The High Cost of Liberalism

Taxes too high? You ain't seen nothing yet.

First, allowing the expiration of the previous Bush administration tax cuts at the end of 2010. These reductions increased government tax receipts by $785 billion (just as the Kennedy and Reagan tax cuts increased tax revenues) and gave us eight million new jobs over a 52-month period. The cuts go away if Congress does nothing, raising tax rates on the top earners will to 39.6% from 35%, and on the next-highest bracket to 36% from 33%. The Joint Committee on Taxation estimates that 55% of these tax increases will come from small-business income.

Anybody out there know what the Afghanistan and Iraq war is costing us?

These wars were started by the GOP.

The Iraq war is especially troubling, as we stated a war with a nation that had absolutely nothin to do with 9/11. We sent our troops into harms way with the most expensive shoddy and inferior equipment in the history of our nation. For this, our troops are being killed and wounded at an alarming pace.

The wounds they receive are horrendous. Yet, they are sent home to hospitals who are not equipped to handle them. We don't need the money for better care for our troops. We need it for more important purposes--to prosecute the wars.

We are still spending some 10 Billion--that's BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH to prosecute this war that George Bush said was "Mission accomplished."

Nothing is said about the taxes for this huge expenditure. Yet, to spend monies to have health care for our children and troops, or to fix our streets and highways, or to repair our schools, or for our police force, or for our fire departments or for other expenditures for the welfare of our nation, is to this very same Party that initiated these wars, an abomination.

I agree 100%! However, the last I looked Obama was in office and he is the one sending more troops to Afghanistan. Where are all the war protestors in the democratic party now? Silent!

The meetings will be aboard the grand sailing vessel dubbed the SS Camp Casey anchored in Martha's Vineyard. Sheehan will co-captain daily excursions as she holds this seaside peace summit.

HEY! It took 8 years to get us into these messes. Pres. Obama is owed more time than 7 months to fix it. It's going to take years.

The Democrats will square this country away, but it's going to take many years to undo the damage. Surely, GOP members are expecting to be in control again for at least the next 50 years, are they?

opinions

He said Afgahn was the right war and he was going to send more troops, even McCain said so, too. So that's what he is doing as Iraq is winding down. Yes, I'll take years: no Pres. in history inherited a complicated economic crises and 2 wars, with tax cut to the rich in place.

I don't owe Obama anything. You support him so when you get what you asked for, live with it. The Democrats so far have let the spending and the debt become astronomical. Is that what you wanted for your children and grandchildren? I'll bet you will even be happy when everyone's taxes go up, including yours.
IMO

I am so sick of hearing that people who don't support this health care mess are "I've got mine, to heck with you" type people, when the only thing I see from the other side is "I want mine, and you have to pay for it".
And I agree with you. I owe Obama NOTHING.

Yes, it is sort of like the old addage "if you oppose Obama, you are a racist". How much more of this nonsense are we expected to take?
