The woman whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase and tossed in an Orange County trash bin has been identified as a 28-year-old former swimsuit model who disappeared over the weekend.

US and Canada are looking for the finalist of "Megan Wants to Marry a Millionaire"
Jasmine Fiore, 28, was last seen about 8:30 p.m. Friday at her home in Los Angeles and was reported missing Saturday evening by Canadian citizen Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32. He has since disappeared and is being called a person of interest in Fiore's killing, police say.
Authorities believe Jenkins could be heading to Canada in Fiore's white 2007 Mercedes CL S550 with black rims and tinted windows, which is still missing. They think he took the Canadian license plate, number HLY275, off his black BMW X5 SUV and put it on Fiore's vehicle.
Jenkins and Fiore were likely either dating or married, though police haven't been able to confirm the nature of their relationship.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is helping California authorities by executing a "BOLF" order — an advisory to "be on the lookout for" Jenkins, Sgt. Patrick Webb told FOXNews.com.
Jenkins' profile on the show's Web site has been removed (VH1's site)

I haven't watched this show- because I remember this gal from prev. VH1 show/s and couldn't stand her- but I knew the show was going to be on.
I'm glad the thread title changed- because when I went to google news & saw the headlines & it was updated (at the time) to 23 min. ago, I went to see if there was a thread on it in Entertainment or Current Crimes.
I do know we have quite a few posters that do watch a lot of VH1 programming, so this connection/tie might help with finding him as far as he'd be more recognizable hopefully to the general public.

She grew up in Bonny Doon, in Santa Cruz County, CA, the location of the recent fire that's been on national news. The fire was named the Lockheed fire. You may have seen coverage of it. Here's a link to a local article with quotes from a member of a well known Santa Cruz family that owns a local institution where Fiore once worked, Shoppers Corner.

The show either does not do a background check, or they don't care about a criminal record. Ryan Jenkins has a conviction for assault from 2007. He is also connected with an investment fraud scam that is currently unfolding, although there are no charges at this time. His father is a well respected Architect so maybe, on the surface, Ryan looked squeaky clean.

Yes, she was. I also am sure she didn't make this production choice herself, but it was so disrespectful how the camera kept zooming into the chest of the victim so that all you could see was her breasts in the picture. Ironic, given that Marc Klass was talking about giving the victim a little respect, please.
Doesn't seem like the rumor on the POI is true though, given that the POI has been seen near Canada. What a piece of work that guy is. I don't watch any of VH1's trash-tastic reality shows, and if I ever was tempted, I certainly won't be now.

I'm surprised this case isn't getting more attention. We've got a yuppie from a privileged background that may have murdered (dismembered, I'm assuming, if there's blood and a suitcase) a model. This isn't some psycho with mental problems, but a regular guy that attracted the attention of all sorts of accomplished, successful people. Weird case.
I stand corrected ... on HLN now.

It looks like Ryan is back in Canada. He'll probably lawyer up, stay quiet, and see how long he can remain a free man. The police will have to rely on any circumstantial and forensic evidence to build a case against him, and only if the death penalty is removed can he be extradited.

"One count of murder with malice aforethought was filed against Ryan Jenkins on Thursday afternoon in the death of former model Jasmine Fiore, 28."
Malice aforethought assumes premeditation right? Could they have evidence that this was actually premeditated rather than say a fit of jealous rage?
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090820/national/reality_contestant_slaying
The same article states that his mother went to Seattle to meet her son due to a "family emergency" yesterday. Wasn't Jenkins already being looked for by authorities yesterday? If so, either she didn't know or she didn't alert LE.
What a horrible thing for Jenkin's parents to have to deal with, finding out their son is a savage killer, though I suspect they must be in denial with the shock.

A $10 million dollar bail on this guy? Whew! He's in trouble. I have a feeling that the bounty hunters won't be allowed to pack guns and chase down Ryan in Canada ... t'would be kidnapping, and result in charges. Guns can't be taken across the border either.
I have to wonder how he got into the US with a criminal record. Maybe it's just drug convictions that stop people at the border, but I thought it was all criminal convictions.
I'm shocked. I really am. I can't imagine how this guy went from privileged son of an architect, regular guy, to guy that strangles his wife, removes her teeth and fingers to prevent identification, and flees the country. I wonder if he killed her after the poker game, spent the day trying to hide her body and make her unidentifiable, and then called it in as a missing person. He probably thought he had lots of time, but then her body was discovered quickly, and he had to change plans and get out of town. Wow ... that's all I can say.

"as I know about behavioral science, I can only help so much"
What is that all about? Behavioral science? Social science? What is he talking about? He can only help her so much? Like you said ... he makes it sound like she has problems. I doubt he has any formal education ... just a guess ... so using a phrase like "behavioral science" is, in my opinion, dropping phrases his dad uses - trying to make himself sound intelligent and educated. Manipulative and talking down.

There must be plenty of evidence in the apt of his participation in the murder. Murder charges can't be brought simply because he left the country, I hope.
If he graduated Mount Royal College in 1999, then he finished high school in 1995, screwed around for a couple of years, and completed a 2 year program at MRC when he was 22.
"Jenkins, variously described as an architect, real estate developer and investment banker ..."
He's definitely not an architect, and his investment banking experience was probably learned through smooth talking people out of money ... don't need any training/education to call yourself an investment whatever.
I suspect his parents are devastated and want to talk to him with a lawyer before he meets with police. I suspect they want to hear what he has to say ... but if he's involved, I don't see his parents tossing their reputations down the toilet to protect him.

Canada does not have the death penalty and will not extradite unless the death penalty is taken off the table. Charles Ng is a famous case where extradition delayed justice ( http://articles.latimes.com/1989-10-27/news/mn-611_1_charles-ng ).
If he's in the US, the bounty hunters will be all over him. If he's in Canada, they can't touch him unless they kidnap him - criminal offense. If the RCMP find him, he'll be detained, and the legal process will begin. The US courts will have to demonstrate probable cause before he can be extradited, and if that is provided, then there are other conditions - like removing the death penalty. If he's in Canada, he'll avoid prosecution for quite some time, I think.

THat email of his was so transparent. What a psycho.
There was a clip on HLN tonight from the Megan wanna show. Never heard of it before this case tho. It shows him trying to woo Megan. She is being slightly coy when she doesn't promise to fall in bed with him asap. Asks her "is this your best date ever?" She says "maybe"
From that wee exchange, he opines in his alone time w/camera that he might not have enough time to win her over. Feels like she might not drop her guard completely for him w/out more time. After reading that email, it was beyond creepy. To me psycho doesn't know if Megan will fall completely in love with his charms aka mind games and manipulation. That type always preys only on the one they believe controllable. Can't stand the rejection of those who don't buy his utter bs. It makes me sick to my stomach to see him trying to put on puppet shows. Jasmine apparently no longer willing to be his punching bag.
He is filming this Megan show AFTER they are married in Vegas, is that right?
Re the BMW in WA, wonder how he got out of town with both cars. Maybe BMW was a plant and he headed south of the border in the benz? Just thinking out loud. At one point, I thought I heard his ultimate destination could be Hondoras.

One of the media outlets said his dad was in Honduras, but he was actually in Mexico. They expected him to head for the Canadian border ... I thought he'd head to Mexico to meet his dad.
His Skyhomes website seems to be somewhat down ... not opening for me anymore. There were two employees, Ryan and his then girlfriend. She's very attractive and she appeared to be an equal partner. They have two cars. She either drove to the poker game or they met somewhere and he drove. Maybe her car is where ever she left it before the poker game? Maybe she went out on her own on Saturday and left her car somewhere ... then the murderer took her back to the trash bin outside her apartment? That doesn't sound right. It sounds like she was killed in the apartment ... and where was he at that time? Where was he when he reported her missing?

One of the media outlets said his dad was in Honduras, but he was actually in Mexico. They expected him to head for the Canadian border ... I thought he'd head to Mexico to meet his dad.
His Skyhomes website seems to be somewhat down ... not opening for me anymore. There were two employees, Ryan and his then girlfriend. She's very attractive and she appeared to be an equal partner. She was interviewed and appeared poised and well spoken. I've got a snapshot of the page ... will post it in a minute.

Evidently he was in Seattle on Wednesday. His mother went down due to a "family emergency", according to the link I posted upthread.
I think he did get to Vancouver, his boat was found.
I noticed this, a so far unidentified male body found in Stanley Park late today:
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/cbc/090820/canada/canada_britishcolumbia_bc_stanley_park_body
Could it be? Where can he run? He has no transport now. I can't imagine his parents are aiding him to hide. There's a manhunt for this savage, a warrant. But who knows?
ETA....thinking now, after what he did to mutilate Jasmine, I don't think this guy would commit suicide. He's too much of a sociopath and psycho combined.

He must have called his parents ... but when ... to tell them that his wife had been missing for 12 hours? He was with her Friday night (presumably into the morning) ... and that night he reports her missing even though they are not getting along??? I wonder if he'd missed the news and didn't realize the body was found, or if it was found around the same time her reported her missing. By Tuesday the body was identified, Wednesday he met with his mom ... asked for money and advice. Did she bring him the boat? Where did he get the boat from?
I think his parents are well connected. Someone may agree to allow him to meet with a lawyer before being detained or giving himself up? I don't think he'll stay on the run, I think he's on the run to get home and talk to a lawyer ... then he'll turn himself in perhaps in Vancouver, otherwise in Calgary where Alain Hepner lives.

I think the mutilation was a desperate attempt to make sure she wasn't found. I think he was expecting the dumpster to be emptied soon ... and I think the homeless guy or building manager (don't remember which found the body) said it would have been picked up quickly had he not poked around in the dumpster. She was probably murdered after the poker game, and I suspect he spent the day trying to figure out what to do. I think eventually he decided to hide the body, and then over-thought all the ways it could be connected to him ... for some reason, he didn't put her in the back of his car and drive off - which is odd. They were already on the skids, so if she disappeared and he left town ... who would be the wiser? Her roommate? Her ex-boyfriend?

I think you're right. He probably called his parents. His father flew back from Mexico where he was on business. (The Honduras connection is that his father owns/runs/built a housing complex there and earlier there was speculation Jenkins may get down there).
I also expect he will turn himself in with the lawyer.
I read that his vehicle and boat trailer were found abandoned in Washington, and the boat on the Canadian side. I think it was on the TMZ site.

I guess there's a little piece of land where you can park your boat on the US side of the border and basically walk across the border ... or run. I heard that's what he did ... so the boat and SUV were found on the US side.

" His car and an empty boat trailer were found at a marina in Blaine, just south of Vancouver.
A boat belonging to Jenkins was found at Point Roberts, U.S. territory just south of Vancouver that is at the tip of a peninsula and can only be reached by land from Canada, said Monson.
"It is now our belief that he has crossed the border on foot," he said. "We are currently working with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in our attempts to locate him."

I guess Blaine is still in Washington, since Vancouver is right near the border? Then he took the boat to Point Roberts, and from there walked into Canada.

Yipes, I went to Mount Royal College (albeit many, many moons ago.)
As for Point Roberts, it is part of WA state but is not connected by land to WA. You have to drive through Canada. It's an extremely small community and, when I lived in Vancouver in the seventies, kids who lived in Point Roberts had to take the school bus through two borders (Canadian/American) to get to school. At that time at least half the residents were Canadians who had cabins there. Once you cross into Canada, however, you're pretty much in the suburbs of Vancouver, as I remember. Pretty easy then to disappear quickly.
While there are many places along the WA/ British Columbia border where one could sneak across, I suspect Point Roberts would be desirable since who there would expect him to cross there, seeing as how he couldn't do so by car? The border is sort of loosie-goosie there because the folks in BC travel back and forth to their cabins all the time and there's really nowhere to go. Yep, a sleepy little area like that would be easy to sneak through.

Anyone so callous as to dismember a loved one's teeth and fingers, didn't just kill in a rage of passion, anger or anything else. He stuiffed her nude body in a suitcase, then dumped it like a bag of garbage.
He had the wherewithall to think he could remove her prints dental records. Had the unmitigated gall to go to LE and say he last saw her with a packed suitcase heading for Vegas. Then decides his best option is to speed away with his boat to some remote US/Canadian port? I am more inclined to believe he had fantasies of how to possibly take care of Jasmine if she she didn't take care of him and respect his needs and wishes (and whatever else his sicko email demanded)

I think so too, much as it's so additionally shocking for Jasmine's family. It's just strange that he wouldn't have taken her out to some remote place, the desert, the wilderness. Lots of places to hide a body never to be found. I also shudder to think of where he could have mutilated her like that. In a building where evidence would be left? Gee. I can't imagine why such a catch like him would need or want a gun. How hard could it possibly be for him to obtain one?
If he can fish and fly and play cards and assault women, I'd imagine he can hunt. Or at least make a feeble attempt to hunt down his prey
Not sure what you saying about LE exaggerating and people might think to look at him more innocent. Not my peeps anyway.
Jenkins could be expelled from Canada for murdering Jasime too. I highly doubt his illegal entry and expulsion status is at the top of his survival list. Assuming he has the will. He tried to get away with it ... no doubt ... the wheeler dealer ... thought he had an answer for everything. This guy talked people out of their money for real estate investments ... and some of those people have just realized (a couple of weeks ago) they've been swindled and are filing court documents to retrieve the money.
I think he believed he could have whatever he wanted ... could do whatever he wanted ... and that his entire life got out of control. I think he would not accept the fact that he couldn't have people as possessions if he wanted - she was more connected to her ex-boyfriend than she was to him. He was threatened by that. I think he lost his temper, beat her, and then tried to hide the crime ... doing whatever he thought he had to do to get away with it. I don't understand why he didn't put the suitcase in the car and drive into the desert ... that seems more like the premeditated thing to do.

I think Ryan put some thought into what if....
he allowed himself to act on his violent impulses
I could be completely wrong but I juust can't fathom how one extracts teeth from the unresponsive body alleged to be the love of his life. I so hope he's found alive. His fate would he consider it to be worse than death :glare:
Bolded by me.
He reported her as missing on Friday night. Then he said she took off for Vegas? This was a mistake. He should have said nothing. After all, their marriage was annulled in May then he convinced her to come back to him (according to Jasmine's mom). So they went to San Diego for a poker thing one day. Lousy time. What's suspicious about a girl taking off when the relationship is going sour? She was from Vegas anyway. Went home. Eventually she would have "gone missing" if family/friends didn't hear from her for some time. By then anything could have occurred, in Vegas, anywhere. He brought attention to himself.

Crossing the border will save his sorry ash from a possible death penalty if he is convicted of the charges against him.
Hmmmm
Mom and dad wanted him on the Canadian side of the border as fast as possible ... probably for that very reason: capital punishment. There's a bit of a debate brewing in parliament about the death penalty ... another Alberta man coincidentally. The Prime Minister said ... let him rot in a Montana prison ... but lawyers are saying that's not consistent with Canadian law.

Her "mother figure" didn't know she'd been married?
http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/08/21/lkl.jasmine.fiore/index.html
"Gwendolyn Beauregard said Fiore was a close friend of her two sons, and she met the future model when Fiore was just 11. Despite the close ties -- "she called me mommy and she was my daughter" -- Beauregard was in the dark about Fiore's marriage to Ryan Jenkins. The marriage reportedly was annulled a few weeks after their Las Vegas, Nevada, wedding."

I'm sure he'll be found alive. A guy like that in jail ... for murdering a pinup? I don't think he'd live long.
I would laugh if it wasn't so sad.
"It seems more like the premeditated thing to do" You mean like leave in the dessert like black widow did to her husband? the wrestler and his wife did to his girlfriend? Have you have put some thought into open dessert vs closed suitcase in dumpser? Odd to me.
You say he'll be found alive. But don't think he'll live long in prison. Do share your thought on how that will work out. If he is alive and never goes to prison, do you fancy him innocent and free?
Why would a pinup killer be have a short life in prison?

I thought they were playing poker on Friday night, or was that just him? ... and that he reported her missing on Saturday night, the same night the body was found? If it was premeditated and he'd been able to think with a clear head, he probably would have not reported it, and driven into the desert ... but instead he reported it. An innocent man would report his wife missing ... but right after he put her in the dumpster - after removing her fingers and teeth? ... an annulled marriage husband should have waited days, rather than a few hours, to report her missing.
He did bring attention onto himself. I don't think he's all that bright. His father is the architect, he was riding on daddy's coattails with the architecture, real estate, and investment banker business claims ... which he turned into scams.

I think guys in jail are fond of pin-up girls. This guy is a dweeb ... not hardcore, like a criminal ... I don't think he'd be too popular in prison - although his millions (cough, sputter ... someone's millions) could probably buy him a reprieve.
If he had premeditated this murder, he should have had a better plan than putting her in her suitcase in the dumpster behind the apartment just before he phoned police to report her missing ... he'd know better than to make a missing person's report on a woman that had her marriage with him annulled in May (married in March). It's not like he was responsible for her ... in anyone's eyes. Their relationship was on the rocks. I'm saying that I don't think it was premeditated.

Do you realize that LE did not release that information? It was contained in the murder complaint filed by the State of CA aka the prosecuting office.
But if you wish to show compassion for Ryan Jenkins, be my guest. It seems crystal clear to me.

I didn't mean to imply that I had made a decision regarding the guilt or innocence of Ryan Jenkins in this murder. I agree he looks awfully suspicious. "Ms. Fiore was last seen alive on Aug. 13 at a party in San Diego, which she attended with Ryan Alexander Jenkins, 32, her former husband. Nevada records show the pair married in March. The woman's mother, Lisa Lepore, said the marriage was annulled in May, although they later got back together.
Around 7 a.m. the next day, a body was found in a “very large suitcase” inside a dumpster in Buena Park, Calif., a Los Angeles suburb about 150 kilometres from the scene of the party, Buena Park police lieutenant Gary Worrall said. The suitcase was found by a man rummaging for recyclables. Preliminary indications are that the victim was strangled.
Later that afternoon, Mr. Jenkins walked into a Los Angeles County Sheriff's office in West Hollywood and reported Ms. Fiore missing.
“He came to the station and provided a picture, gave a report,” Lt. Worrall said. Officers called around, eventually connecting the body in the dumpster with the missing woman. “At that point, we were able to put the two together that their missing was our deceased person.”
But Mr. Jenkins had left the sheriff's office by then. Police haven't been able to track him down, and yesterday said the Canadian was a “person of interest” in the model's death.
...
“At this point, there's nothing we can point to that would make him a suspect in the crime, but he was the last person seen with her while she was alive, he reported her missing subsequent to her death, and we've been unable to contact him, which is suspicious to us,” Lt. Worrall said. “We, of course, are concerned that he might go to Canada.”
"In Calgary, Mr. Jenkins' cell phone has been disconnected. Websites for two of the companies he said he was involved in – Concrete Equities and Townscape Developments – are offline. The listed number for a third is a real estate firm, where a woman said Mr. Jenkins left in April [skyhomes most likely].
He'd been profiled in a local newspaper when he got into the real estate business, following in the footsteps of his father, Dan Jenkins, a Calgary architect.
“Ryan is Dan's son, but he has nothing to do with any of Dan's companies. And he did not work for us,” a woman answering the phone at the father's firm said yesterday. “He's got absolutely nothing to do with our company.”

Is he being pursued because he doesn't want to be interrogated by police in a foreign country, especially one with the death penalty? Is he being pursued because he left the country?
Statements from police state that there is nothing to connect him with the crime. How did he become a suspect? ... is it because he was the last known person to see the victim? ... last known person to see the victim ... and who did not want to be interrogated about a murder in a foreign country without a lawyer?

By all reports, there's nothing to make him a suspect except that he left the country and did not speak with police ... he reported his wife missing when she wasn't exactly his wife and 12 hours isn't exactly missing no matter how you look at it ... so far no forensics and the circumstantial is minimal ... but ... that's enough for the Canadian's judicial system to request more evidence prior to extradition ... so by fleeing the country Ryan has a second governing body deciding whether he should even be held for trial.
Police have released information that he switched license plates with his wife's car. They say he is traveling with a gun, so armed and dangerous (is that a shoot on site order?). I'm having a hard time believing the business about the gun. Sure, lots of guys are hunters, but this was a green design toting designer's son. A gun? Where and how did he get a gun? If the police are exaggerating, issuing an arrest warrant for murder without evidence, and alleging guns without evidence, then they will loose credibility with Canada. I hope the California police have their ducks in a row.

I am surprised that you think LE & DA are the same office. I assumed by your post count you had strong knowledge of the legal system. Do you include the judge in your one office system? It is a murder complaint with malice and forethought, filed by the Orange County DA, $10m bail. They had to have provided their reasons for that charge and excessive bail to the court in order to have probable cause and issuance. Unless under seal, our judicial proceedings are public record. ME reports included.
LE did hold a presser. Multiple agencies participated including US Marshals. It was all related to the information contained in the murder complaint.
I guesss some may possibly be willng to overlook the nude body, stuffed in a suitcase details. The prior assault arrest on Jasmine, and subsequent TRO I guess can be explained away if one tries hard enough. The DV conviction in Canada might have just been his bad luck. That email just his way of being sweet self if you just skim it.
All of the above was public knowledge before the presser. Certainly, that wouldn't be enough to scare some off. The fingers and teeth would somehow seal the deal for the entire population so that "no one would help him?"
Ryan is IUPG, I think mummy and daddy might want to support him with that presumption. You can too. Personally, I don't see how LE presser made Ryan look much worse in the public eye than he already did.

In Canada, the police collect information about crimes and bring it to the prosecutor's office. That information cannot be released without permission from the prosecutor's office ... and, in fact, is not released until trial because of laws protecting the innocent. The laws are different in the US and Canada ... in Canada the police and prosecutors work on the same team. Maybe it's different in the US. In Canada, Police don't speak out about a case without consulting prosecutors about what should be released ... like there was a decision to release the information about fingers and teeth. That detail could have been withheld, like what is commonly done when a suspected serial killer is at work.
My post count means nothing more than "I'm mouthy", and as for legal knowledge, it's adequate for my purposes ... might be based on British/Roman Law. What is the historical background of US law?
It is not sufficient to say that Ryan Jenkins is the husband of a missing woman ... and then all of a sudden he's a murder suspect without evidence ... that would scare anyone out of their wits. I hope to read in the morning newspaper about the evidence against Ryan Jenkins justifying a murder charge. If there's a murder charge, the paperwork must, as you say, be there. Is it as readily available in California as it is in Florida?
I don't think he hired or spoke to a lawyer before he returned to Canada, but I do think he will retain the same lawyer he used to get out of the assault charge. The fact that Alain Hepner was on NG this evening says one of two things: either he's retained and the client gave permission to speak with media, or, he has not been retained. He's the best criminal lawyer in the city. I think his parents got some lawyer on the phone ... maybe someone in Vancouver.

Alain Hepner is a top criminal lawyer in Calgary. I think Ryan Jenkins will hire a lawyer, perhaps Alain Hepner; who helped him with his assault charges. Ryan jumped the hoops ... no criminal record even though he has been formally charged with assaulting two women before his wife was found in a suitcase in the dumpster behind the apartment.

Someone asked if his SUV BMW came standard with a trailer hitch. Well, it is an SUV and he did own a boat so I think it's reasonable that he would have a trailer hitch on it.
I can't stop thinking about the mutilation. Murder is one thing, but it takes a special kind of maniac to be able to do what what was done to her. I'm thinking Jenkins isn't the type of guy to have a tool box in his LA apartment. I'm thinking he may have gone to a local hardware store and purchased some tools. Megan Wants a Millionaire filming had already started sometime in Feb. 2009 according to a few of her interviews on the web. The show premiered around the first of Aug. 2009. Ryan is rumored to have come in 2nd place (runner-up) to Sharay Hayes. Meg/Mill show is cancelled.
The filming of ILM3 & 4 finished filming this summer. The 2 shows were filmed back to back to fill in Charm Schools timeslot in Mexico. Ryan is rumored to have won ILM3 & rumored that he went to the 51 Minds/Endemol office to request an early cut of the $250,000 check right after Jasmine's death, but was denied. The web-reports now mention that at least ILM3 is cancelled.

Oh yeah, the motivation for the mutilation (identification) is obvious. But to carry it out. To have it in him to do that, to physically perform it is horrifying.
OK, so he goes to all that trouble *shudder* then he stupidly dumps her in a very small dumpster. I don't know if he threw anything like a tarp or a blanket over the suitcase or if the suitcase was just visible to anyone who lifted the lid, but tossing a suitcase in a small dumpster was just stewpid. If one is going to toss a body in a dumpster, at least put it in a giant dumpster, one that isn't easily looked into from your average person tossing a trash bag. I guess he just ain't that bright. He does the unthinkable, murder, then he performs horrendous mutilation and then he casually tosses her practically in plain sight.
Was that dumpster in his own apartment complex or just some random complex. I assumed it was not the complex he/they lived in, but I have read at least one post here where someone did think or assume it was their complex.

The location of the apt. dumpster - why was he in that area ?

Presumed innocent yes, but talk about consciousness of guilt! This guy's actions are as bad or worse than Scott Peterson's. His disappearance right after reporting Kristi missing made him a POI right away. Switches license plates, takes off north, sneaks across the border via a bay, becomes the object of an international manhunt. An innocent man would be distraught, cooperating with LE etc. He's not exactly looking very good. As to the mutilation, really, would a random killer take the time and effort do this?
Strange, the guy appears obsessive in his efforts to destroy Kristi's identity, yet appears so stupid in the process. Why he didn't take the body out to a canyon or the desert is beyond me.

Looks like Jenkins left the hotel by himself. They were staying in an upscale hotel in Del Mar. Jasmine was last seen on the Thursday Aug 13. The next morning he was seen alone.
Does this mean he killed her Thursday night? Then somehow got her into the car at the hotel, probably took her somewhere else to mutilate her and then dumped her body in the LA area.
I bet they are going through the room with a fine tooth comb. It's reported he strangled her, maybe not much evidence there.

There are 2 things Im trying to connect...
The location of the apt. dumpster - why was he in that area ?
(I dont know/havnt heard if & where he lived in the states.) I read somewhere that Jasmine had a "4th floor penthouse" but dont recall where. That apt dumpster didnt look a place where either of them would live. jmo
Was he at anytime recently in the Los Angeles area ? Thats where 51 Minds office is located. I havnt seen this "confirmed".
I also havnt seen or heard if the annullment took place either.
The annulment is mentioned in this article.
Also, it appears that the Buena Park dumpster was just off the 5 freeway (which is the main freeway from San Diego north through LA and then further north). He probably just exited from the 5 to dump Jasmin'e body into the nearest dumpster he found.

The short marriage is also mentioned here, with a background of their relationship:
"After taping for "Megan Wants a Millionaire" finished in early March, Jenkins met Fiore in Las Vegas casino and the two got married on March 18, said Fiore's mother, Lisa Lepore.
But in May, "they had a big blowout," and fought because he was jealous of her ex-boyfriends, Lepore said. "She had the marriage annulled."
Jenkins then went to Mexico to do another reality TV show, but struggled to get Fiore back when he returned. It was not immediately clear which show he appeared on.
"He convinced her during that month that he was really the guy for her," Lepore said. "He wrote poems and stories, and prayed, and (claimed he) had this huge spiritual awakening." "

So Jasmine was seen Friday night and evidently "put down" by Jenkins according to a witness. Since her body was found the next morning, he must have been up all night. I can't get my mind around what he did to her after strangling her. Where and with what? There wasn't a lot of time and he was in a populated area along the corridor from San Diego to LA.

That creepy mutilation seems to have been motivated by a desire to slow down identification of the body when you think aout it. He was removing the areas that could be identified by finger prints and dental records.
Oh, this guy is so disgusting. :cursing:
ITA.
Do you think he just overlooked DNA??? If he knew dental records could be used, I'd think he would understand DNA. It really makes it even more creepy. Sending the "suck it" text and she has no teeth now?? I might be overthinking it but :FLAMEMAD:

I'm just reeling from this ... as is obvious ... but I can't imagine someone strangling a woman he loved enough to marry, and then sitting around with the body thinking about how to hide the murder ... and then deciding to cut off her fingers and pull out her teeth. That's just too weird.
This guy has to be really sick if he did this, and I don't mean psychiatric sick ... I mean extradited to face charges/expelled sick.
The charming sociopath - the guys next door, they are the scariest of all. Look at the Craigslist Killer - pre-med student, had it all. Ted Bundy. Ryan seems like a classic sociopath to me with woman issues cut from the same cloth as those other guys. Entitled, good-looking, expects women to fall at his feet. When they don't....God help them.
There was a similar case to this on Forensic Files where the woman's husband or boyfriend who claimed to love her beyond reason dismembered her body, including decapitation, and also extracted the teeth from the skull so that she could not be identified. It happens. It's terrifying, but it happens.
As far as the suspect, they would not have charged him with her murder without any cause or just because he ran. The prosecutor demands evidence, we just don't know what that is yet. Fingerprints on the suitcase, on her body, on the dumpster lid, any are possible. Evidence at their apartment or in his car.

Yes, I posted that LA Times link on page 3....Jasmine having been last seen on the 13th. Makes more sense that Jenkins had some time. I question the source for the witness at the Friday poker game too. Friday night to Saturday morning when Jasmine's body was found doesn't afford much time for what Jenkins did to her, not to mention the 2 hour drive to LA to be there in the wee hours so as not to be seen. Then who knows, maybe he did it all that one night.

I was just thinking that she could have towed the boat to WA state and dropped it at a designated location. He then could have hooked up the trailer to his SUV and drove it to the marina where the trailer and his car were found, in a town called Blaine in WA state. Jenkins admitted he punched the woman in the head and knocked her to her knees when she attempted to leave his Calgary residence.
Jenkins disagreed with the description of his sexual appetite. He also described his actions regarding the assault as "immature" and out of character. Jenkins said he did not believe he had any issues with anger management, but admitted to being impatient at times.
Jenkins told the probation officer that, although he had no concerns with anxiety or depression
It was Jenkins who filed a restraining order against the girlfriend at Court of Queen's Bench less than a month after the assault, due to what he described as her "ongoing harassing behaviour."

It's possible he was more concerned about a quick identification. DNA takes time and must be compared to something. Had Jasmine been recovered later, they would have had to suspect she was the missing woman and her DNA compared to a relative to make a definite identification....or to any trace evidence linked to Jenkins. I still am baffled why Jenkins chose to dump her body in a populated area.
I do though think you may be right about Jasmine's face. It has been stated she was badly beaten.

When the body was found, reports speculated she was a child or teenager because of her size. It's possible that her face was disfigured as LE could have seen a difference between a very young woman and an adult one, at least I think so. She was found very quickly so her features should still have been recognizable.

Ryan Alexander Jenkins, wanted in the murder of model Jasmine Fiore, led authorities on a high-speed boat chase several miles off the coast near Blaine, Wash., law enforcement sources told The Times today.
Authorities tracked Jenkins to a marina in Blaine on Wednesday night and came upon his car and empty boat trailer, the sources said, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because it was an ongoing investigation.
The engine of the car was still warm and the U.S. Coast Guard was alerted. A Coast Guard cutter came upon a speed boat several miles off the coast that was believed to belong to Jenkins. Coast Guard officials shone lights on the speed boat and began approaching, the sources said.
The speed boat then fled into Canadian waters, sources said. Authorities there were notified and chased it with a helicopter and a boat, but the speed boat crossed back into U.S. waters.

Wow, if they actually were on his tail that quickly I hope he's still in the area hiding out somewhere. Maybe in the forest. He couldn't have gotten far on foot.
I have visions of the prof who killed his wife and her friend, the one who escaped in the woods and who was eventually found by a cadaver dog. The guy had buried and then shot himself.
This creep though, I doubt he'd commit suicide, but who knows if he's cornered.

It's possible he was more concerned about a quick identification. DNA takes time and must be compared to something. Had Jasmine been recovered later, they would have had to suspect she was the missing woman and her DNA compared to a relative to make a definite identification....or to any trace evidence linked to Jenkins. I still am baffled why Jenkins chose to dump her body in a populated area.I do though think you may be right about Jasmine's face. It has been stated she was badly beaten.

The suitcase with Jasmine's body in it was dumped in a small dumpster in Buena Park, just off the 5 freeway. It was found Saturday morning by a man who was fishing for recyclable bottles or some such thing.
Jasmine was last seen in a hotel in Del Mar. It's not known where she was killed, though video tape apparently shows Jenkins leaving the hotel alone with a suitcase. He did not bother to check out at the desk it's reported.

Question:
IF a background check had been done on Ryan sometime in Jan. 2009....what would have popped up ? This would of been for Megan Wants a Millionaire.
And , if another check was run for ILM3, what would have come up ?
I cant keep up with the board so busy. TIA
Also, authorities say she was last seen on Friday after midnight ???? What some people would call late thursday night...?

This should raise questions on both sides of the border.
Jenkins has a Criminal Record here in Canada. Without a Pardon, he should never have been able to enter the USA to begin with. With charges laid in 2008, and 15 months of Probation - I can Guarantee, he did not have a Pardon as that application takes months to process and be filed. There hasn't been enough time to have that completed between the date of the charges, the Court process time then the length of the Probation. It just doesn't fit.
The US Customs should also be reviewing the entry of this man to begin with.

BCM - what would have shown up. He is a Canadian citizenon and a half decent background check would find his 2 convictions in Canada. Then upon red flag, could have have looked further to see both related to violence against women.
I wonder how they determined he qualified for the show and claimed he had $2m?
Ryan would have to sign off for permission for them to do any criminal check. Asked him upfront to disclose any history. Give his adresses for last 7 years (or whatever number the agency uses)_ Least that is how it should work.

I thought he had a criminal record, but he doesn't. He was given a 15 months sentence that, with good behavior, would remove any criminal conviction ... clean record. I think it's called a conditional discharge. A background search may have uncovered the original charges, but a criminal record check would have been clean.
There was only one assault charge from a girlfriend ... no conviction ... no criminal record.

There is an unconfirmed report that he was seen in Nanaimo this morning. Nanaimo is a small coastal village on Vancouver Island.)I was there many years ago). Whether he was/is there or not, a positive thing is that the news has reached the public, in outlying places even, as a man there called authorities.
Also in this article, regarding the boat chase, it states the boat was found in Pt Rupert (not Blaine as previously mistakenly reported).
Authorities also state it's possible he left the country...boarded a plane (though I don't see how he could have taken a commercial flight unless he had fake documents)

That's exactly his type. It seems she was last seen August 13 when they checked into a hotel, but only he checked out.

I just wanted to address the distance aspect of your post. It reminded me of how far Scott Peterson drove to dispose of Laci's body. About the same distance thru a heavily populated corridor also. It *is* unbelievable that anyone would do such a thing, I agree. I checked on mapquest comparing the two cases.

Ted Bundy and the Craigslist killer were serial killers who were strangers to their victims. Craigslist killer didn't have to be charming. He was in a ruse to hire prostitutes.
Jenkins was married to his victim (annulled). Since he was recently said to have been trying to lure her back into the relationship I wouldn't lump the 3 cases together. It's right to say anyone who commits murder is a sociopath. Which is easy to know after the fact.
The thing that's so frightful about murderers is no one knows who they are until after they do the crime of murder.

Quite true. Paperwork has to be completed stating that he will not face the death penalty before he can be extradited. Once he has a good lawyer, the process could drag out a couple of years. It's not just that the death penalty has to be removed, but there has to be evidence or justification for extraditing him.

BUT - READ ON - it says they checked into a different hotel Friday - the Hilton - and were seen together at a poker party that night at the Hilton Hotel.
It was at that poker party Friday nite when witnesses observed Fiore putting Jenkins down - not the other way around. She put HIM down; I take that to mean verbal insults from her directed at him. Friday night was the 14th.

There's some confusion over what tmz is reporting about the witnesses. No news agencies have mentioned the Hilton or the poker game IIRC.
But I did read (not from tmz) that LE speculates that Jasmine was killed "sometime after midnight on Friday" (sorry, I'd never find the link again) so it's probably true. If so, that didn't give him much time to get out of there, find somewhere else to mutilate her (and how did he have the means? Is this guy in the habit of carrying pliers and knives in his car?), and where? Then the 1.5 hours to drive to Buena Park, probably in the wee hours so as not to be seen. Andrew Luster. Trial started January of ‘03. He disappeared during the trial and was captured in Mexico in June ‘03, where he had been living more of his version of the high life surfing, drinking, etal under the assumed name David Carrera.

Unless there are "exceptional circumstances"
"That means Jenkins's fate could turn on whether gruesome details released Thursday by U.S. authorities — that Fiore's teeth and fingers were removed by her killer, apparently to prevent her identification — point to "exceptional circumstances" allowing Canada to extradite Jenkins without obtaining a no-execution guarantee from California prosecutors."
However, Calif would have to make it a DP case, and right now....
"But based on the evidence we have right now," Emami said, "we've filed one felony count of murder, and this case is not eligible for the death penalty."

4) If one wants to get a message out, it would be to use better judgment and not marry someone you just met 2 days ago. Esp in Vegas. But we seem to be a society of instant gratification. Such message will fall on deaf ears. Or some enchanted exception will pop up to negate this one.

1. Her body was found Saturday morning in Buena Park. They lived in the Fairfax District 40 minutes away.
He had to drive through Buena Park to get home from San Diego Friday night. Her body was found in a dumpster right off the 5 freeway (.02 miles to be exact). Police believe she was killed in San Diego so he had roughly 2 hours to STOP anywhere on the way home to mutilate her body before making that real quick exit off the freeway to dispose of her body before he drove on home.

More regarding charm school
"He presents as remorseful and accepts responsibility for his inappropriate actions," the probation officer wrote in summarizing Jenkins, who was handed a conditional discharge in January 2007 for common assault on an ex-girlfriend.
"He has strong family and community support and appears highly motivated to establish a successful career and lifestyle."
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Jenkins+violent+addict+court+papers/1915450/story.html
That was related to his 2nd DV conviction. Both resulted in conditional discharge. The first one he hit because man had been in her apt. The 2nd one was trying to leave his apt.
I doubt he was the playa he presented. The only claim of him cheating csme from him. He didn't beat the 2 other exes in the story. Of cosuse they were probably faithful. More like his sexual prowess sounds more like sexual abuse IMO.
Also from same link, it sounds to me like he hasn't tried to contact Alain Hepner
The Crown strongly opposed a conditional discharge. I went to bat for him, like I do with all my clients," lawyer Alain Hepner, who represented Jenkins at the time, told the Herald on Thursday. "It (the discharge) was not appealed and he completed it successfully."

If I have time and opportunity I may try to catch up on my days off.
Be that as it may, even if I have passing interest in any given case sometimes I grow bored once I find out what's going on with any given case. To my knowledge and according to television and radio news this case just broke a couple of days ago so it's at least that new and no one knows very much concrete, carved in stone fact about it at any rate.
Given the case is only a couple of days old I've familiarized myself with it to the extent of having read quite a few news stories about it this evening before posting.
When I come into any thread I already know the thread is here and that there's many opinions, many posts, many links posted before I post mine. And many links read that I don't read and many links *I* read that not everyone else here has read.
There is no doubt in my mind that lots of things are always discussed here while I'm away doing other things life requires. LOL

He was seen entering the Del Mar hotel with Jasmine Thur nite (13th). He was seen leaving the Del Mar hotel on Fri am (14th) with suitcases that look like one Jasmine was found in. LE
Where do you think he/they were (if Jasmine was alive 14th and the hotel cameras just failed to capture her exit)
Thanks for the info about route and mileage btw
I also read in one of the links that he did not check out, (as captured by video camera). Simply walked out of the hotel. Odd thing to do unless he wanted to leave in a hurry ofcourse.

Walking out without formally checking is not an unusual thing for a frequent traveler to do; especially if the hotel offers express checkout, including a final invoice/statement slipped under the door of the hotel room.
I think the smoking gun here is that he was caught on video with a piece of luggage leaving for the final time.
Hopefully the luggage can easily be matched.

Yes, that's true.
The luggage...apparently it is. A link upthread somewhere mentioned that a suitcase he was carrying matches, or at least is similar to, the one found in the dumpster. IIRC.

Thanks. I'm a little behind in the updates ... so much information swirling around about this. I thought she was in the dumpster outside of her apartment.

The US Coast guard is denying they chased the boat, but OC DA office, and US Customs and Border Patrol officials are saying they did. Apparently they were looking for him on Wednesday already. It seems authorities already suspected he might try to cross up there. I wonder what tipped them off.
Unless authorities had the info that Jenkin's mom was in Seattle or simply because as a Canadian, they deduced he might.

I never watched the show this Ryan was on and only saw clips of it as I watched Nancy Grace but wow, this guy is a creep for sure. How did the production company not pick up on his background report? I don't understand that.
He obviously thought he was being slick by removing her teeth and fingers but doesn't he know there are people who dive in dumpsters looking for cans etc? Not very smart of him afterall to put her body inside a suitcase and dump it as he did. I hope they catch this guy and get him off the streets ASAP.
Yes I know he is presumed innocent but I think it is safe to say he probably did kill her. My humble opinion.
Bolding mine> We're left to assume they're inept?, not so pristine?, don't care so much? I hope they catch him soon too. I have a feeling they will get lucky and nab him before long. With them issuing the arrest warrant they seem confident he's their man.
The law obviously thinks a defendant is guilty or they wouldn't bring them before a court of law and set out to prove it.

Wait, the above article is saying he walked into Canada from Blaine, not from Pt Roberts? That's not what I got from reading the article. It says the car and empty boat trailer were in Blaine and that after the chase in and out of Canadian waters that he took the boat to another marina and walked in to Canada.

Authorities also state it's possible he left the country...boarded a plane (though I don't see how he could have taken a commercial flight unless he had fake documents)
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/090821/national/us_reality_contestant_slaying
Bolding above is mine.
I'm just not seeing any Pt. Rupert in the article. Twice I see it stated that the boat was found in Point Robert. Never have I heard or read in any of the links that the boat was found in Blaine. The SUV BMW and EMPTY trailer were found in Blaine. He took off from there with the boat and the boat was found at the Marina at Pt. Robert.

"But coast guard and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials confirm they had boats patrolling northwest Washington waters looking for Jenkins last Wednesday in the hours before the Calgarian's boat turned up at the marina in Point Roberts, Wash."

Authorities there were notified and chased it with a helicopter and a boat, but the speed boat crossed back into U.S. waters.

I thought your confusion stemmed from me using the word 'conviction' to describe the disposition Ryan's charges in Canadian courts. Expunged in US means erased from permanent records, not merely an arrest resulting in dismissed charges, right?
Does conditional discharge in Canada do the same to one's record?
This came about when a poster asked what a background check would have shown about Ryan IF the producers of that *contest show* had actually performed one properly
An expunged record would not come up. Does the conditional discharge work the same way? The pubic information now out on his conditional discharges are result of public record search by media or some type of waiver and release on behalf of law enforcement agencies?
IOW, a routine criminal background check by a private agency won't turn up expunged records in US. Would it have turned up conditional discharge records in Canada?
Since filming was in Mexico, I doubt they bothered with what the US or Canadian policies regarding criminal records checks OR paying contestants but that's just my uninformed opinon

I don't know how others guide their moral compass. But speaking for myself, it does't matter if I think one is innocent. Aiding a fugitive is illegal. I have no delusion I can outfox the US marshals or any other LE agency. But it was an international manhunt. How does that help anything? It's not like this is some spygate scandal. Being in custody wasn't going to jeopordize proving Ryan innocent - if one believes that to be the case. We have due process. He deserves it.
That explains alot. Thanks Jester ! :)
People that didnt see the episodes of Meg/Mill keep saying how creepy he was, etc...
Actually, there was another guy on the show that was REAL CREEPY. Cant recall his name but he was booted pretty fast. When I first heard this, my first thought was that was him instead of it being Ryan.

I doubt Bret Michaels is squeeky clean. I think one of the girls on the last Charm School actually had a warrant for arrest while she was on the show....and she knew it & talked about it. Im sure theres others.

This was discussed last night. There are links & info. His dad has a 19 seat jet
The bmw was still warm when LE got to it at marina. Weird he outran them. I guess it was confirmed to be him (vs a decoy??)
HLN is kind of hyping it. It is already sensational emough IMO. NG said Jasmine left virtually identifiable less the breast implants. She surely has heard of DNA. I changed the channel when she said Jasmine wasn't a striipper or a hooker. :flamingmad: So what if she was, as if it would make a difference in this gruesome crime.
Nancy is doing a crappy job w/ info on this case. Last night she responded to caller saying that Jasmine & Ryan has NO prenup.....that caller was clearly talking about MEGAN & Ryan...he told MEGAN he wouldnt make her sign a prenup.
Since all of this started, Nancy Grace has gotten alot of stuff wrong !

No. He went to Vegas immediately after Megan rejected him. It was at that time he met Jasmine (St. Patrick's Day). They were married 2 days later but the marriage was annulled in May.
Has the annullment been confirmed yet ? Last I heard public records & such are showing them still married.

It doesn't make any difference except to WARN other young women of supposed risky lifestyles. MURDER IS ALWAYS ILLEGAL. No one's saying that. However news links, some of which I've read this evening and have been posted upthread say she and Megan worked at Vegas strip clubs. If other young women become warned, then good maybe lives might be saved.
AP news is carrying the info. from google search
Alot of the news sources said::::
Both the roommate and the friend say Fiore was not a stripper and that Fiore and Jenkins met at a Hawaiian Tropic event in Vegas. And Playboy says Fiore worked as a promo model for a "Girls of Golf" event one time 4 years ago and hasn't worked for Playboy since.
I think its very possible that the contest was in a strip club.

I dont think THAT suitcase he had when he left contained Jasmine.
Pretty much all reports & the man that found the suitcase said it was "blood stained". Also, LE Going on to say that there was NO blood or evidence of foul play in the hotel room.

I am on the fence regarding the suitcase being "the one" It could be the largest one in the set. Could be Jasmine was unconscious when he left with it. Could be irrelevant. But I believe LE knows lots more than they are saying.
I haven't seen LE say what they found in the room. But I could have missed it. Do you recall? I remember the hotel manager saying LE didn't find much. His walls are thin. all NIMBY
LE did not blurt out the mutilation deteails. At the presser, a reporter asked LE if there was any mutilation.
Agent took a deep sigh and said "We are prepared to answer that question" and then revealed the fingers & teeth info. Jasmine's mother collapsed at that point.
The warrant was issued by the court per the DA's filing. They have probable cause to arrest him. He will be afforded due process. So I don't have an evidence issue.

Watching the local news last night, it certainly was alluded to about her being in that suitcase as Jasmine was not seen after that evening of fighting with him in LV.
It was reported that LE have him on video leaving the hotel with his suitcase(s) so I am sure that they know if it was "the" suitcase.
So horrible

I watched the replay of Nancy Grace's show last night and she seemed adamant that she wasn't a hooker. I never heard any such thing except from Nancy Grace. Course she also said in the next breath that Canada welcomes criminals/murderers so it's safe to assume she's into sensationalism.
She had no problem bashing the Van Dam parents when their little 6 yr old daughter was brutally murdered by a neighbor. That clued me how sincere she is about bashing victims. It sickened me and broke my heart for the parents (victims).
First of all Las Vegas has no shortage of nude women on stage. people from all over the world go there to shows. So it's not the shameful thing N. Grace portrays it as. Plus I doubt very much the nation of Canada welcomes murderers. The reporter at the border had to stop her or try to. She's not shy about bashing anyone if it means sensationalism for it's own sake for her own show.
As if anyone needs her telling them how awful murder is and what to think of it.

That's what I'm hearing too. Jasmine said the marriage was annulled, but there's no record of that so far. If they were still married, it puts things in a different perspective. Although they married after only knowing each other for 2 days, marriage is not a joke ... it's a commitment. Any man with a wife that's tormenting him by contacting ex-boyfriends, and making plans to see them, would appear to putting her husband on an emotional rollercoaster. Murder certainly isn't the solution, but it seems like these two were passionate and spontaneous ... and it seems like Jasmine was using jealousy as a weapon. Most 28 year old married women know better than to flirt with an ex-boyfriend under the nose of her husband ... it's cruel, if nothing else.

TMZ said last night that the "smoking gun is a suitcase". I read too that there was blood on the suitcase. Since there was no evidence of a murder in the hotel, and the body was dumped between midnight and 7 AM, I have to wonder where the body was mutilated. Do we know when he left the hotel? I know there was video footage of him leaving, but a time would be helpful.

Her mom said that her suitcase was overstuffed with clothes when she left to go to the poker game. I wonder where the clothes are. If they're at the hotel, then I think it's clear that she died at the hotel and was taken out in a suitcase (that feels weird to write). If the clothes haven't been found, it sounds off. Do we know if the clothes been found?

IIRC it was said somewhere that it was very early in the morning. Can't remember where I heard that!
Also, the drive from LV to LA is all desert. He could have stopped anywhere along the way. Pulled off into the desert and not been seen IMO

I haven't heard Jester but I would bet that he brought them back to the house if he was trying to convince LE that she made it home alive IMO

I think Canadians across the country were shocked and offended by Nancy's comments about Canada. The border is a two way street, but NG somehow implied that the weakness at that particular border crossing was Canada's invitation to murderers to come on in. The border is the responsibility of both countries. The US had the arrest warrant and wanted to capture Ryan, yet when he slipped through the border it was because Canada invited a murderer? Looking to place blame elsewhere?
"I want to go back to the U.S.-Canadian border. Standing by, Carolyn Jarvis, with the "Global National Report" from CNN affiliate, Global News.
Carolyn, walk me through how this may have happened. I`m already learning from you that there was no posting up. There was no alert. Nothing at the U.S.-Canadian border.
CAROLYN JARVIS, GLOBAL NATIONAL REPORT: Yes.
GRACE: As this woman means absolutely nothing. It`s like they invite him. Please, come hide in Canada.
JARVIS: OK, there is no invitation to come to Canada. Let`s be clear. And the welcome mat certainly is not out by Canadian authorities. They are looking for him high and low. But getting into Canada from this point in the United States is pretty easy if you`re determined to do it. In fact, even if you`re not, for that matter."

That's another point that's bothering me. Why didn't he leave her body in the desert? I expect he has GPS on his vehicle, and maybe his movements can be tracked using that. Still, though, if he'd left her in the desert, she could have been "missing" for a long time, and he could have distanced himself from the murder ... that part doesn't make sense to me.
