What is your alltime favorite summer easy reading book? Mine is a tie between The Monk Downstairs and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night.

What is yours?

I love Emily Griffith, she has a few good books that were not only easy reads- but worth reading....

Something borrowed
Something Blue
Baby Proof
Love the one you are with

The first two mentioned were actually the same story, but told from a different perspective, which I thought was interesting and unique....

I am also a huge fan of Jennifer Weiner, she wrote some excellent books such as:

Good in Bed
In her shoes
Certain Girls
Goodnight Nobody
Little Earthquakes

She actually has a new one out, which I need to put on my reading list called best friends...

Love Hampton, by Sherri Rifkin was a great beachy kind of book....

Just finished The Help and My sisters Keeper. Two extrodinary reads for me this summer, long waiting list at library, but worth it.
Looking forward to getting Goodbye Natalie, not on library list as yet.
Ahh, cool night here in northeast.

Oh gosh, it is RARE that I hear of someone else who has read "The Curious Incident....." Wasn't that just the most WONDERFUL book??? I read it quite a long time ago now and just loved it!!! I give that one 5 stars!

I'm a big Picoult fan; My Sister's Keeper was terrific!

I have heard A LOT of wonderful reviews about The Help. Really want to read that one!

"Moscow Rules" by Dan Silva excellent modern day account involving the art restorer Gabriel Allon. Real insight into the workings of the so called debunked, capital of the former soviet union. ultimately as always great techno thriller.

You would probably enjoy "The Time Travelers Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. Unfortunately they are making it into a movie. I hate it when they take a piece of lit that I love and Hollywoodize it. From then on every time it comes up in discussion utter irrelevant crap from the Hollywoodization hogs the conversation.

My favorite so far this year has been one I just finished. Evil at Heart by Chelsea Cain. This was the third in a series (Sweetheart and Heartsick). All three were about a female serial killer named Gretchen and the cop, Archie, who was after her. He becomes sickly sexually obsessed with her and it nearly destroys him. As she physically nearly kills him also. The third one Evil at Heart is really different from other usual sequels. It's hard to explain how it is different, without giving away too much. It was brilliant writing because Cain was able to continue Gretchen's story without over-doing the same old, same old format.

This entire series is different from the usual serial killer stories. Not only do we have a killer who is reallly evil, but you add in the sexual component and the sick sexual obsession that Archie has with her and you have a very different type thriller.

I cannot wait for the next installment.

After struggling and finally giving up on two so-so books, I am into a new paperback and so far it is really engrossing. I am getting an education in homicide, law school, Japanese gardening and culture. Its called "ALIBI" by a gal named Sydney Bauer.
Also liked Michael Connley's "The Brass Verdict". Although Harry Bosch is a supporting character in this book, the main guy is terrific. Good dialogue and interesting.

I haven't read Daniel Silva's Moscow Rules yet because I am now going back and plan to read this series in the order written. And that's after already reading a couple of the books in which Gabriel Allon is the protagonist. It's just something I want to do -- it's just me -- because I have enjoyed Daniel Silva's books so much.

It's certainly not necessary as each book stands alone.

I just finished reading Pat Conroy's South of Broad. His best yet. Beautiful, lyrical descriptions of Charleston ad it really is as beautiful as he says. Except he doesn't mention the soft Southern air. This book has a dark ending which will anger many. I really suggest you rent the movie Doubt after you read the book and it will caste a little different light on it. I am still angry and have been for yrs but getting the message in this movie helped. I also just finished reading Jacquline Mitchard's No Time to Say Goodbye. I suggest you rea dsThe Deep End of the Ocean first because No Time to Say Goodbye does not stand alone and you will mis sfull underrstanding you haven't read The Deep End of the Ocean. My very favorite book last season was Standing In The Rainbow by Fannie Flaff. Like a cool drink of water on a summer's day.
