shooting death in Maywood Calif

Anyone here from Maywood Calif? There was a shooting death a block from my house. I was wondering if anyone knew any facts about it. I heard it was a high schooler. How sad. I dont know if I know the person. I dont know many of my neighbors beyond Hi and Goodbye.

The Maywood shooting, not much info on. No name released but that it was a man and gave the street location of the shooting. Wow, this is all just terrible.

Alfred Richard Chavez was killed. Apparently he was not a gangbanger - but the shooter is. I just googled and came up with some info at Topix.com. Lots of comments from friends and relatives. Not worth it to go to a birthday party. Friends argue - and there is so very often some fool there with a gun!
My mouth fell open when I read the last part of your post.

So, I'm assuming it is de rigueur in some neighborhoods to take a gun to a birthday party.:ohmy:

Thanks all. I found out that our neighborhood is having the police come this wens for a big meeting. Even though I live in not the fanciest of neighborhoods The street I'm on are long time residents, and we are going to see what we can do for family and to prevent future events. I dont know what can be done. Seems like from time to time these things happen, but I'm going to go and see if I can learn something.

Please do let us know what you learn at the meeting. At least LE has the decency to hold the meeting and keep the neighbors informed. I'm proud of them for their efforts on citizen's behalf. Very sad. I'm sorry this happened in your neighborhood. Please stay safe and keep us informed.

Why would boxcutter or 9/11 be discussed here? It is about a shooting in a neighborhood. NRA gun advocates. The poster associated the two.

How does that relate to Boxcutters, 9/11 terrorists FAA? Do you equate a 'hood party agruement settled via illegal gun to masterminding the manipulation of our federal aviation administration and immigration policies? If so, the bangers will be so proud of themselves.

I fully support our constitutional rights to bear arms. But we shouldn't make it so easy for those with BARE minds to brandish illegal weapons in a display of power. chitchat, please update us after the meeting. Some of us are interested in the deets of your OP
