With improvements in the economy and only a fraction of the stimulus money having been spent so far, most Americans -- 72 percent -- say returning the unused portion of the $787 billion dollar stimulus to taxpayers would do more to boost the economy than having the government spend it.

The money was borrowed from other countries, so are these folks saying give it back to those who loaned it? Chinese, Arabs etc. We are broke and have been borrowing all through the Bush Admin, and so have to keep borrowing. If anything it's money borrowed against future taxpayers, our current taxes pay the interest only, not the principle. Of course those that loaned it have our resources and assets as calateral if we default, and returning it too early may have penalties, too. There are signs the recession is recovering, but have a long way to go....as the Admins. has says, - no quick fixes -- And there are those that said even a year ago there was no recession, everything is fine, are many of the same people now who say, there is no recovery. IMHO

How about for every $million dollars they cut out of waste and fraud, this money would match that money to the deficit draw down?

If they can't find enought cuts to bring the expenses $780 billion, the rest goes to taxpayers. Or goes to Medicare and Medicaid to help those uninsured.

Matching funds could relate to billions of dollars off the deficit if the Congress would stop spending!

republicans see Obama stimulus starting to work, now want to try to stop stimulus in it's tracks :(

they will try anything to keep America from recovering, they know a good economy when voters go to the voting booths means they wont be getting any votes

I can only say what I see, were you voted the voice of the American people? when someone posts what most Americans want and that is not what I see, I will post it I can definately say that I don't see Republicans in my area being happy with the non-stimulus package.. Democrats in my area are getting quite fiesty and impatient as well.
