Stimulus cash for weatherization still unspent
Officials blame delay on federal rules governing how much to pay workers

They blame months of mixed signals sent by federal officials, whom they accuse of fumbling the effort to spend money designed to give a languishing economy a boost by lowering utility bills and employing construction workers idled by the housing slump.
Businesses have been buying supplies in hopes of using them from the stimulis money but it still has not been received as promised -- so the business owner sits with unused supplies and nothing to do. Money spent without the money promised.

whoah! what a scoop, it's a long term program...... with oversight....
In time, have patience you naysayers..... all the money was not meant to be spend in like 4 months, more like over next 4 to 6 years. Sounds to me like our govt. is being very conservative with the dollars. Cool. I'm a moderate Democrat. Not a spend and charge GOPer, with no oversight.

I really never recall it being said the STIMULIS money was to take 4-6 years to be spent. It was 12-24 months. It was said to be an "infusion" of money to STIMULATE the econony because of the recession.
In short, if we do not act boldly and swiftly, a bad situation could become dramatically worse. The plan would spend at least 75 percent of the total cost — or more than $600 billion — within the first 18 months, providing a massive infusion of cash to the struggling economy, either through bricks-and-shovels projects favored by Democrats or tax cuts that Republicans have pushed. Either could produce progress the administration could point to if it needs to justify a second economic package.
