View Full Version : My eyesight...

I know I don't get in here that much to post but of course I still read when I can and if I'm not too tired.

My health hasn't been good for awhile and it seems everytime I turn around, it's something. My Internist recently told me I just have not had a good break. I got confirmation that I have an eye disease called Fuch's Cornea Dystrophy. I will eventually go blind and before that happens, hopefully will have a cornea transplant. We are waiting to hear from the Jules Stein Eye Institute @ UCLA-Los Angeles. They have the best physicians/specialists.

My eyesight has been getting worse and I thought it was my diabetes but it's this disease. My cornea right now is swollen (edema) and has bumps all over it.

I'm not scared of the initial surgery but fear rejection from the new cornea. I have so many things going on (autoimmune) that I worry most about that. I will wait until I see the dr up there before working myself up into a tizzy.

The last 4-5 yrs have been tough. It's difficult enough getting old but to be saddled with so many chronic health problems just makes it worse.

Still recovering from my back surgery and doing well after that. I just have lousy genes. This is hereditary by the way-the eye disease. I don't recall my parents having a problem though. It can skip a generation.

I welcome good vibes-prayers. Thank you so much. Kath

Thank you very much for good thoughts. I just received my packet to be filled out for my visit to the Jules Stein Eye Institute up at UCLA in Los Angeles.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that my eyesight would be in danger. Over the last few years, I have had to deal with some heavy duty health issues but this one is by far, the most serious. They say this is hereditary and I keep trying to think back about my parents. My father was having issues with his eyes when he was in his 50's. He was so private that I never knew what happened. It could be he had this.

I'm going to the "best" facility - best doctors regarding my corneas. So I do feel good about that. I'll keep the group up to date. I wanted to get Nancy Grace's recent book but I just can't do a lot of reading(small print)right now so I will wait.

Another senseless killing - talking about that reality star who killed his ex wife. Need to see if Coldwater started a new thread on it. Take care!

With all your health problems you sure do need to take a break, but NOT from here!!

We are there for you.

I got that PM and would like to thank warhorse. You are truly a special lady and I am surprised BEYOND belief. No ONE has ever done anything as nice as this for me.

To my In Session friends whom I still care so much about even though I don't get in here that much anymore. That has a lot to do with my vision. Please watch Nancy Grace's show tonight.
I follow Nancy on Facebook and I just think she is a wonderful human being who is also VERY genuine.

I hope you all will watch her show and buy her book.

Love,
Keno/Kathy

I saw the show with her shout out to you & your picture! Way cool. You are one lovely woman & I am just thrilled she is sending you an audio book. All I did was ask her if her book was out in audio & if so where could it be obtained. She immediately wanted your address so she could send you an audio copy. That is just how she is, she has such a tender heart. Let us know when your audio book arrives.

That was so cool!! I recognized her picture immediately from when Kimi had the photo album for us to see. I was yelling at hubby "I know her! I know her!" :tonguewag:

Yay for Keno getting the audio book.

What a NICE thing for you to do, WH.

Noah, you are just too funny - :-)

war, I will make sure I come in to tell everyone when I receive the audio. I was ecstatic. You did a very nice thing and you have no idea how good it may me feel. I have been dealing with a lot of depression because of this new diagnosis. No one wants to lose their eyesight. I'm very scared and will admit that. I'm human. I have been learning all I can about the disease and reading via email to a group I subscribe to. I would say 50% of the people have had transplants. It's scary because you just do not know if it will take or if your body rejects the cornea. I have so much going against me due to all these chronic illnesses that I have. It's a concern and a big one. I just have to be positive.

war, again you are a good egg and after all you have been dealing with you took the time to do this and it's just wonderful. I honestly thought my vision was changing due to my diabetes. I was shocked to learn it is a rare disease and that only 1-2% of population has it. You made my day as did Ms. Grace. I hope I can do something for you in the near future. We love Nancy and my husband just gets a huge kick out of her. He loves how she makes the snippy remarks about these perpetrators. Well, I need to get off computer. Thank you again-

You do deserve the well earned thanks and kudos- that was a beautiful gesture, and just shows that even with such a recent personal loss, your heart is still so big to think of others and reach out with kindness.

I saw you as well!!!

I made a mental note to watch Nancy after your post and forgot, then I turned it on and there you were, friend of the show!!

Nancy does a wonderful job and I especially like the way she salutes fallen hero's. No one else ever mentions the brave soldiers.

Hi In Session Friends:
I wanted to let you all know that I just received my audio book from Nancy Grace. She also enclosed a darling t-shirt that says on the front: I am Guilty…(backside) of Being a Nancy Grace Fan. I am going to wear it with PRIDE. Tomorrow, I am going to relax on my recliner and start listening to the audio book. I can’t wait. My husband and I never miss her show. Sometimes the hubby can’t watch if he is at work (out on the ocean). He gets a big kick out of Nancy. He’s hooked. We watched last night as they were taking Jasmine’s car to Orange County after it was found in West Hollywood.

I have a lot of respect for Nancy. I need to get a card in the mail to her. Thank you for all the well wishes and positive thoughts for me. It means a lot.

I have been coming here since the first day Laci Peterson went missing. Since getting sick in 2004, I don’t get in here as much. It’s nice to see many are still here posting. Well, take good care and I will continue to pop in.
