FIRST THOUGHTS:

*** And fact-checking Obama: But the president also made some misleading statements of his own at his town hall yesterday. “I have not said that I was a single-payer supporter because, frankly, we historically have had an employer-based system in this country with private insurers, and for us to transition to a system like that I believe would be too disruptive.” But Obama did advocate a single-payer system back in 2003, although since then he has a said a single-payer wouldn’t work. Obama also repeated this line: “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” However, there is nothing in any bill moving through Congress that would enforce that. (In fact, it's surprising the White House continues to push this line -- there is NO way the government can guarantee that a business won't change health care providers. They just can't.) And then Obama said, “We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors.” But AARP put out a statement yesterday saying that it hasn’t officially endorsed any of the bills moving through Congress, although it has said some encouraging words about them.

One of many reasons people are distrustful of this bill and some of what Obama says... Not because they are racist. Gahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

in the current system there is no guarantee your employer will keep the same insurance, that is up to your employer, not you, mine has changed many times

when you choose a plan provided by your employer, that is what you get, what ever they choose and if your happy with that, you can keep that option

Obamacare Pep Rally Fact Check

EXCERPT:

Any doubts that President Barack Obama’s “townhall” in Portsmouth, New Hampshire yesterday was a complete farce were dispelled early on when the hand picked crowd broke out in a chant of: “Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!” at the close of his opening remarks. Recognizing his campaign’s signature slogan, the President responded: “Thank you. I remember that.” Comforted knowing he was surrounded by a room full of die-hard supporters, President Obama then want on to make a number of misleading and outright false statements about the health care legislation still working it’s way through Congress. Here are just seven:

people with Medicare will have both the universal care and Medicare, so how do you figure they will have less options?

It is much easier to attack the person instead of the act or argument, as shown on this thread in numerous posts. Instead of another poster saying in what he did was wrong—they grab for one they believe did the same deed and throw their name out there to deflect the truth of the matter..

yep, attacking Obama seem to be easier then addressing the facts for many, that is for sure

How can anyone feel any kind of validation or gratification from a "hand-picked crowd?" What kind of person would derive satisfaction or think they were doing a job well done with chanting people who do not seem to be independent thinkers.

I get the impression from yesterday's stumbling speech that even OBAMA doesn't know what is in that Healthcare plan of his.

Thankfully, people are keeping up with the mistruths.

“We have the AARP on board because they know this is a good deal for our seniors.” This is just plain false. The AARP released a statement late yesterday directly contradicting the President: “While the President was correct that AARP will not endorse a health care reform bill that would reduce Medicare benefits, indications that we have endorsed any of the major health care reform bills currently under consideration in Congress are inaccurate.”

You guys are doing a fantastic job of documenting BOs falsehoods!

It won't make any difference, of course, to the Left Wing Fringe but - thankfully - their numbers are relatively small (and most of them have carpal tunnel syndrome by now, anyway).

:laugh::laugh:
Yes, you're right in that it won't affect those not willing to face the facts....but it probably goes a long way with those coming here for information - factual information.

How would it look, on national TV, if BO wasn't well-received? All his town hall meetings are BO-friendly by design, and therefore lack spontaneity and credibility, IMO.

Re the AARP: They're walking a fine line in the center lane. Members have been destroying their membership cards due to AARP's support of Obamacare. It is a liberal lobbying group. AARP and SEIU are interconnected. On their website, there is a hyperlink in the upper right hand corner to "Divided We Fail". When clicking it and upon arriving there, SEIU is visible in multiple locations along with AARP. You will recall that the WH dispatched SEIU to the town hall meeting with instructions to "punch harder", which they took literally with violence.

Here is the AARP link: http://www.aarp.org/

Now wait just a minute, here!

Are you accusing the Dems of utilizing "Astroturf Brown Shirts"???

This is in complete contradiction to the Left Wing Talking Points that clearly point out that the Republicans are utilizing "Astroturf Brown Shirts"!

And I don't really want to see any links or hear any arguments that support your preposterous claim - regardless of their validity!!

:laugh::laugh:

LOL! If you want to know what this regime is planning/thinking, all you have to do is listen to the accusations they make about those with opposing views.

The astroturfs I saw were wearing purple shirts.

You're exactly right. There has been untruths done on both sides and then they use more untruths to try to dispel the other side's untruths.

It is like a never ending cycle with these people.

It is necessary to have fact checkers, but then you have biased sites using untruths or parsing to point out the problems. There is no place you can count on for accurate information.

Exactly! :scared:

That's for sure. When are people going to realize they are playing us off one another?

I think more and more people are realizing this daily. This regime constantly creates villains to promote their agenda; among them FNC, conservative radio hosts, CEOs, physicians, LE, and now the American people; the latter being their biggest and most fatal mistake. They've not only awakened a sleeping giant, they've actually created it themselves through their "arrogance, dismissive, derisive', divisive words and actions.

Do you honestly think President Obama would do something detrimental to this country? Seriously.
I am so fearful his agenda is not the cause of your opposition.
I read this board for 2 weeks before I decided to participate because of the anger and nasty comments.
It's not normal to attack a man and his family in such a vicious manner.

So it was okay for GOP govt. to make a spectacle of the courts and Congress and the President over Terri Shiavo, for moral, end of life issues and interfere with states' right and individual rights, and now they are against govt. having anything to do with private health issues or gouging insurance companies. I just don't get it.

Well, Bush DID start an undeclared war. He DID illegally wire tap Americans. He DID lie to America numerous times.
He had 8 years to provoke the indignation of Americans and the world., President Obama has been in office nearly 8 months.

Do you condone Bush's lies and deceit to us? Do you accept that he took this country down to the level of the Great Depression? Personally, I am beginning to believe he mumbled thru his press conferences on purpose.
He was a terrible man and a worse Commander In Chief.

Amen.:read: Me thinks they protest too much over imagined peril. Why was this nation bankrupt on Jan. 20th, 2009? Alas, Dems will clean up the mess left by them, like Clinton did after Reagan/Bush....And Roosevelt after Hoover, and the viscious cycle will happen again?

To answer your first question....Yes I Do, all in the name of having complete power over the people of this nation.
His agenda is the ONLY cause of our opposition. Stop trying to bring that ugly R word into it...furthermore, on this forum I haven't seen any vicious attacks on Obama or his family....the comments are mild compared to the nastiness and lies told about Bush and his family. I've been on this forum a long while, and I have a great memory.

Do so I understand you advocate violence for someone you do not like? If not advocate (perhaps too strong a word) it you say there are extenuating circumstances to advocate violence? To threaten a man’s life—the POTUS and his families?

Not only was Laura’s life threatened-- they threatened to sexually assault her as well. Again if you are against violence towards anyone—then you must condemn such across the board – not make excuses as it seems you do in your post above.

“Imagined peril”, so are you telling me that Obama’s is imagined as well? Or is that different? Are you telling me Laura Bush’s life was not threatened and George Bush’s was not as well? Is this what you are claiming? If so then you are propagating false hoods. Or you are saying that it is okay because it was Bush because the nation was bankrupt?

So, let's see.... on Jan 20th there was a 20 car pile up... and that justified Obama intentionally making it a 1000 car pile up and I'm suppose to believe Bush made him do it?? Spare me. Dems can't even clean up Medicare, Medicaid and SS - their programs I might add. If Obama wanted to start cleaning up the mess, he should have investigated every Dem connected to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, every Dem that was responsible for the policies the Dems enacted to make these bankrupt agencies what they are today. I'm still waiting to see when he starts cleaning up these messes, and when he starts showing Americans he even has the b---ls to roll up his sleeves and get to work investigating there. But oh no, he has to get his fingers into every pie of the US. Do you still own GM? the banks? Obama is a bigger liar than Bush, and a thug tactic politician. Change the way things work in Washington? yeah, right! You've made partisanship even worse.

I forgot, which dem was it that inserted the CEO's of these corrupt corporations could still collect their bonuses—after getting millions of tax payer’s money to bail out their failing company’s?

Oh yeah, It was Chris Dodd.

And Governor Palin. Remember the Sanda Barnhart quote where she expected her brothers to gang rape the Governor when she visited NY.
I did not see the NOW libs (like thousand of others stopped all donations to them and dropped membership) or others Libs decrying this ugly statement. As a matter of fact, neither did the Dems.
"First they came for the Jews..................."

I do believe their hypocrisy is showing. I had forgotten that. Yup she wanted her gang raped and I had forgotten about Madonna saying she was going to "kick her ___".

Oh no, dems do not ignore violence and or threats of violence... never.

Not to mention they seem to embrace violence against women:

Such as misogynist rants against Hillary Clintion Like Keith Olbermann. He flatly said a (male) Democratic super delegate should take Hillary Clinton into a room, and only the man should emerge.

I just shake my head. The way Hillary was treated by the media during her run was shameless IMO.
