I admire this man for standing up for his son and for what he thinks is right.

What's wrong with the amendment? Just that its an amendment and not part of the original thing? It seems adequate to me, and I have a handicapped kid too.
The Yelling First is ridiculous. Pelosi calling anyone UnAmerican is also ridiculous. The behavior at these Town Meetings is scary.
I'm going to go read the actual text of the bill and try to contribute something more intellectual to the discussion of Health Care Reform.

Yea real informed guy. Just wants to be heard before the government " puts them down "

Have you ever read anything on Eugenics?

He's trying to be informed, but the problem is....the senators have not read the bill and do not even know what ALL is in the bill, so we can't get informed by them.

What he meant by being put down was that his son that has cerebral palsy could DIE if he doesn't have the same care he is getting now. I sympathize with him.

I don't understand his concern about his son losing current services. I would need to see the texts before I can sympathize, except with the general desire to maintain services.

Just a comment - and not trying to be argumentive - but an amendment to me is the same as an "afterthought" and I don't think anyway wants to be looked at that way. MO

I understand the point, but I don't think it matters much in the results. Handicapped people are often afterthoughts, and I know from being a special needs mom that people everywhere have to reminded of the existence of the handicapped and their rights. As long as it gets in there I'm okay with it. It would be great if NPDs (Not Presently Disabled)s would always think about the needs of the Currently Disabled but I doubt that will happen anytime soon without heavy encouragement.
