House drops plans to buy fancy jets
Planes were to be used to ferry senior government officials
Story highlights:
Two of the planes equal to Gulfstream 550--a yacht of an airplane-- cost taxpayers $130 million each
Lawmakers “villinazied” the car makers for the same.
Murtha: If pentagon does not want planes will we not take
Pelosi agrees with Murtha but sees a fight from other law makers.
Other monies condemned
Defense Secretary Robert Gates condemned hundred of millions in the bill saying he did NOT NEED nor did he ask for many other planes added onto the Defense bill. (These planes are different than the fancy jets for carrying congress around. )

Like to see some of them sit on a tarmack in a crowded jet, toilets overflowing, babies crying and no food, the plane smelling...
Yet the taxpayers pay for these fools to fly on Gulfstreams... I don't think so, it's time the taxpayers wake up and let these "elected" ding dongs that they work for us. the taxpayers..
And that does not put them a level above us IMO...

That's why congress loves pork, it goes unseen. I have a feeling they will get their jets quietly when no one is looking.

Oh my gosh, no telling. I wouldn't put anything past them. They behave as if they think they're royalty. Especially Pelosi. I read in the Los Angeles Times that she spends a lot by flying her family to and from DC to Frisco.
Someone said on CNN that she's not popular in DC. That she's thought of as a laughing stock. Can't remember who it was, some news announcer on CNN early one morning.
They need to get her out of there, she's way too arrogant. mo

I have a feeling you're right about that. They'll create some horse and pony show distraction for the masses while they slide the expensive bill thru. Over the years I've seen them fast track in the middle of the night some bills that affect our daily lives profoundly.

Strange that very few find a problem with this OUTRAGEOUS spending during a recession/depression. Or is it because they will not condemn their own party for frivolous spending? It's ok when one party does it and we can justify it--- but if the opposing party does then all they are terrible for taking so much from the taxpayers while they have no jobs, food, etc.... wow, just wow!

I agree she needs to go because all that power she has went to her head and people are seeing it and not liking it. IMO

So everyone was in an uproar over congress spending $200 million on three C37s (Gulfstream G Vs, they (congress) then add another $330 million for a couple C40s (B737) and some mo' C37s, the plusher 'B' model (Gulfstream 550s), and more outrage from the public. The scammers drop the request for the additional $330 million of aircraft so we're back to the first 3 C37s at a cost of $200 million and now everyone seems OK with it.
Seems as long as it is their party getting the taxpayers cash-- all is fine.

America, love it or leave it. I've never seen so much dislike our govt., dislike of elected officials in my lifetime, since the Vietnam War, unless it was in the 80s when locally you'd think teachers and policeman were the entire problem with America for asking for a cost of living increase, after 2 or 3 years of taking a freeze in salary.

Oh Please, there was so much hate spread about Bush and protestors/protests how can you can claim such with a straight face? Death threats, violence, people at his ranch daily with signs shouting hate and rage...

If we weren't paying attention, they would have gone ahead with the purchase. But the American people are starting to pay attention to the ridiculous spending of these public employees. Can we please take away their credit cards? I swear, they're like children.

What you say is true. And more people that were too busy with their own lives to follow politics are now taking notice than ever before. That is very telling.
When our own families are at risk by the taking over by government, people wake up. They talk with family friends and neighbors. They are worried, just as the "mob" of the little people that Congress is SUPPOSED to represent. The usually silent ones.
Something is going to happen, either another look at what the government can and cannot do by nature of Amendments 9 and 10, or complete states getting fed up and not adhering to the controversial "law of the land."
