Hiya Toby!
Been missing you this summer!

Yeah, the Titans looked strong last night!
Getting nervous about my Colts

LOVED the Throwback Unis!
I had to explain it to my husband lol.
Of course I remember well the old Houston Oilers especially the famous Double Zero,Billy "White Shoes" Johnson.
Ahhhhh,those were the days.
My Cowboys ruled then and I was a happy girl.

I am fixing to get head high in high school football. I'll keep you up-to-date on my son---he could be D-1 somewhere in the midwest!

Yeah...those throwback uniforms would've been confusing to anyone who hadn't followed the history of the Titans. Heck they were even confusing me! LOL.

Good that the team is remembering Steve all season though.

Not your fault Kat... it's the owners and management's fault.. kind of like us Niner fans having to deal with the York's.. idiots that they are.. thank god their son has taken over and he's getting pointers from Uncle Eddie... only took how many years... hopefully with Mike Singletary at the helm we have a chance now...

Hopefully your team has just got a expensive bench warmer.. wouldn't want to see him on the field with any respectable NFL player.. but that's just me... and welcome.. going to be a fun season.. don't worry about it...

Hi sunstar :seeya:

Eddie George is hosting a Charity Event tonight to raise money for Steve's Foundation. All the Titans are supposed to go after the game.

Bet Eddie and Coach have split time with the boys. They also said the boys have been here for all of training camp. Pretty much every time they go to commercial, they show them. They are cute as can be. It's like little Steve's sitting there. So sad.

I'm just glad they have been here. Something good to help keep their minds occupied. I'm sure Coach and Eddie have taken them fishing. Coach told them that he would at Steve's Memorial.

Hi Dawn! :seeya: Congrats on the Titans winning last night! I wish I could've seen the game and Steve's boys. I remember Jeff saying he'd take care of them, along with Eddie. Brett Favre headed to Minnesota

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Brett Favre will sign with the Minnesota Vikings this afternoon for around $12 million, according to sources at ESPN.

Brett Favre boarded a plane today (Tuesday) at 9:10 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport.

The plane's destination was St. Paul, Minnesota.

Eyewitnesses saw Favre, his wife Deanna and her sister at the airport before the flight departed, but it is unclear who boarded the plane besides Brett. The vehicle that dropped him off was no longer at the airport minutes after departure. As Favre was leaving he commented, "We may know something by dinner."

BTW who the heck are the Niners????

I feel the same way about BF--and he was my hero for a very long time and my favorite player, ever.

And, yeah, who are the Niners? Or for that matter, the Texans?

Hi guys,!!

Just wanted to thank you for the welcome and to weigh in on for a sec on the latest topics.

1)Favre..I would have more respect if he chose not to play for a division rival, however, I understand the guy's love for football, and as far as I know, Brett has never caused any trouble , so let him play.
I don't think he will make it through the whole year though.

But, on the other hand, if Donovan McNabb ever ended up a Cowboy, I would have the same feeling as CW...

2) Vick......This still makes me sick and I wish it never happened.
He can bring nothing to my team that will make me or my friends happy.
I truly wish he had banned from football forever, he does not deserve the right to play.

Hi Dawn, and Sunstar, and TitansFan, and everyone, and to CW, good to see you all here with real football getting ready to start.

I am not much into preseason, just holding my breath that no one gets hurt!!

Good luck to all your teams!!
:)

Several other's had the same question, as did CW. BTW, the Houston Texans are a Fantasy Football Team. hahahahaha  That was the first clue that DJ isn't an avid fan. There are the Houston Oilers, and the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL, but no Texans. As for the Niners???? Who knows? Maybe the S.F. 49ers???

I don't understand this remark. I'm just assuming that "niners" means the 49er's. As for the Houston Texans, they may be bad, but they're not fantasy. The game is still being re-televised right this moment on the NFL channel, CST. Almost over, but you could catch the last of it. Why don't you click on the link, and see for yourself. I don't think they've been around too long compared to the Oilers and Cowboys, but again, I'm not a football fan. Just had to watch with son (a Saints fan).

Being I am only allowed the icons...:biggrinjester::biggrinjester::biggrinjest er:

I find the posts quite amusing... about my knowledge of football...

This coming from a NINER FAN, or if you want to call them the SF Forty Niner's.. drive thru the Bay Area sometime and see how many license plates you see on cars that say NINER FAN.. Tell that to the tshirt and sweatshirt people attire with NINER FAN..

Oh one more thing... was just at Green Bay's Lambeau Field two winters ago... loved it... most gorgeous stadium I have ever seen... my husband is a diehard Green Bay fan from his youth.. I like them too..

Oh one more thing... don't want to pat myself on the back but do you honestly want to know how many football pools I have won by picking the winning team, over/under and point spread...

Oh one more thing... Had two son's that played football, I coached my daughter's cheerleading squad so please do not assume you know what I know about football.

Been a NINER fan since 1980...or before...

http://www.ninersnation.com/

Oh and gosh oh golly lookie here.. who the NINER'S play on Oct. 25th

The HOUSTON TEXAN'S

http://stats.sfgate.com/fb/teamstats.asp?team=34

Maybe when you reincarnate yourself for the umpteenth time you will come back with a little more KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE NFL..

Have a nice day...

My thoughts are complicated - like his decisions.

He's the GREAT Favre on one hand by putting Green Bay back on the map, bringing the Super Bowl back (along w/Reggie W. of course)
lots of companies in GB made lots of money because of him. We had lots of good years to be at the games so I still appreciate his skills.

The EGO Favre is disappointing to me, BUT I hope he's not pushing his luck and get hurt. But hey, gold, green, purple - he made his choice, he has to live with it, we get to gripe and joke about it, in the end
someone else will come along and get all the limelight.

Now if you want to know what I REALLY feel PM me.

BTW who the heck are the Niners????

Should of done that four in purple huh... 4

Don't be pulling my leg CW that you didn't know who the "Niner's" are... how often do we play you guys...lol... that and the Cowboy's are two of our most relished games...lol.

Came to work today and had a boatload of Favre jokes... pretty funny some of them.

Sad to see he let his relationship with the Packer's go the way it has even in his retirement.. He was great with them.. and had quite a legacy.. personally think he should of stayed retired.. but hey.. what do I know about football...:tonguewag::wink:

LOL, Like you everything I know about football I learned starting in kindergarten!! Now who are the Vikings???

Little Jen impatiently raises her hand... teacher teacher I know I know..

That's where fickle Favre plays now.. :tonguewag: That would be Minnesota.. rotflmbo...

Ya gotta admit.. that's going to be one heck of a game... and a do not miss...

I guess I shouldn't even try to comment on this thread. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. Was the poster being facetious by saying that the Texans and Niners don't exist, and that the Texans are fantasy?? Because something like that does not always come thru in print. I was more or less forced to watch the Saints vs. Texans game.. So I post a link thinking a poster just didn't know about a relatively new team (Houston Texans) and was using this to rebuke CW and dinojin. But now the Vikings are being questioned??

So it was all just a good natured joking, right? And I was "out of the loop"?

Lesson learned. Never comment on a thread unless I read the entire thing. But the offensive (joking???) posts have disappeared except in quotes...?? Color me confused.

Jump right on in anytime.. think we had a reincarnate just stirring the pot.... we all know CW knows her NFL teams...lol.

Will be glad when preseason is over.. I want the real stuff to start.

I had no clue that Garcia had been sent to the Raider's as a backup QB.. wonder how he felt playing against his old team the NINERS..:tonguewag:

I feel the same way about BF--and he was my hero for a very long time and my favorite player, ever.

And, yeah, who are the Niners? Or for that matter, the Texans?

The only Texans I know of is the NFL "Dallas Texans" back in the 50s. They didnt last long though. That would be PRE-Cowboys.
The Dallas Cowboys came in 1960ish

We will see alot of Do-Overs this year.........maybe for as long as The *new* Cowboys Stadium exists. JJ is pretty much refusing to raise the HD Super Duper Jumbo Tron and thats not good for ANY football team. Apparently the NFL approved its location.

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/25/sports/football/25sandomir.html
Photo so you can see EXACTLY how big is. Its almost as wide and the field is long.

Ball hit the screen (bars)
33 second video...first shot is normal speed , then you'll see the slow mo.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubAwWcPKYn4

Note: this happened ALOT during the practice/warm ups AND also the game.

Whats yalls opinion on this ? Imo, I think it warps the game - outside interference not dead ball , imo. Sooooo many do-overs will have to happen. . . or anyone the kicks, will have to modify their talent in kicking.....which would also mess up the games outcome.

You'd think if the stadium cost approx. 1.2 BILLION dollars, he would of focused ALOT on that screen.

The board is 90 feet above the field and stretches from roughly one 20-yard line to the opposite 20-yard line. It is 72 feet tall and 160 feet long, according to the Cowboys.

While reading at Senator Kennedy's Senate website, I found this interesting bit of information. I shared it with the Packer's
number one fan, Coldwater, and she urged me to post it here:

Almost a Packer

On November 20, 1955, in a 21-7 defeat to Yale, Harvard's lone score came on a low five-yard pass that was snared by #88, the Senior Right End Ted Kennedy.

Just one month earlier, Kennedy's promise on the football field had caught the notice of Green Bay Packer Head Coach Lisle Blackbourn. "You have been very highly recommended to us by a number of coaches in your area and also by our talent scouts as a possible Pro Prospect," Blackbourn wrote to the young Right End.

Kennedy declined the offer, saying he was flattered, but that he had plans to attend law school and to 'go into another contact sport, politics'.

http://kennedy.senate.gov/senator/#packer

Just imagine how different history would have been, had Ted chosen
the football field, instead of politics?

Last night's salute by the Boston Red Sox was so moving. You could hear a pin drop in that stadium, as they played taps for the Senator.
Mike Barnicle said that one of three photographs by the Senator's body, as he lies in State at his home, was of him throwing out the first pitch at a recent Red Sox game.

So seeing the game tonight is a little heartbreaking in some ways for me. I appreciate you all being open to listen to me. I really don't have anyone to talk too right now. Thanks

Thank you Scampi, that is very nice of you. I don't know if I will make it to the internet every sunday, but I'll keep in session in mind. My grandad lived only a couple of hors from D.C. , he was a big fan of the 70's era football, when John Riggins and joe theisman and art monk were playing. My favorite era was probably early 90's but I have a soft spot for the 70 and 80's era too. It is hard not to enjoy a heated Redskins vs Cowboys game.
Thanks for the kind thoughts.

That way it will cover the Mon., Thur, Sat. & Sun. games for a full week and will not make the thread so long throughout the season. If anyone has a better suggestion please advise.

It sounds like a great idea, but could it be Tuesday morning instead, since the Monday night games are part of the preceding weekend, like this Monday 9/14 is still week #1?

Stopping in long enough to congratulate everyone's team who won today, and if you didn't win, it is a long, long season.

Try this, one minute we are screaming over a touchdown, and the next, our QB is down.

McNabb has a broken rib and is out for awhile.

Eagles' Reid: McNabb's status uncertain with cracked rib

Philadelphia Eagles
Posted 10 minutes ago

Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb's status is uncertain for the Eagles' game against New Orleans next Sunday because of a cracked rib.

"He's pretty sore," coach Andy Reid said Monday. "He's going to try and battle through it. He'll struggle to practice. He's going to do everything he possibly can to try to play. We'll see how that goes. He's staying optimistic about that."

McNabb is not ruling himself out.

"Not necessarily, anything can happen. It's just Monday right now, but if Friday and Saturday come along and I'm feeling a lot better, you just never know," he said. "It's a slow process of just meeting with our trainers, doing two-a-days with treatment, going through the process of just like I'm playing in the game, and seeing how I feel at the end (of the week)."

Third-year pro Kevin Kolb filled in for McNabb during Philadelphia's 38-10 victory over Carolina in the season opener. He would start against the Saints if McNabb can't play.

Michael Vick is not eligible because he was suspended for the first two regular-season games as the last part of the league penalty for his role in a dogfighting ring. Vick probably wouldn't start even if he could play because he's still rusty and Reid has maintained all along that Kolb is the backup.

The Eagles don't have a fourth QB on their roster, so they'll need someone to back up Kolb if McNabb can't play. Veteran A.J. Feeley, who was 4-3 filling in for McNabb in 2002 and 2007, is a logical choice to be re-signed. Feeley was released on Sept. 6.

"We have a lot of respect for A.J. but I know other people in this league do, too," Reid said.

McNabb got hurt when he took a hard shot on a 3-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He spun away from a defender at the goal line, but was nailed by Panthers nose tackle Damione Lewis on the ground in the end zone.

"I can't say anything on that," Reid said. "You get those 300-plus pound guys motoring and it's hard to stop. Sometimes they come in a little bit late."

McNabb played an injury-free season last year for the first time since leading the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2004.

GOOOOOOOOO EAGLES!Great game on Sunday (except for Donovan's injury).

WOW... Eagles signed Garcia after Raider's released him...

Jeff Garcia is back with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Eagles coach Andy Reid on Monday confirmed the team has signed Garcia, a 10-year veteran who played for Philadelphia in 2006 and went 6-2 in eight starts - including the playoffs - while McNabb was injured. The team needed a backup quarterback in case McNabb, who suffered a broken rib in Philadelphia's 38-10 win over Carolina in the season opener, is not able to play this week against the New Orleans Saints.

Third-year pro Kevin Kolb filled in for McNabb and will start this week if McNabb is out, Reid said.

when oh when oh when will I ever learn????????????????

Once again, the Bills kill me. I was determined not to get my hopes up. I was only going to vaguely keep track of the game because I expected the Bills to lose big......but no, the Bills come out and play pretty decent and had the lead 24-13 with 5 minutes left...and of course, me, fool that I am, was hoarse from screaming at the tv because I had to get into it after all...

And then they lose.

I'm so ticked off right now I'm pounding on my key board and sweat is dripping down my neck.

Buffalo sports teams have done nothing but give me grief.

I'm in the same boat my San Diego teams give me grief too! My Chargers better play better this Sunday better then they did against the Raiders which should have been an easy win for us.
