I've always been interested in how animals compare with us. Here is the dog:

I just love dogs. Cats too. I think they are smarter than some give them credit for.

I especially love to hear stories about how loyal and loving they can be.

Me too Gary!!! I have 2 german shepherds...father and daughter, they are house dogs, we (hub and I) are the rest of their pack, and they are so loyal, loving, protective and smart as heck. The only problem I have with
GSD's is they shed 365 days a year...our vacuum cleaners really get a work out...LOL. We refer to them as our fur babies, the funny thing is the male weighs 130 and the female 90...some 'babies' they are. :tongueside:

My beagle sheds SO SO SO bad! I found the BEST and ONLY vac for me is the Dyson. It's a dream!

And they're way smarter than a 2 year old, I swear he's smarter than me sometimes, at minimum Dakota can outsmart me at times. He's the only dog I've ever had that can open a door, I don't mean push it open, I mean he can turn the knob and pull it open. Scary smart.

I'm going to knit me another GSD with all that hair I've vacuumed. What I want to know is how I can finish three hours of vacuuming only to find that I need to start all over again?

lol, I use a furminator on him daily & he loves it, but isn't it supposed to cut down on that shedding?

LOL I love your post ROS, I, too, use a furminator, but I could use it once an hour and still get a heap of fur. I recently bought one of those 3 min. bath things they advertise on TV, got it at Petsmart...they are very good at bringing up the coat nearest the skin, so my kidlets get a bath just before I brush with the furminator...does it help you ask?.............Nope...but they sure love it....lol. I bathe them on my deck...and then have to hose and sweep it as well...bath day for them is fun...for me it's WORK. But having GSD's with the love they show, makes it all worthwhile.

I so agree! I think they're underestimating the "age" too. How many two year old children can be trained to be LE K9 "officers", detect bombs, detect drugs, search & rescue, guides for the blind, detect human bodies ~ alive or dead, and so forth?

nice link. so I guess this means cats have the mentality of a 5 year old.
Cats are so like women. clean, independent, smart, picky about mating, compassionate, and they walk with a lean , sexy stroll. :tongueside:

Too cute!! My cats actually have the intelligence of at least a 10 y/o.
