I don't know if there is anybody on here who remembers this case, but I remember discussing it way back when under a different name. Anyway, this man shot and killed a 15 year old boy who was walking on his lawn. He committed suicide at the Lebanon Correctional Facility yesterday.

Sorry that I couldn't find an old thread to stick this in. Don't know that it is worthy of it's own thread, so hopefully somebody with more insight than I can place it where it needs to be.

Thank you for the link.

Here's another from 2007:

From the link, sounds like this murder was premeditated - planned and deliberate. I can only imagine what this poor family has suffered after the loss of their child.

I can probably pretty much guess what they might be feeling right now with this news about their son's murderer.

imo

I don't understand why the Highway Patrol is part of the investigation. They have nothing to do with a suicide at the Dept of Correction. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

imo
I missed that, but you're right - why the Highway Patrol if it happened inside the prison?

Maybe because they come under the Office of Public Safety which also oversees the Criminal Justice Department and the Ohio Investigative Services?

An abundance of caution, to avoid criticism of the investigation?

A quick check of Ohio law reveals why, they have "criminal law jurisdiction" on "state property".

(A) 4th par.

The superintendent or any state highway patrol trooper may enforce the criminal laws on all state properties and state institutions, owned or leased by the state..
