I'm a Democrat and I say good: whatever side of the aisle, do the crime pay the time or fine.

Yeah, right!
Yes, correct. I said as much here (I'm sure it's archived somewhere) when news of Jefferson broke a few years ago; and said same about the NY Gov., and NJ guy all Dems, and Ill. Gov., etc as well as for Republicans.

The idiots in Congress who objected to the search were of both parties - but MORE Republicans than Democrats.
Glad to hear the jury got it right. I wish they could speed those trials up somehow.

Objecting to a search wouldn't necessarily be the same as defending Jefferson, would it?
And how many members of the Congressional Black Caucus - which, I believe, did support Jefferson - are Republicans?
:confused:Objecting to a search is just wrong, and is saying criminal behavior can be sheltered, should be protected. Everyone should be open to reasonable scrutiny.
Objecting means you think it's OK to leave a corrupt member in congress, rather than allow a reasonable and well grounded search like any other citizen might have.
I don't know - how many black people have Republicans voted to Congress? I don't know what did or did not support Jefferson - I just know no poster here did that I recall. And I know that I was outraged that they went after the feds for doing their job, when Jefferson was reasonably searched, and wrote to ALL those in my area who did so - regardless of party.

Wow that was a long freaking trial-investigation, long drawn out affair.. a non-politician would have had a much quicker trial. Looks like he was finally found quilty of 11 out of 16 counts.

And, yeah, it was largely Republicans protesting, acting like being a member of Congress made you above the law.

Isn't Duke Cunningham still in prison? Maybe they could put them together in the same prison so they would have someone they could talk to.
Jefferson was a piker when compared to Cunningham. LOL
