President Barack Obama brought his latest prescription for recovery to this economically ravaged region of northern Indiana, promising Wednesday to “unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some.” Obama told a gathering of community that the federal government would distribute $2.4 billion in 48 taxpayer grants to create next-generation electric cars and recreational vehicles. The grants will be divided among 25 states. Afterward, the president talked with Chuck Todd, NBC News’ political director and chief White House correspondent, who asked Obama questions submitted by msnbc.com readers. He said the grants would foster a clean environment, encourage new investments in science and boost education efforts — what he called “the pillars for communities like Elkhart to rebuild itself.”

It makes me angry that the repubs want (& are bought & paid for) so that prosperity will only come to a select few. :flamemad:

From the op. That is the way it should be.

“unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some.”

“unleash prosperity for everybody, not just some.”

Definition: : the condition of being successful or thriving ; especially : economic well-being

I would say that defines the majority. Do you honestly think that 100% of the people are going to be prosperous? Does everyone have to be prosperous at the same level or do you believe that some will live in million dollar mansions while others live in very nice but modest homes? Exactly what are you expecting from our government?

Maybe you should work for what you want? I know, it's a novel idea.

LOL . . . of course he talked to MSNBC. I'm sure he wouldn't want anybody from the "mob" to ask him any direct questions.

Oh so now it's back to "health care overhaul" and just this morning it was "health INSURANCE reform".

Yikes, I guess they ran another poll and found out the "insurance boogyman" schtick wasn't working now that everyone knows it is nothing but a schtick.

I have faith that health care overhaul will happen. I feel happy to know that those who are trying to line their pockets are being found out for what they are.

I honestly never thought I'd enjoy this administration as much as I have; and we still have 3 and a half years to go.
I'm surprised it started so quickly! I thought it would be a little more stealthy. Can't wait for the 2010 elections!

And when we "unleash" the prosperity, this guy is going to be standing right there to nab it:

Gee, I guess now that they got a bunch of clunkers off the road they realize they be getting short-changed by cars that get a better MPG.

Earth to Blumenauer - that is kind of what a gas tax does but you don't have to waste more money implementing it.

Let's hope that your optimism is on target.

I dunno, I'm doing a balancing act between bad Demographics for Conservatives and absolute Stupidity for Liberals.

Thinking it over, I guess I have confidence in the American People - they won't KNOWINGLY vote in Stupidity again (as opposed to the last time when they were snookered!).

I'm hanging my hat on the hope that Americans will NOT stand for any LOSS of their freedoms! This latest snitching request is outrageous. Wonder what all the people who risked their lives to come here and run away from such government tactics are thinking now??
