This is a must! I'm little fuzzy on last season. It's too long in between seasons IMO.
I can hardly wait for that JON HAMM!!! That man just makes me melt!!! Oh my, right now he is the sexiest guy to me on tv. His character can be a dog, but I don't care. I adore this guy. His acting is so effortless. Why don't they put him on some cover saying he's the sexiest man alive? Well, maybe it's just me who feels that way.
Love the show. Love the writing. Love the cast.....Yeah!!

Great cast, great writing, and he is fabulous.
You are definitely not the only one. I was talking to my niece who is 25, scary smart and close to getting her Ph.D. in psych. She said she was typing and I teased her about abandoning academia to become a secretary. She said: "I would if I could be Don Draper's secretary!"
And I have a feeling she wasn't completely joking!
Hey Jaxback, I agree. I would like to have just one dance with that man. You know it's funny that he is more attractive when dressed as Don Drapper. I have seen him on tv in casual clothes without his 1960's hairstyle and he doesn't look quite as good...still good, but not the same.
I can't wait to discuss the episodes as they air. I usually post and read on their network site. It will be nice to have one here too. It's such an intellectual show. There are all kinds of layers in the storyline. I love that.
Can't wait for Damages to return too.

I love this show!! I watched season 2 on demand a few weeks ago just to refresh my memory.
Don's secretary (can't remember her name, how's that for memory?) just gave birth to Campbell's baby. :w00t:
Don was having an affair with the Jewish lady, can't remember her name either, boy I'm batting 1000 here.
This season should be great!

I miss my on-demand. Loved it with my cable. Now, I live in a more rural area. Had to get Direct TV and satellite internet.
AMC is running a marathon today (8/10). Love to DVR it so I can ff through the commercials. Also, they are showing lots of promos for the new season.

This show is fantastic and is so true to life of what it was like in the 60's.
No surprise that Don is still up to his old tricks. I felt bad for Sal Romano; he's such a nice, sweet guy but so conflicted.
Back in the day I had an IBM typewriter, London Fog raincoat, and panty girdle w/ stockings, all featured on the show!

I had all those things, too - and felt sooooooo modern, LOL!

That preview went so quickly I thought I might go to the site and watch it again. The main Sterling Cooper characters are so good I hope they don't get fired. Mad Men is like the Sopranos to me in that you really have to be patient while the storyline develops.

ITA about the Sopranos comparison. That's of of the things I love about Mad Men - it's really aimed at grown ups who like to think about and be intrigued by the possibilities. I can't say I'd put Trueblood in exactly the same category just because of the gorefest it sometimes turns into, but it's another smart, incredibly entertaining series that keeps you guessing.
Were you a fan of Huff? I loved it and was sooooo pizzed when they just abruptly took it off the air without even ending the storyline
I'm not familiar with Huff. I did enjoy MM last night. Not enough steamy stuff with Don though. I'll have to give it time.
I taped and will watch later tonight again, but who was the baby in the opening scene? Was that Don and Don's mother when she got pregnant?
Also, the pin that Don's daughter found in his luggage, did that belong to the airline attendant who spent the night with him?
Was the story he told on the flight about how he had his brother-in-law's name on his luggage true or a story to cover something up? Remember when he disappeared in Californina? I couldn't remember if there was some connection.
Debb, I thought the baby was Don, the pin was from flight attendant, but your idea on the luggage tag went totally over my head. Don't remember Betty's bro's name.

It's just that he lies so much, I never know when to believe what he says. LOL!
I did catch the story he was telling his daughter at the end when she asked them to tell her the story of when she born. He says it was in the middle of the night and he was getting home from work! Yeah, right! No way. You just know he was just getting home from a liason with another woman.
He is such a dog, but I love him anyway. He has already started the season off with his old ways. It wasn't really his fault though. That flight attendant practically forced herself on him. Right? LOL.

Debb, I think the baby was Dick/Don. Remember that his (prostitute) mother died, (I believe in childbirth after having him) and he had to live with the step-mother who treated him so badly because "he was the son of a hoor". (I guess Don's dad was the prostitute's "john" who fathered Don?)
Don Draper is a DOG, lol, but one I like to watch (and listen to)!
That makes sense about Don and his step mom, but wasn't the step mom saying that she wanted a baby and couldn't have one? If memory serves me correctly, step mom did have a baby. It was Don's half-brother. Remember he saw Don on the bus when he came to deliver the body and Don ran off without speaking. Many years later, his brother found Don in NY then committed suicide.

Yeah the stop mom DID have that baby, but Don was always called "that hoor's baby". I'm not sure how it came to be though, unless the father had a relationship with said hoor.
3 Episodes in and I went to AMC site to read, but the posters there chit chat so much that it's difficult to get to the nitty gritty discussion of an episode. A lot of hypothecizing about story lines and extraneous discussion, but many of the maddicts are very astute. I haven't been so caught up in character development since the Sopranos. ( Furio.)

I haven't watched last night's episode yet, am going to when I get home.
I used to love Roger Sterling but he has gotten on my bad side with his marrying Jane. lol
I wonder if anything will ever develop between Peggy and Peter?
One thing about last week's epi was the Patio cola that Pepsi made. I had totally forgotten that, it was the pepsi answer to coke's Tab I think. lol
Did y'all notice that Roger's daughter's wedding date is the day JFK is killed?
Mandy'smom you are very perceptive! I think you will enjoy last night's episode. It is like an onion in that it has many layers. I'm still thinking about it. Please post your thoughts after you watch.
Keep an idea on how they handle the pregnant women vs. those that aren't. Specially look at Judy, (Pete's wife), Joan and Peggy. I have a lot of questions about it.

Just wanted to revive this thread for something I saw the other day.
A rerun of Medium was on and Peggy was a main character...long blonde streaked hair, sweet as a child, but a murderer when she grew up. She must be a good actor, because she was the antithesis of Peggy on Mad Men.

I love Medium as well as Mad Men!! I must have missed the episode with Peggy though. Thanks for tip. Can you give a little more detail. Perhaps I saw it and just didn't realize it was Peggy. I thought I had seen every episode.
What did you think of last week's episode of MM? I was sorry to see Gene, Don Draper's father-in-lawl die. He had grown close to his granddaughter, Sally. The poor girl needs some love and guidance. Her dad is hardly around and her mother has just turned into a very cruel person. They both are very mean to their son. I'm worried this pregnancy may not end well.
I'm excited Peggy is moving to Manhatten! I see lots of trouble ahead for her and her roomie though. LOL.
I missed the last episode so didn't know Gene had died. Need to catch a re-run to get up to speed. Do you think Betty might lose the baby? Someone speculated that Jackie lost Patrick in August of '63 so it could be a possible parallel story line.
Roux, I hadn't thought about that. Someone has posted that the JFK assassination is coming up the day of or the day before Dick's daughter's wedding. That's not good.
If you remember that the week before this last episode the baby was not moving. Remember when the man at the party asked her if he could touch her belly. She said it's not moving. I don't know, perhaps I am reading too much into it. MM seems to pack so much into little things. I may over analyze as a result.

I had forgotten about that scene. Sometimes I feel so obtuse, and wonder if it's either a case of reading too much into it or simply my being :tongueside: Case in point: do you remember when they were at the May Day event at Sally's school and there was a closeup of Don's hand touching the grass? Was that supposed to signify something like grass-is-greener, or did it have no meaning at all and I was the only one who noticed it.

I noticed it Roux, and I thought it meant that Don for that moment connected with the world around him - the real world, not the advertising/perfect family/fake identity world. But who knows?

My mom is in her mid-seventies and loves this show. She tells me..........."they're always making love........."
Mad Men's website on AMC is reporting that Don (Jon Hamm) and Peggy from the show are scheduled to appear on Oprah Sept. 21 as part of her "going back in time series." Supposedly Oprah loves the show.
I hope this is true. I intend to watch. I just love that Jon Hamm!!!! I think it interesting that Jon (Don Drapper) gets much of the same reaction from women in real life as he does from female characters on the series. Did you see his daughter's school teacher falling all over him last week? And the airline attendant a couple of weeks ago?
A few weeks ago he was on one of the morning news shows and they were talking about how all the women were coming out of the woodwork to see him. You could tell he was embarrassed with all the gushing over him. Same thing happened when he went on Regis. Women were swooning (sp. don't normally use that word) over this guy.
I'm not sure how all that adoration would make me feel. I bet Oprah's audience goes ape if he is actually there in her studio. Can't wait.
Thanks for the info. I don't watch Oprah but will definitely tune in to see Jon Don.
We were wrong about the baby, huh. I hope they don't get too carried away with dream episodes.
Yeah, those writers like to tease and perhaps mislead you on that show. Remember when they had a scene of when Don's wife's car broke down? This guy pulled up to help her and it looked like a rape or murder was getting ready to happen...then nothing happened....that we know of.
I thought last week's episode of The Fog was great. I foresee trouble with Don and Sally's teacher.....also, problems for the agency. Too many dumb higher ups IMO. Interesting to see Duck again.
I hope to get some nice behind the scenes scoop on Oprah.

OK, here's a story. While I was in college, a guy showed up at the door one night to see one of my roommates. I had my hair pulled up in a pony tail, and just standing there talking with him at the door, I found myself letting my (long)hair down. I was mesmerized. Later I found out that he was Clint Longley, who originally went to college where i did, but was playing for the Cowboys at the time.
Long story short, without me telling this :blushing: moment to anyone, i heard 2 other girls tell the SAME story at different times....the talking, the taking their hair down....
Some MEN got that somethin'...like Don has.

You are so right. LOL. You can't learn sex appeal, IMO.
Jon Hamm reminds me of the actor who used to be the male lead in the old series Thirty Something. I can't recall his name right now. He is now on Brothers and Sisters and is married in real life to one of the other actors on that show. They were both also on Thirty Something and were married then too. I always found him sexy and so attractive.
Jon Hamm's personality is very different in person than his character. In most of the interviews, he was quite humble and even seemed unsure of himself. He did not come off as confident in those interviews IMO. It was a little odd. I hope to see more of him on Oprah next week.

That was Ken Olin. I really liked a show he had post Thirty Something. Can't remember the name; it didn't last very long but IMO it was really good. Looked it up - EZ Streets. Great show that didn't last long enough

I noticed it, thought it had to do with "oh to be young again" (kids running around, loving the looks of the young teacher who seems to adore him, etc.) I guess my vote was more toward the grass-is-greener.
Just saw Jon Hamm on the red carpet at the Emmy's....quite chatty and open, and of course stunning looking as was his wife.

Mad Men won an Emmy for best drama, again! There was some real stiff competition too.
He did look so fine! I didn't know he got married though. He was dating this actress, I can't call her name now. I'll try to locate.
I hate I missed any pre-show interviews so I didn't see him talking, however MM was great last night. Anyone see it?
I just read that Jon is still dating longtime girlfriend Jennifer Westfeltd. (She's a very good actress IMO) He says she is more than a girlfriend but would only get married if he decided to have children. This is according to Wikipedia. I googled but couldn't locate any news of any recent marriage.
All the nominees in the category are excellent, but I'm happy Mad Men won and hope that the exposure will draw more people to it.
Lots happened on last night's episode. Heartening to see Don more loving and attentive to Sally.

I loved Roger's quip about Guy possibly losing his foot. "Just when he got it in the door". lol
What the heck is going on with the teacher? I even rewound the scene to see if Don was saying something I wasn't catching. Seemed to me he was just making conversation and she's just coming onto him or she's nuts, one of the two. lol
This might mean nothing, but the signing of the contract seemed odd. Cooper really was threatening Don with his knowledge of who he really is.
The date was July 23rd but I don't know if any significance to that or not. Roger's daughter's wedding is scheduled for the day of JFK's assassination.
:scared:
ETA: I just looked it up and it was the day the Beatles released "She Loves You". I was thinking that a lot of things are going to change after that.
The British Invasion changed music, fashion, thinking. No longer are the days of the Beach Boys and Four Seasons.
Maybe the advertising world is going to be turned upside down as well, with Don being locked into a contract and losing the freedom he so dearly cherishes.
Hey Mandysmom,
Last week was a great episode! Lots of stuff going on. Can you believe Peggy???OMG She and Duck are quite a pair. LOL.
Why is Don so angry at Roger? I know about all the petty stuff such as Roger hitting on Betty that time when he was over for dinner and Roger gossiping to his girlfriend about Don's temp. separation, but still. He has been furious at him lately. I wonder what that is all about. Perhaps a secret not revealed yet.

I was  at Peggy sleeping with Duck.
Maybe the final straw for Don regarding Roger was Roger calling Betty behind his back to get her to influence Don on the contract. I did like that Betty was loyal to Don and didn't reveal to Roger that she really didn't know what was going on.
What's with that school teacher? I think she may be a nut case and trouble. Don should keep her at arm's length.
Roux,
You are right about the teacher. I read on another board about concern that she was really crazy.(Tvguide has a very lively one. It's very crowded so I rarely post) I didn't pick her crazy streak up immediately, but can see it now. I smell trouble for Don and her down the road. It's real shame too...her being Sally's teacher and all. Seems Don will stoop as low as possible. LOL. Just kidding.
I love Don, although he was a jerk in last week's episode. Where is Don's appreciation. Remember when he called Peggy in the middle of the night to pick him and his girlfriend up when their car broke down or they had a wreck or something. He was with his married girlfriend.

I was thinking about that car accident/incident in connection with his dangerous behavior episode this week -- driving drunk, picking up those kids. I had forgotten that Peggy helped him out of that jam. He was brutal to her but she kept her cool. It's hard for me to get a handle on Peggy and her motives.
I've gone to the AMC site but found it hard to follow. Will check out the TV Guide. We can't seem to get many interested here. In contrast to Jon & Kate.

Yeah, Peggy seems to really go with the flow if you know what I mean. LOL Will she become Duck's lover? Is he married? I forgot. Wasn't he divorced with 2 kids who came to visit him at work once. His wife had left him because of his drinking. He ticked me off when he let his beloved dog out on the streets of NY to fend for itself. Looks like he's back on the wagon.
AMC board is hard to manuever around. It also freezes up quite a bit. TVGuide is really good. The posters there can be rather critical I'm afraid. They haven't done it to me, but I would hate to make a mistake in anything I said there. LOL. The show is sort of like a religion to them. LOL. I still enjoy checking it out though. Those posters see way more into the show than I do.
Perhaps more will post here as the season expands.

I don't know the reason or reasons for the anger with Roger. It could be just what you said, things building up. Before though, he would just get back at Roger without really being terribly angry but now I'm thinking he's just angry for several reasons.
One is Roger deciding to sell the firm. Then his marrying Jane. I hope the true reason is made clear before long.
Remember when Roger hit on Betty that time though that Don got him back the next week or so by getting Hollis to say the elevator was out of order, forcing Roger to walk up the stairs with him.
That was after taking Roger to lunch and having him eat all of those raw oysters and then he threw up back at the office in front of the clients.
I know I'm talking a lot, lol but this stuff sometimes is just so subtle and I have to watch episodes over to see what nuances I might have missed.
Miss Farrell seems off a bit, well maybe a lot. I'm wondering what Joan is going to do, try to get another position at SC or what?
So many things going on.

Roux,
You are right about the teacher.
I was thinking the same thing. I actually had my hubby watching it, lol and I was saying that he was gonna have to call Peggy to come get him after getting beaten up.

I watched a few episodes last season and am going to try to stick with it this season. I have a few questions what is the deal with Don's wife? I seen her last year going in some back room with a guy she met in a bar that night. Are her and Don two of a kind?
Is Peggy still involved/ friends or whatever with the priest still?
Thanks

Great article! ITA.
Kennedy06,
The show builds very slowly and IMO would be very confusing unless you have watched since season 1. I guess you don't have to, but many of the major storylines are still unresolved. (Where is the baby Peggy had with Pete?) There is speculation, but we don't know for sure. I would definitely rent, purchase or watch the old shows on line. I think it would make things clearer. It's a hard show to follow and I find all the background info very important.
Betty had a one night fling with a stranger in the scene you describe above. It was not characterisic of her, however, she also had a little infatuation with a guy who rode at the stables where she frequented. He hit on her and tried to have an affair and she turned him down in a rather odd way and sat him up with a married friend, which was bizarre. I never figured out why she did that. It was really done in a mean way.
Betty used to be a sympathic character but had changed to the point of being very abusive to her children. I have almost forgotten her admirable traits. In season I she was seeing a psychiatrist and now I know why. Whether she will actually stray with the new interest is uncertain.
I thought there would be a sordid love affair with Peggy and the Priest too, but it never happened. He insisted that she ask for forgiveness for her unwed pregnancy, but she refused. I can't recall just how it ended, but it did.

My idea on Peggy is that after her experience having the baby, she wants to judge no one, and have no one judge her.(good luck with that it's still the '60s, lol).
Wow, bad weather just blew in, you gettin' it Roux? Ha, you're lucky you probably slept through it.....

Joan will be back. I love her character too. I think Betty is so pretty but for some reason she is acting whacked out. lol
Kennedy these shows are full of little "clues" for loss of a better word and they don't just tell you the story, you kind of have to read between the lines.
I sometimes go back and watch episodes again just to see if there is something else I've missed and usually, find something that connects to something else. lol
Don right now is just feeling defeated it would seem and trapped. I hope he is able to pull himself out of this mode and get back in control.
I think or I thought that Peggy's baby was being raised by her sister, but I might be wrong. Wasn't that the little blond boy at the Easter egg hunt at the church?
I thought that was when the priest told her to ask forgiveness for being an unwed mother.
I thought that Peggy's sister was raising the baby too, however, it was pointed out on another board that Peggy's sister was also pregnant and due to deliver the same time that Peggy delivered. Also, Peggy's sister made a comment to her about the state taking her child from her. So, it's uncertain. Perhaps the sister's baby died and she has Peggy's baby.
Who knows? I do hope they clear that matter up though.
I still have a lot of questions about Don's background. They show many flashbacks, but there are still some things that don't make sense. I guess they can't handle everything we want to see.

I felt so bad for Sal and I'm worried about him. Will he be in physical danger in the park, or so depressed he may harm himself?
We need to know what happens to Joan and Sal; hope Weiner doesn't leave us hanging with too many loose ends. Only a very few episodes left in the season.
The last episode made me quite angry. I was fed up with Connie. He is such a spoiled and demanding brat. I can understand Don being tired of him too. He is worse than a stalker IMO.
I was furious at Don. That I blame on the writers. I adore Don and don't want to hate the man, but the way they have betrayed him in his dealings with Peggy when she asked for a raise and the way he told Sal he would be fine after being fired, has really angered me. And to call Sal "you people." Sal hadn't even done anything wrong!!!! I could have slapped Don and I'm not an violent person.
I don't care if Don lies about most everything, including who he really is, but to be so blatenly unfair is unforgiveable. Enough is enough. I don't want to stop watching the show, but if they continue with Don down this road, I may have to walk away from the show. (I can't believe I'm saying that.)
The writers better be careful. You shouldn't offend your audience to the point that they rebel.

On a gossip show today, they said she is quoted as saying that her first boyfriend when she got to LA told her she wasn't any good at acting. Guess who that was?
from wiki:
Jones dated Ashton Kutcher from 1998–2001. She also dated singer Josh Groban from 2003–2006.[5]

What happened between Roger and Don? I watch the show every week, never missed an episode. Can't remember what happened.
Several things had happened between Don and Roger. Roger had a talk with Don one night about life after his two heart attacks and Don said something about would you live this way or do things differently, (with his marriage I believe)
Roger took it wayyyy too far, slept with Don's secretary, Jane and then divorced his wife Mona, to marry her. He told Mona that Don had given him the advice or whatever and put it all on Don.
Don is a philanderer but doesn't want to break up the family. Now he feels betrayed by Roger, then Roger votes to sell Sterling Cooper while Don is gone, another betrayal.
Last betrayal was the phone call to Betty in an attempt to get her to nag him into signing the contract.
Oh yeah, Roger also made a move on Betty once when he'd been at their house for dinner.
I love Roger, but he's a mess. lol

Have you watched any of the Behind the Scenes things Debb? Don is going through a real transition this year. He feels like he is drowning, his life is totally out of control.
I don't think he meant to be such a butt to Sal or Peggy, but with the contract signing, the stuff going on with Connie, Betty, Roger etc is getting to him and wearing him down.
I don't think he is that heartless but feels helpless right now. Hopefully, he will be able to somehow recover from this and be his own man again.
I hope so anyway.

Mandysmom, I wonder if they could be setting up the storyline for a new advertising agency. Remember when Duck was courting Pete and Peggy to come aboard his firm? This new agency could be a place that Peggy, Pete, Sal and Joan go. The show could include rivalry between them and Sterling, Cooper. That could be interesting.
And what about Don? Will Connie want to keep him on board now that he has disappointed him? Will Don's contract hold him anyway? Could he get out and join this new agency and compete against Sterling Cooper? I think it could be quite interesting. What do you think?

Ooh Debb yes I have thought of that. With the animosity between Roger and Don, the contract snafu and this mess with Connie, I think that would be a great storyline.
Betty would probably oppose it, or resent it, the question of his true identity would be front and center probably, and I bet he might even get Lane Price to come onboard.
He didn't want to go to Bombay anyway. What a great possibility!

OOOH, that would be terrific.
Then I would quit worrying about Sal (I know, I'm ridiculous, but that really bothered me). Like on Entourage when Ari told his assistant Lloyd to "do what's necessary" and Lloyd also said that guy was a bully.
Also not sure where Peggy's head is at these days with the choices she's making.
Seems like everyone is making bad choices that could really stir the whole show up.

Hi julie, it is '63 and we had speculated a while back that perhaps Betty would lose the baby, which would correlate with Jackie Kennedy's losing Patrick.
Speaking of Jackie O, I noticed Peggy has her hair bouffant now. When they mentioned the Aqua Net campaign I had to LOL. I used cans and cans of that stuff to keep my teasing in place!
Does Don seem as though he cares more for the teacher than he has felt for his past liasions? He appears detached, yet seems somewhat caring to her.

I might be wrong, but I'm thinking the season finale will be ending with the wedding of Roger's daughter and the Kennedy assassination.
They are on the same day. :crying:
Roux, I agree that the affection Don is showing his new love interest is greater than the last one, however, he also seemed quite smitten with the one he had when the show first premiered. She was a business woman, very independent minded and acted more like an equal than most women do on that show. She ended up moving away. He was upset with losing her, but not heartbroken.
The posts I have been reading at TVGuide indicate that many suspect that Don's new lover may be a ticking time bomb and more dangerous than he expects. They suspect a fatal attraction in the works. LOL. Let's just hope they don't let the kids get a rabbit anytime soon. LOL.
Also, does anyone think Duck's agency is going to purchase Sterling, Cooper? That could be a way to bring everyone back together again. Sal, Joan, etc. Oh, where was Pete Sunday night? I don't recall seeing him at all.
OH! Peggy, Elizabeth Moss in real life, is going to be on The View Friday along with her boyfriend/husband? which. He plays the part of Joy Behar in the SNL skit of The View. That should be wild!!!

I agree about the "ticking time bomb." I almost held my breath in the last episode, feeling something was going to go wrong. I kept thinking the brother and new lover might end up blackmailing Don or something. Just get a bad feeling about the whole thing.

I just now watched last episode, I had it on my dvr so was late getting to it.
I am just like :w00t:. I wonder if Don is going to purchase or try to purchase Sterling Cooper or buy out his contract?
If Duck's agency gets it, that would be okay too, get the gang back together.
I would hope that Don could somehow finagle his freedom again because I think that is one reason that he allowed the firing of Sal.
I don't think he would have stood for that if he hadn't been stuck in the contract and would have bucked Roger's firing.
Betty is going to be loaded for bear it looks like. Especially since she knows danged well he ain't going to see Connie and staying all night. She's not a fool.
I loved the way Peggy handled the thing with Paul, although I thought at first maybe she had gotten his idea but then he didn't write it down, or did he? lol

I'm not so sure about the ticking time bomb angle. It seems too obvious for a show that never takes the obvious route with its story or characters.
Whichever way it goes, however, I have to say that I find it pretty unconvincing. Maybe it's the actress - who doesn't have the impact the others do; but I just don't buy Don being soooooo smitten with this woman - to me she just seems kind of uninteresting and needy. jmo
ps - I want Sal and Joan back!

You have a good point. They do often give one impression and then take off in a different direction. It's hard to say what will happen. When it comes to men, mistresses and affairs, who knows. Lots of times it just doesn't make sense. Look at John Edwards and the Hunter woman. Did you read about her? She was not known for her intellectual ability if you know what I mean. It was difficult for me to see a supposedly smart man so intrigued with someone like her, but it happened. Go figure. LOL.
Perhaps Elizabeth Moss will shed some light on the last few episodes Friday on The View. They better not write her out! I'm getting tired of some of the best characters being written out.

saw her, she seems cute and sweet. and she and Fred Armisen (sp?) from SNL got married on Sunday.
Yes, she was very nice. She explained how she met her husband. Jon Hamm was hosting SNL and called her to play herself in a MM skit. (Her husband plays on that show)
Did you see the program Sunday night? Man it was great! Only 2 more episodes left. I can't believe it. They really do need more episodes.

Last episode was great! I never thought Betty had it in her to confront him, but boy did she light into him.
The schoolteacher scares me. Is she going to turn out like Annabella Sciorra's character Gloria on the Sopranos, or just continue to be sweet girl carrying a torch for Don?
What's going to happen to Joan? Where's Sal? ITA Debb - we need more episodes!
Roux, I am kind of seeing the teacher holding on and waiting it out for Don. He will eventually want to cheat again and she is convenient. I think Don leaving her in the car was horrible. No matter what he had going on, he could have come up with some way to have gone to the car to alert her or make sure she had left on her own. Although Jon Hamm did a great job with the tear scene, I still suspect sociopathy plays a big role in Don's character, therefore, he never will really learn from experience.
I can also see the teacher killing herself or going into a mental hospital. This would add to Don's guilt and perhaps straighten him out again for a little while.
I'm not sure if it would be as interesting to watch Don play the field as a single man as it is his sneaking around. Betty's little affairs are also interesting. I think keeping them together benefits for the storyline.

In times of crisis, people tend to run to those most important to them.
Pete ran to Trudy.
Roger called Joan.
Duck called Peggy.
Betty ran to Henry.
Don ran home to Betty...a little too late.
Although it was the last for the season, I was happy with last night's episode. I actually felt involved (guess it brought back personal memories of work) and excited with their coup.
Except for Sal, which we know it's only a matter of time before they need him, the professional side of Don didn't leave me hanging.
For the personal side, IDK. Don really loves Betty but it's too late  I can't get excited about Betty's love interest; wish that role had been cast with a sexier, more charismatic actor.

Woo, good season ending episode. Glad to see Joan's back in the fold. I wonder if Don and Betty divorce, will we still see Betty in future episodes?
Great finale. I thought it was very exciting. I can't wait until the next season!
I do worry about the Draper kids. Betty is soooo cold. Hope Henry will give them some affection.
I worry about the legal issues. Will Betty's Nevada divorce hold up? I think I would have gotten a second legal opinion. I have reason to be suspect of it.
Also, didn't the guys violate some laws in their skeme? Even if they quit or got fired, their do-not-compete clauses would bar them from competing in that marked or geographical area for a designated period of time. Who knows. I hope it all was kosher and the new firm really takes off.

I do not like that guy Betty has latched on to. He is a domineering control freak. She was not making any decisions for herself. I think he just wants arm candy with class for his political career.
Betty and Don had some serious problems, but Betty is just jumping into the frying pan.
Emerald, most of the posters are saying the same thing about Betty making a mistake with Henry. They are suspect of Henry and think he is going to be bad for her. Because the show has a tendency to surprise the viewer, I wonder if we may be surprised over Henry. He could end up being just fine and Betty turn out to be the bully. Who knows.
I'm curious about whether those who were cut out in the finale will be cut out permanently. Is Betty completely out? Will she move to Albany with Henry and the kids to only be mentioned at holidays and phone calls? Will Sal return? What will happen with Joan's husband? So many questions and we must wait until August of next year!!!!!!! It's just not fair! LOL

Great synopsis  Loved Joan (I, as did Roux) felt memories of battles won watching that. Don't know if Sal will be back, but I figure the more times we reference Sal in any post, someone might notice that we want him back.

Yes, she left those children with a nanny and only a few weeks before Christmas. She is seriously disturbed.
I was so thrilled that the date for last week's episode according to Don was Friday, December 13, 1963. That is my brother's birthday. Since that day my mother has talked about how worried she was to give birth on Friday the 13th. No problems though. All went well and my brother has a wonderful and successsful life. LoL.

I loved the finale and was gleeful at Joan's take-charge return and Peggy refusing to get coffee for Roger - that made me laugh.
I really want Sal back, but it may hinge on Roger. That "big" account he's taking with him to the new company - does anyone know if it's the same account that got Sal fired?
IDK about Betty's future and can't say I care much, but I do feel sorry for those poor kids.

IIRC it was the tobacco company, Lucky Strike. I wondered if the reason the sorry son that caused Sal to get fired had a southern accent was a Winston-Salem connection. Winston-Salem , NC corporate headquarters of tobacco company. Maybe that was obvious to other fans.
Speaking of Roger, in a weird way I like him. He's infuriating in many situations and has dreadful behavior at times, but something about him makes me want to keep watching. As I mentioned previously, I'd like to see an actor more like John Slattery playing Betty's love interest.
Roux, I should have caught that about Lucky Strike. I am from NC. It has been number 1 in tobacco for a long time. I guess that means Sal will not be coming back. I bet those actors that got dumped this season are miserable. Can you imagine being cut from the best drama show on tv?
I love those Rogerisms. Did you catch what he said about his wife Sunday night. He was on the phone with her and he told her to stop obsessing about Oswald. After he hung up he said, "That's the most she has ever been interested in a book depository." The girl is not very cerebral. LOL.

Oh, that's right, you said Michael C. Hall was from your neck of the woods!
I thought Roger was a little too harsh on Jane when she bought the expensive earrings for his daughter. My interpretation was that Jane was simply trying to better her relationship with the spoiled brat, but I did feel sorry for her about the wedding reception.
No doubt it's Matthew Weiner's decision, but I wish music was used more in the series. I was in high school in the 60's and we had such good songs. The Sopranos had good music too (I bought a couple of compilation CD's - my fave R. L. Burnside "It's Bad You Know") although it wasn't era specific. Just a great soundtrack.

Hey I'm glad you guys have a thread on this.
You can watch all the other episodes on the internet, just google "watch mad men online". The new episodes come out on Sunday.
I really notice the change in the makeup, especially on Betty. She looks younger and much prettier now than she did when the series began, with all that really harsh makeup and firehouse red lips.
The only thing that bugs me some is how young some of the actors look, like what-his-name the one who is always in competition with Draper. He and his wife look about 13.
I wonder how and when the baby of that guy and the secretary will come back into the storyline. That secretary is the same actress that was the daughter of the pres, Zoey, in West Wing.
