From HuffnPuff, just for my liberal friends. Can't summarily dismiss the source when I link to them. This article points out some scary stuff. What on earth is going on here? The same guy who fought to allow companies to put additives in food that many experts believe to be harmful to us is now the newest member of Obama's team.

Even the Monsanto scientists refused to drink milk after realizing the huge health risk of getting cancer or other diseases from the rbGH. Dennis Wolff was against companies putting it on the label that their product was free of the rbGH. So, even though these guys knew better than to ingest “gene-sliced” foods, they fought to get the stuff on our kitchen tables. This is evil to me. 9 years of putting this stuff on the market doubled multiple chronic illnesses in the US. For Wolff to support these companies making money at the risk of our health would make him the last person on earth who should be considered for the top food safety position at the USDA, but that is what Obama is considering. Does he know the history of some of the people he chooses, and if so, then why would he even consider people who are the last ones who should be in these positions?
IMHO

From the article:
Taylor also determined that milk from injected cows did not require any special labeling. And as a gift to his future employer Monsanto, he wrote a white paper suggesting that if companies ever had the audacity to label their products as not using rbGH, they should also include a disclaimer stating that according to the FDA, there is no difference between milk from treated and untreated cows.
Taylor's disclaimer was also a lie. Monsanto's own studies and FDA scientists officially acknowledged differences in the drugged milk. No matter. Monsanto used Taylor's white paper as the basis to successfully sue dairies that labeled their products as rbGH-free.
Where is the "eyes popping out of my head in shock and disbelief" icon? Not as much for the fact that this man was chose but for the fact that not many seem too concerned about this appointment?

Maybe I should rethink getting firewood for this winter?
Seriously, these czars are going to change this country into one that I don't think I will even recognize.

What? That is the most ridiculous statement! I could gobble up bandwidth by going into a long explanation of why that is completely wrong, but have learned it does little good to talk about the values many Republicans hold for people and nature since some prefer to hold onto their beliefs, no matter how wrong. Instead, I will simply follow the lead of many on the left and request a link for this, other than a LW blogger. :tonguewag:

And one that will barely function. They are bringing a whole new concept of paying three or more times the value for every item. Wait, that has always been the government way.

I’m shocked, this is our food supply, and this man is just set in there without a question in the world. This is scary IMO. It reminds me of school yard follow-the- leader. No questions asked. Scary!
