Poor misunderstood boys, they did nothing wrong... only had a few minor violations of the law and the media picked on them relentlessly... whatever.. they are losers... IMO

I can't believe they actually got a settlement from the city.. it's disgusting.. a young man and a beautiful tiger lost their lives because of these losers. I heard this on the news this morning and just started cracking up... they deserve to share a lovely cell with Bubba... IMO. But being CA is in the straits it is financially this idiot will more than likely get parole once again...

The San Jose Mercury News reports 24-year-old Kulbir Dhaliwal was taken into custody Wednesday after San Jose State University police stopped a car going the wrong way on a one way street, at 2:20 AM.

The driver was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, and Dhaliwal, a passenger, was arrested for felony possession of three grams of cocaine and being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Last year, Dhaliwal pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and public drunkenness.

Dhaliwal and his brother Paul were injured, and their teenage friend was killed on Christmas Day 2007, when a tiger escaped its pen and attacked them.

If I recall correctly.. the other brother is doing time in one of our local Behind Bars Hotels...lol... maybe they can be roomies..

To bad the city can't get a refund and just throw them back to the tigers.

With this kind of brain power at work, the brothers will send themselves to meet their maker sooner then the State of CA would if they had gotten the DP.

The biggest danger to a coke head is having enough money that you never have to stop. They'll end up on a slab in the ME's office soon enough.

Horrible thing to say...but rather either of them than Carlos or Tatiana...

I still say... the blame all lays at their feet for the loss of Carlos and the beautiful Tatiana..

Disgusting.. that's all I can say... they will meet their own... hope it's sooner than later.

I probably should just scroll on by... However, my last post before I was banned was on the thread about their financial settlement with the city of SF. My post predicted just this sort of behavior involving drugs... Those poor kids!! My heart bleeds.

Kulbir Dhaliwal, 25, was booked into the Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of possessing about 3 grams of cocaine and being under the influence after the car was pulled over about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, university police Sgt. John Laws said.

The driver of the car, Tarlok Dhaliwal, 26, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Laws said. The two appear to be brothers. A third person in the car was not arrested.

Kulbir Dhaliwal recently split with his younger brother Amritpal "Paul" Dhaliwal what remained of a $900,000 settlement the zoo paid them in connection with the attack. At least $75,000 was applied to medical liens, and their attorney took a cut, typically about one-third.

Kulbir Dhaliwal, who police records show had to be put in restraints when arrested in a September 2007 drunken scuffle with police, had to be held down in this most recent incident for authorities to take a blood sample, Laws said.

Go figure...

Probably screaming all the while that LE is picking on him, only because of who he is. He's had a bad rap, you know, from all the media publicity since that naughty tiger attacked him and the others, unprovoked, of course barfI just have to shake my head (or get ulcers or worse) when folks who break the law swear they are being singled out because of who they are. I guess people who make the news in a negative way should expect to never be taken to task for breaking any other laws.

I think that, when the folks who run the great state of California look @ who to let out of the pokey, and who to take the time and money to put into the pokey, that they would look @ others who have less of a history of lawlessness, and put away the ones who are only going to keep on being losers.

Was thinking about this last night... they got a 900K settlement... and the attorney of course gets a third of that..so that's like 300K if I'm correct... so that means each of those punks got 300K.. wonder how much will go up their noses... and attorney fees...:tonguewag: to get out of this latest debacle he has himself in..

One other thought... Wonder what Carlos's parent's are thinking.. :crying: If only their son had not been involved with these worthless beings, he might still be alive, he would of been home for Christmas with his family and never gone to the zoo... and Tatiana would still be alive..

I'm so infuriated that those two were paid off.. it's just disgusting IMO.

Love the comments on the SFGate article... shows the feelings of the area...

I only read 4 pages of comments. One poster blame the people who placed the tiger in captivity, another blames the liberals. Everyone else pretty much realizes that the D brothers are responsible for their actions. Would love to have been able to read the comments that were removed.

Too bad poor Tatiana didn't finish those 2 losers off when she had the chance. The streets might have been safer now without them.

Now tell me these guys are so innocent and did nothing to aggravate Tatiana in her own environment.. why can't they just lock these two up...:cursing:

The brothers recently split what remained of a $900,000 settlement the zoo paid them in connection with the attack. Their arrests come two weeks after the older sibling, Kulbir Dhaliwal, 25, was booked on suspicion of felony cocaine possession after being stopped near San Jose State University.

The latest incident happened Wednesday when a San Mateo police officer stopped Dhaliwal for driving on a shoulder on-ramp to Highway 101 near Peninsula Avenue, said Steve Wagstaffe, San Mateo County's chief deputy district attorney. Dhaliwal's passenger was his brother, Amritpal "Paul" Dhaliwal, 21.

The officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the car and saw an open bottle of Grey Goose vodka inside, Wagstaffe said.

Kulbir Dhaliwal failed a series of field-sobriety tests and had a blood-alcohol level of .10 percent, authorities said. The level that constitutes drunken driving is 0.08 percent. When the officer asked Amritpal Dhaliwal for his identification, he lied and said he was Tarlok Dhaliwal, his 26-year-old brother who had also been arrested in the incident near San Jose State, authorities said.

Kulbir Dhaliwal, meanwhile, "joined in the lie" and also said his passenger was Tarlok Dhaliwal, Wagstaffe said.

Police eventually obtained the proper identification and learned that Amritpal Dhaliwal was on parole and was trying to hide his identity, Wagstaffe said.

Love the local comments...

Thought Paul was sentenced last year to 16 mos.. he must of obviously got out early.. going to have to research that.. hopefully he goes back due to his parole violation.. what a couple of nice boys...

Whenever I read about them I always wonder what Carlos's parents think... how their son would more than likely still be with them if he had not gotten involved with these two...

Wonder if this creep Paul will get his parole revoked and go back in the slammer... never should of let him out in the first place IMO.

Hopefully when his brother goes to court.. for BOTH of this recent violations.. he will get tossed in too.. he can share a cell with his brother..

All that money they got from their settlement will be eaten up in attorney fees.. sure can't claim they don't have any $$$ for their legal defense can they...:cursing:

Check back later.. the little weasel appears in court this afternoon at 1:30 PST... it's 1:05 now.. and get this.. he has a public defender.. what's up with that? Maybe because that was his atty prior to his settlement ...

Amritpal Dhaliwal is expected to make an appearance with an attorney from the private defender program and enter a plea at 1:30 p.m. today in Redwood City.

I'm not surprised about this at all. I was sick at heart that these two got any money from the attack, but this is par for the course.

Why do these two keep getting let out.. he violates parole.. and he's out after 7 days... and his brother gets out on his promise to appear....:puke:

Amritpal Dhaliwal was arrested for giving a fake name to the officer, and this afternoon appeared in court dressed in an orange jail suit and with an attorney from the private defender program. After pleading no contest, he was sentenced to 10 days in jail. He has credit served for two days because he was unable to post bail due to violating his parole for a felony conviction in Santa Clara County for failing to yield to a police officer. Kulbir Dhaliwal, who was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and resisting arrest, was released on his own recognizance after promising to appear in San Mateo County Superior Court on Sept. 17 to be arraigned.

Yeah, I'd be trusting him to appear on his own...NOT!!!!!

So, Amritpal gets to have credit for days because he wasn't able to post bail? What??? He shouldn't get credit for anything, with his history.

*snip*...

ineteresting to see the settlement amount. assuming the attorney's fees were around 30% and were taken out of the $900,000, leaving somewhere, perhaps, around $600,000 to be split between the 2... geesh, i remember when the attack happened. there were quite a few posters gleefully predicting the brothers would get millions. (and quite a few posters who predicted we hadn't heard the last of legal/criminal issues for them!)
