REIDSVILLE -- A man who couldn't bear to see more than three-dozen cats put down has admitted to breaking into an animal shelter and stealing the felines.

McIrvin hasn't given up trying to save the 37 cats he took. He brought $5,800 to the Reidsville Veterinary Hospital last Thursday to cover the cost of adoption fees and spaying and neutering the cats.

I hope the judge sees fit to warn Mr McIrvin he shouldn't break & enter, even for the best of reasons & send him home to his new kitties.

Bless his heart. Maybe he could give them to nursing homes so the patients could enjoy them. The assisted Living centers would enjoy them as well.

DITTO. IF the judge can truly judge..that is what s/he would do. He stole nothing of "value" as far as the shelter was concerned..he actually SAVED them monies.

The idea of the elderly, nursing homes, etc.is wonderful. Pets can be such a joy and enrich the lives of those in need, who are downtrodden, and in places like that. Dogs are GREAT..love them..but cats...well..have had them for decades..there is something about them that is just wonderful and they don't need those daily walks that seniors and the disabled can't do.

Good for him..I applaud him, actually!
