Both of you are wrong.
There is no rule that states the thread title MUST be the title of the article in the OP.
The linked article directly quotes the finding of the prison banning Obama's book, which is in the title of this thread:
to wit:
"MCLEAN, Virginia - The federal government's most secure prison has determined that two books written by President Barack Obama contain material "potentially detrimental to national security" and rejected an inmate's request to read them.
"
and this decision by the prison came from guidelines from the FBI

 What a surprise - another thread created by someone who appears not to have read the article to which they linked.
From the article, it would seem the 'question' is not the content of the Obama books. The question of the day therein is: what were those prison officials thinking?
Weren't they just following FBI advice?

We never said you broke a law, hey, it's a free country, you have freedom of speech, (even if it's not truthful speech), but evidently Obama's books don't have it in prisons run by your heroes who want to censor books written by a Presidential candidate. Sort of like you wanting to censor and edit the title of the article you linked to.
Never accused you of breaking a law, but as to your ethics in misquoting and misrepresenting facts, well, I think you know how we all feel about that, and perhaps you can work on that credibility thing. Just a suggestion.
That is a lie, I didn't misquote or misrepresent anything.
And I'll pass on your "suggestion" and bait.

 From what depth of irrelevance did you formulate that question? Read the OP's article. tia
The article indicated to me it was guidelines of the FBI. imo
From OP.
But prison officials, citing guidance from the FBI

Please note that there is a distinction between "guidelines" and "guidance."
Two books available to readers everywhere, except that prison, is an example of needless censorship.
What was the guidance?

Saw this earlier. Not surprised.
Isn't it funny how some people wail and gnash over the cesorship and rights for criminals, yet, wouldn't think twice about a decision to ban a bible from a student at a public school.
IMO
Amazing.
What kills me is his lawyer's statement:
The rejection is just one indication of the harsh conditions imposed on inmates at the supermax prison, according to Abu Ali's lawyer, Joshua Dratel.
OMG the man is in prison not on a vacation. PRISON for crimes. Soon prisoners will have every little thing they ask for it's not enough they have computer access, television, etc. He was denied a book(s) not a meal fer crying out loud.

 Perhaps you should direct that comment to the prison officials.
Did it hurt the man to be denied the books?
IaNsSyAlNuE

 The man asked for a couple of books. Isn't reading a good thing?
Are you telling me he was denied all books? Or just the ones stated in the article?

BO should be thanking the prison officials. This probably increased the book sales because all the terrorists NOT in prison are furiously scanning their newly purchased copies looking for all these national security secrets.

 censorship by any other name .......
Do you believe that prisoners should have whatever they desire? Or things taken away and rights such as what they can read?

Well, cry me a river that someone like this thinks his rights are being violated.
But they really should allow the books. They would probably act as a tranquilizer and put the prisoners to sleep.

I think it's a little odd that Virginia Department of Corrections does not have a listing for anyone named Ahmed Omar Abu Ali.

You did better than I did. I used the name as listed in the article and got nowhere, and you got a release date by using a partial.
Bait & switch of a non issue for a slow news day, maybe?

Wonder why he doesn't show up on the registry. Something seems odd about that to me.
If he did everything your article states, he should be UNDER the prison, not complaining about reading materials.

True. I have been known to read books just because the church said they were "bad" (His Dark Materials, for one), and found them quite enjoyable. I wonder if that means I will go to H3LL.
But in this case, I do not agree that inmates should be granted their every whim. They are not at Club Med (or Club Fed, for that matter) they are in prison and do not have the same freedoms as people not incarcerated.
If they were denying him food or adequate housing, that would be one thing, but books? I don't see a problem with the prison system saying "NO".

we are not talking about granting prisoners their ever whim, prisoners who earned certain rights were allowed to order books, somehow these two books got on the banned list, just like if the bible was on that banned list, people would want to know why

From the article:
Supermax inmates, including convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui and "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski, are housed under the most severe restrictions in the federal prison system. Inmates typically are kept in their cells in solitary confinement 22 or 23 hours a day.
It looks like this is where they send all of the really bad boys. Again, they are in prison (on a "SUPERMAX" unit or is the whole prison "SUPERMAX"?) not in day camp.
The article also says the prison restricted his family visits, so just on a guess, having worked in a prison system before, but I would guess there is more to this story than the books.
And maybe since there are so many terrorists in this prison, they restrict a lot of reading materials, not just these two books.
It would be interesting to find out all the facts.

It doesn't give much information on what is allowed inside the ADMAX.

Like I said, it will be interesting to find out the whole truth.
