Cloyce Heddins' wife owns the kennel. He tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the dogs are cared for and says authorities had bad information, possibly from disgruntled customers.

Good old Cloyce has kept his hands clean on this deal with his wife being the owner. I'd like to take them both, put them in a cage and give them some dirty water and a few scraps of food for a few years. See how well they feel cared for. :cursing:

Here is the website for the HSNT - Humane Society of North Texas. This is the organization that has taken on the responsibility of caring for these unfortunate animals.

http://www.hsnt.org/donate.php

Please note that is organization receives NO county, state or federal funds. They are not subsidized by another entity. There is information at that link on how to make a contribution. I hope all will consider helping them out - I see they are able to take credit or debit card donations via PayPal. They also participate in the Charity Motors Car Donation Program. There is also an option to donate by mail.

Accepting this sort of responsibility puts a huge burden on the organization & it can't all be taken care of through the physical help of volunteers - there are gigantic expenses for vet care, medications, food, water & keeping the facility clean.

We have lots of good folks here. Think what a difference we could make to them if we each donated as little as $5.00 apiece!

I saw this on our local news last night. I honest to God thought I was going throw up.....then I cried.

One thing I noticed was that Chesapeake donated their warehouse to house all of these poor dogs. There are many in Texas that dont have much nice to say about Chesapeake....I must say, I so appreciate them stepping up and doing this.

The grapevine is abuzz about the "authorities" not doing something quicker about this deplorable situation.

Every single last person should have to pay dearly for doing this.

Thanks God the public stayed on top of it.

These people disgust me. For the life of me, I cannot understand how people can treat animals like this. It really makes me sick and breaks my heart for these innocents. My dog is my baby, and I would protect him with my whole being. That people think they have the right to mistreat and abuse these creatures...I just don't understand. I do not know what charges they will face or what the sentence will be, but I am sure in my book it will not be harsh enough, not even close. I pray they can place the rest of these guys in wonderful loving forever homes.

Yes, it makes me sick. A heck of a lot of dogs that have suffered at that "concentration camp." Hopefully they can regain their health and find good homes.

Here's a feel good video that I've posted before. This is the way to treat animals:

FORT WORTH — The Humane Society of North Texas was overloaded Wednesday with calls from people interested in adopting dogs from among the nearly 500 seized at a Montague County breeding ranch, an agency official said.

"Our phone system was jammed all morning," said Sandy Grambort, a humane society supervisor.

The dogs are not yet available for adoption, she said. A July 17 court hearing before a justice of the peace will determine whether the dogs are forfeited to the humane society.

If they are, the shelter will organize "a monumental volunteer effort" to handle an adoption event for so many animals, Grambort said.

"Interest is really high," she said. "I’m sure people are having trouble getting through to us."

Because of the influx, Grambort suggested that people go to the agency’s Web site, download an adoption application and fax or mail it in. Applicants should mark the forms "Montague County" if they are interested in animals from the seizure.

About 25 breeds were seized, including basset hounds, Boston terriers, Maltese, dachshunds and Lhasa apsos, officials said.
