Who do you think goes into drug rehab if it isn't drug addicts?
MJ had to cancel the end of his Dangerous World Tour to go into drug rehab for several months... He was addicted to painkillers, Valium, Ativan and Xanax.... Painkillers are not intended to be prescribed for sleep disorders... Valium is used in the management of anxiety disorders. Xanax is used to treat moderate to severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and is used as an adjunctive treatment for anxiety associated with moderate depression. Ativan may be prescribed for short term treatment of insomnia particularly in the presence of severe anxiety. Ativan is also used for acute seizures...
Ativan if used to keep my daughter asleep for 3-4 days at a time, but it doesn't come easily. We usually have to fight with the er doctors to give the appropriate treatment.
Huh. Well guess my old memory is not as good as it used to be. I thought she offered some kind of support.
she did. At the very least they were keeping in touch by phone.
As far as the last few years he wasn't even in the US but people don't always see each other in person when lives get busy. Trump said he last talked to Michael a year ago, but hadn't seen him for a few years..however they kept in touch

The one photo looks like he has TWO... one in each hand.
Heart breaking.. he just looks so sad, and lost in a sense.
He is a lot younger than the other two, so he is probably
really confused right now. Poor Baby.... :(

i was trying to find the words to the song "smile" anyone know where I can look? or do you know them? I looked under song lyrics but no luck.
Smile, though your heart is aching
smile even though it's breaking
when there are clouds in the sky,
you'll get by
if your smile thru your fear and sorrow
smile and maybe tomorrow
you'll see the sun come shining thru for you
Light up your face with gladness
hide every trace of sadness
although a tear may be ever so near
that's the time you must keep on trying
smile, what's the use of crying
you'll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just smile
That's the time you must keep on trying
smile, what's the use of crying
you'll find that life is still worthwhile
if you just smile
I am so sad for those children. I hope they find a safe harbor and a chance for a happy, normal life. I wish them well.
kellabeck, after seeing the grace and dignity with which they handled this memorial i am sure they will have a happy sort of normal life. The adults around them are did a superb job and so long as a certain granddad doesn't call the shots (and i dont think he will be able to when it comes to the kids, his sons would stand up) they will be surrounded by love even from their granddad.
To be honest i expected more of a cicrcus like atmosphere, not in the negative sense but its just MJ in some ways and so many memorials go to far or for that matter not far enough. I think its great they brought the casket with MJ to staples but hid it from the media until this morning.
It was a very very special afternoon for me, for so many reasons including actually seeing how those kids are loved. Plus the rest of the tribute.
who asked if there was an award for something like a tribute? Don't know but at the least i think it should go into some sort of live documentary category for arrangement and scoring.

Jermaine told Larry King he would love for MJ to be at Neverland but said that probably wouldn't happen. I wish he were buried at Neverland. I wonder where he is right now.................
One thing I don't understand is: Michael Jackson swore he would never go back to Neverland after the trial because it was tainted by the warrant searches and the trial itself. So, why would his family think that this is where he would want to end up?

Los Angeles wants Jackson fans to donate to pay for memorial service costs
Associated Press
Updated: 07/07/2009 10:19:19 AM PDT
The city of Los Angeles has set up a Web site to allow Michael Jackson fans to help pay public costs for his Staples Center memorial service.
Mayor's office spokesman Matt Szabo says the site launched Tuesday is linked to a PayPal account where donors can help defray the expected millions of dollars in costs with tax- deductible credit-card contributions.
The Web page reads: "Help the City of Angels provide the extraordinary public safety resources required to give Michael the safe, orderly and respectful memorial he deserves."
Numerous law enforcement officers and fire department resources have been involved in Jackson family motorcades through the city and in guarding a wide perimeter around Staples Center.

I want to say that the bird's name was Merlin, and he was able to do magic things.
Yeah, that was the Brady Bunch...
Marlon (voiced by Larry Storch) was an intelligent, red talking mynah bird and also a wizard (complete with stereotypical wizard's cap) who used his magic to help the kids out of jams. Marlon was also notable for his method of flight: he spun his tailfeathers like a helicopter rotor rather than using his wings, which were instead used as hands, often for grand gestures as he cast spells.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure that the family truly considered what MJ wanted, but rather what would be the most profitable thing to do. It's not nice, but they seem like a grasping bunch (except for Janet, who makes her own money).

I think the memorial had favorite moments for everyone. One of the truly extraordinary feats they pulled off with it. For those who wanted some religion, it was there, for those who wanted to remember the young michael it was there, for those who wanted music and dance it was there, for those who wanted to remind the world that rumors and allegations do not truth make, it was there. For those who wanted to see family, it was there. For those who wanted video and pictures, it was there. For those who wanted to celebrate his life, it was there. For those who wanted to mourn his passing, it was there. For those who wanted to do both..it was there.

The truth is now coming forth now.
It has been a long time coming but it is better late than never.
Like posted above I just watched the beginning of the live stream, now the video of Paris on TMZ
Yes, Ocean, the truth will come forth step by step... Now Paris... but also even Bashir made a little step (big step for him). I firmly believe that sooner or later one of those who accused him with wrong allegations will come forward, too. Once in the future life will be unkind and cruel to them, too, and maybe then they realize how much they've hurt Michael Jackson.

Most of this is chat between posters today and I'm going to let it go as it's like being there and wanting to share feelings with friends. I WILL NOT allow any derogatory posts, either about M.J. or other posters on here. This is to be determined a Memorial Thread and therefore deserves respect. M.J. nor his family are in a position to refute any nasty or bashing posts so treat it as a member of your family being memorialized.
If you don't like him, fine, then DON'T POST HERE. I'm sure there are many boards who would welcome you, we don't, we dignify the person at a time like this and expect you too also.
I personally have never been a fan, but it's a generation thing, I love Bing Crosby and Perry Como and Tom Jones, however I would never insult anyone that could hurt his/her family in any way at a sorrowful time as this. Remember they loved him.
Thank you for understanding and your cooperation.

It's like an alcoholic claiming they're not because they only drink beer:rolleyes:
Its not exactly the same. A meth addict is breaking the law, a prescription addict isn't, as long as the doctor continues to prescribe.

Depends on when the library was established. The law was changed in 1955 and again in 1986.
The Presidential Libraries Act of 1955 provided that the National Archives and the National Park Service would maintain the libraries and grounds and would fund professional archivists to take care of and catalog all Presidential papers. These libraries are supervised by their own governing boards and library staffs. The Presidential Libraries Act of 1986 provided that George Bush and his successors would have to use private funds to operate as well as build their Presidential libraries.

And he was a president of the United States. I think when presidents want to be buried at their homes, they should be accomodated.
George Washington and Martha are right there at their home, Mount Vernon, too, side by side, buried.
But again, he was president of the United States, and Mount Vernon is now owned by the State of Virginia. I think.
At any rate, these were men who held the highest office in our country.
They deserve special privileges; they served their country in a monumental way.

Hey All!!..Whoa!! What a fabulous "Memorial"..it has taken me a few hours to catch up and see some of the UTube videos..I am so impressed with the class and dignity brought to that stage..Kudos to all who had a hand in putting this together...
I am so appreciative of all the kind, heartfelt words I have read here..as that is the way it should be!!! Sorry I have to miss this live..but reading the posts here, I was able to get the flavour and emotion of the moments..and for that TY all so much!!
I like most of you shed a few tears, as I heard the pouring out of love for this man..MJ..Michael!! I think he deserved this, as I also believe that is all he really wanted from this world..and that was to be loved..
Michael...You were loved by many..and far more than you ever realized on this earth..Fans are one thing..and family you would expext..but to have your piers revere you to such high esteme..I am sure your spirit soured today!!
I also believe the three Children will do just fine...they seem so adoring of you and what you gave them..and for them to see how you touched the world.and have your children realize it..is yet another Good Thing!!
Thanks again everyone for giving me at least the sense that I was there:wub:

It has been a special day today, with lots of surprises to. Biggest one for me was Al Sharpton coming through with a wonderful eulogy and not trying to divide.
The CEO Randy Phillips said that they had always planned to have MJ's body there ever since they agreed to use staples center because Katherine wanted it to be a memorial not just a concert, but kept it absolutely under wraps until today.

MTV and E channel are airing it all week and weekend
Are they going to be playing it continuously all weekend? I had to work today and I wanted to watch it so badly. When I got home, I did see a clip of Paris speaking and it just broke my heart. I hope those kids are okay. Say what you want about Michael Jackson, his kids obviously adored him. It's so sad.....

TY VC2, I did catch a snippet of Al S. eulogy..and have to agree he moved the people..and must give him kudos for reminding everybody that Michael's differences made it possible to change the world.. and Michael did on many, many levels...
I think the song "Smile" by Jermaine was very heartfelt and appropriate..as I do think Michael had to do that most his life!
Paris, well..she just broke my heart!!What a sweetheart!!
As to bringing Michael there..I am glad they did..as it truly made this whole thing a MEMORIAL..and not just a tribute!! I also heard a few interviewed who attended, it wasnt until they saw Michael's Casket..they truly believed he was gone..So, being there surely helped many to move on, and accept it..(closure)

someone on JVM (btw it is ALMOST amusing, but bc of paris's words and how well balanced, age appropriate etc she was MJ is no longer a wobbling addict but perhaps a functioning one) was saying how Paris truly loved her dad and tried to take care of him. He had mentioned being over at the house before and how the kids loved him but not why. It turns out that it was bc cps was there to see if he was a fit dad. Paris would refuse to allow MJ to be alone, she wanted to protect her dad.

I am not sure, if it has something to do with different states laws. They did say on HLN that because it was a two lane road that could be enough to have the county not allow a permit.
But, MJ said that NeverLand was tainted, I wouldn't think he would want to be laid to rest there.

To say that this memorial was more than I expected, and that prayers and good thoughts need to go to MJ's children.
When all is said and done, they have still lost the father that they loved very much.
If chewing gum and holding a doll made in their dads likeness, helped them make it through this very public ceremony, well then, more power to them.
Amen!

then they should offer free tours as they do the restoration work already started. No money, no zoning change needed.
SB would change their minds soon enough imo. Especially if they took my idea of 6 month tours/holiday camps for underpriveleged and ill kids and 6 months paid tours
It's farming country.
Turning that land into a Graceland would change the entire complexion and ecological balance of the whole area -- Michael wouldn't like that.

I don't think it is that complex for a 11 year old girl to tell the world that she loved her daddy and he was the best.
These children, as reported on JVM, did in the past get interviewed by CPS; I don't think they were completely in the dark about the controversy surrounding their father.
My comment wasn't on what you mentioned in your first para but about "... but it was strange what he had to deal with." I do think it's a complex message because it means to understand, for example, how the media machinery works and to comprehend the motives of some who surrounded Michael during his life.
I didn't know that she got interviewed in the past.
A friend of mine always got free tickets for theater performances; we were often seated in the front rows. Sometimes I thought I have to stand up... but I always was like: "I can't be the first who stands up... and I don't see the people behind me..., maybe they all remain seated..." -- Though I'm not shy in general you have to be self confident to do so or be used to it. Though an adult next to her stood up first Paris got up in a very confident and straight way. If it wasn't staged -- like most of you think -- I must say: WOW, girl, that was so cool and amazingly strong!!! :rose:

I wouldn't blame the media for MJ problems he put his foot in his mouth when he said he shares his bed with kids and that got the ball rolling. He would have been fine if he just invited the kids and their families to Neverland but didn't share his bed with him in it. Anyone that thinks it's ok for a guy in his 40's to spend the night with other people's kids is just crazy I don't care if he was MJ it is not normal nor ok

Taking into consideration that DR is very light with freckles and light hair with blue eyes, that would keep the children light complected. But the children seem to have a light caramel completion with brown hair and brown eyes.

I don't know that she knew every detail about the controversy but an 11 year old would certainly be aware of it. I just hope she hasn't been watching the news coverage. I do not believe at all that she was coached. That came from the heart. According to Kenny Ortega -- he said he didn't even think the children would go on stage.

Turning that land into a Graceland would change the entire complexion and ecological balance of the whole area -- Michael wouldn't like that.

No it wouldn't. It is exactly how he ran it when he lived there, he had sick and underpriveleged children tours all the time. It doesn't have to be graceland per se, just what they are doing now, restoring it to its former glory (with the consultation of MJ and he did plan to work on something with Neverland..never trust the NE as a source. THe burial at neverland idea was Jermaine's).
Just by doing it for free and not limiting it to sick and underpriveleged while its under restoration imo will get SB looking for a way to control it properly, get their tax revenue, and rezone it for that since the chaos will be outside neverland daily anyway. The way to get peace would be to do tours. It is also not that hard to widen a two lane highway enough to handle traffic. THey will probably need to in a few years anyway imo. That would be the extent of it and if neverland pays for it even better for the county

I think many of the celebrities were a little afraid that it would be an over the top circus like hoopla. I can understanding not going to that, but there were 1000 tickets for the family and i doubt every celeb was shown.
I also bet that the ones who thought it would be a big hoopla plus nightmare to get through, are regretting not going now. Maybe they thought it would me more a joe production. Or just singing michaels songs.
None of us could have expected this wonderful memorial. Couldn't have been done without the superb work of Ortega and also the family working together to have the beautiful, the music, the eulogies, the funny moments...but everything tasteful and like being in a church sort of.

The second picture on this link when you scroll is absoutely beautiful of Blanket. He has his Daddy Doll, looking at the Memorial Program, and when you scroll just a little more... omg.... how sweet... he has his white socks on with his black loafers like his Daddy.
All three of them are just precious.

I cried the whole time... I couldn't stop crying, I went into the office this afternoon with puffy eyes. Surely, my co-workers thought I was alittle strange LOL but I don't care.
Michael is the Elvis of my generation - I grew up idolizing him and his music. Regardless of the previous accusations and charges, those are long past. Now, as NG says, it's about the children. They lost their daddy, and that breaks my heart. We love you Michael, you will never be forgotten and your music will live forever.
And to the haters - it must suck to be in your dark and dreary world. You will never ever break the love and bond Michael and his fans have/had and it eats you alive. Wallow in your miserable and hateful world.

-- Michael Jackson signed his will on 7/7/02.
-- Michael Jackson's memorial was on 7/7/09 ... exactly 7 years after the will was signed.
(...)
-- Michael Jackson was the 7th of 9 children.
-- Michael Jackson was born in 1958 ... 19 + 58 = 77
-- Michael Jackson died on the 25th ... 2 + 5 = 7
-- Michael Jackson has 7 letters in his first and last name."

That is really strange coincidence imo. Actually it goes into this "unearthly" direction as it's so big coincidence imo.

Just have watched parts yet... but I didn't like that they invited John Mayer. I don't think he had known Michael, he's so self-absorbed, seems to think he's super smart, can't stop to twitter ... and I wouldn't wonder if he had done it to become known all over the world; in Europe, for example, almost "nobody" knows who John Mayer is.
He is an excellent musician, and he honored MJ by playing one of his songs, and it was beautifully done.

The Congresswoman from Texas made me feel really good when she said all of congress paused when they heard about MJ.
She's Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. Did you also hear her talk about the House resolution to name MJ an American music legend and world humanitarian?

I really liked how nice all of Michaels brothers, and two sons looked dressed alike today. The yellow ties looked great with their black suits / white shirts.
All of the ladies were dressed really classy as well.
The entire family looked awesome today, and I think the Memorial was very well done today.
I just heard on CNN no incidents were reported at all today with this memorial. I am so glad to hear all of the good news from the event.

I've been watching all day.
My thoughts are, that from 1974 to 1978, I was 10 to 14 years old.
I had every picture of MJ and Donny Osmond that I could find.
I had every 45 that either one put out.
In 1978 Disco hit (yuck).
In 1982, well that was the year of Thriller and the "unknown artist" singer Soldier of Love.
This is my childhood, this is my young adult years.
I feel that the artist MJ, is just that an artist and a wonderful performer.
I hope that everyone's prayers are for his children.

<snipped>
One of my co-workers passed today during a meeting and whispered in my ear: "You're not in LA?" - LOL
During the last two weeks I often said to people "I'm so sad about Michael Jackson's death" and then had to realise that they felt relieved that I was the first to speak it out. Many reacted very emotionally: "OMG, I'm so sad, too. I loved Michael Jackson." I didn't know that so many people liked him as much as I did.

ABC is having a special they just showed Paris again, and here comes the tears again. Paris seems really close to Janet.
(bolding mine)
I'm very happy to see that. I doubt very much she'd want to be separated from her dad's family. MOO

I'm still catching up and I just saw that with Magic! Oh, yes, listening to Paris was absolutely heartbreaking. :crying: My prayers for the children that they'll feel their dad is still with them and watching over them.
I can't remember word for word but when Brook said looking up I can see you smiling on a half moon. Well it was well said by her.

Michael said he liked Johns work, so I assume that is why he was asked to be there

I noticed too how everyone was so well dressed and totally respectful of what they were there for ~ no casual clothes, nothing inappropriate. It was very, very nice to see for a change.
