Right, it was his crew that was there.

He was trying to show it wasn't MJ although I am sure some will want to still believe it was.

Exactly!!

No double standard here. They just have to leave their big, fat SUVs at home and go by public transportation.

Living in CA.. and I know our public transportation SUCKS.. but they have been telling the people that have tickets for days even before the drawing find alternate transportation... it's going to be chaos tomorrow.. watch.. but if I had a ticket and planned on going.. I would take their advice and find alternate transportation.. there are ways if you put you mind to work...

And I don't blame her one bit for not going...

<snippet> from her twitter.. (can you believe she has twitter..)

Taylor just wrote on her Twitter: "I've been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don't believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. I said I wouldn't go to the Staples Center and I certainly don't want to become a part of it. I love him too much."

And, for the record, she also writes she's "not on suicide watch."

Seriously you should do so! Or even better than a book would be some sort of media campaign -- which shortly mentions some facts most don't know.

When I talked during the last days to others about Michael Jackson it turned out that they didn't know essential trial facts, for example:

- mixed up "20 million dollars" with the AV trial
- never ever heard about the J.C. Penney thing (parallels to the MJ trial)
- didn't know that J-AV was prosecuted after the MJ trial

That is someone's opinion so what's your point? He was wrong period. It is his personal opinion and he is entitled to it but he should have used the word "alleged". If you don't think there's something wrong with what he said - then that's sad -- doesn't matter if it was MJ either. We do have a law in this country that says "innocent until proven guilty".

Michael Jackson said right on camera in the documentary he sees nothing wrong with sleeping in bed with little boys. When he said that he had the 2nd boy who accused him sitting on a couch with him and the kid had his head on MJ's shoulder. PLEASE!! jmo

It seems to me that most people split when someone with a differeing opinion started posting.

moo

There are some big fans, and some not so big fans. Like I said, I think he was a great entertainer. I am not a fan. I liked his music. I am really more interested in finding out what happened to him, and the legal aspects of all of the new stuff. I didn't follow the trial, so I don't really have all of the facts, or an opinion one way or the other about that. I do think it is all in the delivery on here. The trial is over. It just leads to a fight, when it is discussed. I don't think he should be idolized for many reasons, not just the trial. There are many people more deserving of "hero" status. In my opinion.

ETA: I don't think he should be held up as "hero" status for any reason.

Okay, I will take the slings and arrows...

I don't hate MJ...in fact, I feel rather sorry for the life he led...because I think he was a very confused, tormented person with a great deal of talent and heart.

I also think that he was emotionally adolescents, and did things that were also emotionally adolescent, which led to a great deal of his problems in adult life.

I think that his message through music is being turned into a racial divide which IMO, is the last thing he wanted.

I think that Al Sharpton standing with Joe Jackson is just another symbol of what MJ didn't believe, as he stated often, and his Will reflected his opinion on his (in his words) abusive father.

MJ didn't belong to any race, he belonged, and fought to belong to the human race..

MJ was, IMO, sexually stunted, unable to get past a part in his life that did indeed make him identify with Peter Pan.

Do I think he as a biological adult was inappropriate with young boys...YES.

Do I think he thought as a biological adult...NO.

I have been a fan of MJ's music, and respect his attempt to bridge the gap between white and black...but I also think that it for him, came with a huge emotional price that he, could not bear.

Michael Jackson was not evil, he was not a pervert, IMO, he was a man in body and a child in spirit..and that is why he blurred the lines between what was socially accepted and what was socially taboo...and ironically it was also for that very reason, he could not understand the racial divide that thrives in our country, that is exploited by both races by people in power.

I hope he finds in death, the peace that he could not find in life, and that his children find the stability that they not only deserve, but what ever child is entitled to.

I am not sure what he was. Like Tracian said, I think he was a very troubled man. I don't know that he was a perv. or not. I do think he was very selfish in his drug use knowing that he had kids, family, even fans that were counting on him. He bailed. I am not saying that he committed suicide, but he was warned of the risks he was taking. For that reason alone, I would not want anyone to idolize him. IMO

Is that really true about the stamp? That is truly over the top...as is most of the adulation I am seeing now on message boards, on tv & thru the newspapers.

Yes, he was a great entertainer yet he reached a point in his life where his behavior became increasingly weird to the point of freakishness.

To have 24/7 hour news coverage about MJ this past weekend whilst important news events nationally & globally were relegated to back pages is unbelieveable.

In my opinion a private funeral service would have precluded the circus surrounding what is happening in California. Lottery tickets to attend a memorial with some ticket holders putting their tickets on Craig's List & Ebay & probably scalping them outside police lines. Where is the common sense in this.

Wouldn't it have made sense for the stars appearing at the memorial concert to do a tribute in the style of We Are The World on a private stage, no audience, just TV camera's sending it out to the world.

It was twenty years and a few days before the U.S. Postal Service announced that a stamp in John Wayne's memory was being released. John Wayne, the most popular male actor of all time. I hardly think that Michael Jackson ever rose to his stature. John Wayne was a REAL MAN.

Michael Jackson will create even more pandemonium in death than he did in life -- his body will take center stage at Tuesday's public memorial at the Staples Center in downtown L.A.

The family will hold a private memorial early in the morning at Forest Lawn -- where the body is now. The coffin will then be transported to Staples for what promises to be one of the biggest spectacles in L.A. history.

I am saddened by his untimely death. Don't know how or why, just still sad. His music was a part of my life, being just a few years younger. I remember "meeting" him when I was only an 8 year old baby girl. The man was an amazing talent. Even the haters cannot argue that.

Personally, wish the memorial was planned for a little later. That said....I am working from home tomorrow. I just kinda need to view the memorial. I was one of the 1.6 million who registered.

TMZ is rarely wrong. I so hope the casket won't be there, but would not be surprised. My hope is that he was laid to rest tonight. So very sad.

God, hope there were no cameras. Quite with Family, I hope.

Homer Simpson is a cartoon character. Well then again, so was Michael Jackson. Hmmm maybe you are right. Not!!

I doubt that Homer Simpson has donated some $500 million dollars to charity like M. Jackson did.

Whether opened (which I don't think is even possible) or closed, it is horrible. Get the poor man buried.

It is verging on the grotesque.

Is, but not unexpected. I would never, ever do that to a loved one. Just not respectful. Maybe there's more to the story than we know. Surely it will be explained away. Personally? Cannot wait for this part of his death to be over. Surely the story will go on and on.

I cannot believe I feel like crying again. Need sleep.

Scooby, most wealthy people donate Millions of dollars to charity. It helps with their taxes. I am sure they also feel the need to give back. MJ, is not the only wealth person to have given that much or more. Gates is a good example. And I am not sure where you are getting your figures on MJ. Do you have a link to the amount of money MJ has donated over the years. TIA

I think you can find a link on last night's thread. Do you happen to have a link to the charities Homer Simpson has donated to?

And neither did ScoobyDoo, another cartoon character. Maybe you should leave this one alone. Ya think?

I would, but that's just me.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to be downtown today it's going to be a mess thats for sure. On a normal day where the staple center is located it's bumper to bumper starting around 5:30 A.M. I see road rage coming big time. Why they picked 10 in the morning is just crazy.

It would be possible to have an open casket viewing for MJ... He would have been embalmed shortly after the second autopsy was completed and his body kept refrigerated since then...
