Hi Sports Fans.. wasn't sure where you all wanted to do this.. we need to do our Nascar picks.. and Wimbledon finals are this weekend.. plus the ATT Golf tourney is in Bethesda in honor of our wounded warriors sponsored by Tiger of course... So let's begin.. Just thought it would be easier to have it all in one spot...

Nascar.. Nationwide is tonite.. night race love it... and Sprint is tomorrow night... we need to do or picks..

Wimbledon.. Federer won his match this morning against Haas.. was great.. 3 sets.. two tie breakers... was a great match.. and Andy Roddick plays Murray this afternoon. It's all on NBC. Serena and Venus play tomorrow in the womens final, think I'll pass on that one, for some reason I just don't enjoy watching them play each other.. so.. I can watch golf that day..lol.

Golf.. The AT&T tourney.. Tiger's tourney is in Bethesda.. wonder if he will win his own tourney.. he's 2 back from the leader. He started this tournament in honor of wounded soldiers.. it's a beautiful course.. that is being shown on the Golf Channel and just started at Noon PST.

Let's figure out how we want to do our picks.. and enjoy a great weekend of sports..

Kind of had my fill of politics and the arguing.. it's a holiday weekend.. time to just relax and have some fun.. so think I will just hang out here and avoid all the other fuss.

Here's looking for a Roddick/Federer final at Wimbledon, a great red shirt day for Tiger... and a safe race tonite and tomorrow nite.

Hi fellow Sports Fans!
Thanks Dino for giving us a "home".
Wow,I'm so busy with birthdays and family get-togethers,but am finding a "minnit" for tennis ;)

Love it that Andy is in the finals! He had a powerful match versus Leyton and I thought if he won that,he "might" have a good chance vs. Roger.

Sad to say,I haven't kept up with golf this weekend...not having TGC stinks! I'd like to see Tiger play strong as I think his claws have been clipped a little but he's the ONLY reason I follow golf!

Hehe, you all know who my Main Men are at racin'....
I think the 24 coulda had the checkered flag last week but am happy for Joey.

P.S. Hubby was home today so it feels like a Saturday to me!
Off to a family get-together!

Am praying for a safe and joyous holiday weekend to you all!

 Tiger gets a eagle on par 5.. he's now all by himself in the lead at 11 under... Nothing like leading your own tourney..

On a side note is so nice to see that the tourney is free to kids under 12 and military.. Many recovering soldiers are there today.. many walking the course with their new limbs.. thank you for protecting us soldiers.. we owe you so much.

Love Andre... he was the best... I do the same thing you are doing right now.. actually yesterday I watched the Master Highlights.. how many times people had to go up against Tiger and her creamed them.. they did the top ten...it was great.

Going to get up early tomorrow to watch tennis.. I want to see it LIVE before I read it on the internet.. then I can watch golf... it's going to be great.. what a gorgeous course and I love that Tiger said let the kids and military in free.. it's a family time.. and wanted everyone to be able to enjoy it. Those pin flags are very impressive.. love it.

I'm sure CW will merge.. I knew us sports nuts needed a place to go to avoid all the politically stuff.. I'm sick of it all... any party any person... just tired of it... so I am enjoying what I like best.. SPORTS.

The race starts soon.. love Daytona.. it's the best..

Didn't watch the William's this morning.. there is something that annoy's me about them when they play each other.. kind of takes the fun out of it.. don't really care for them. Am really happy for Roddick though.. hope Jimmy Connors is there to watch him.

Thanks for taking care of the merge. Will be up with the birds tomorrow to catch the Final and hope Andy can win this for the Gipper. Great day and looking forward to it. I am not a football fan so other then Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, I am out of the loop but always sad to have people end their lives this way.
I, too, am tired of the politics and exhausted with the comments. I love the Governor and her family and hope their is no health crisis and pray for the Best for them.

I feel the same about the Gov. Not going to get going about that here..

Andy will go NUTS if he pulls it off tomorrow... but I think Roger just might be too much for him.. but who knows.

Andre is walking around with his short burst pigeon toed feet like he always does. Did you see the video called Tennis Boy of his son playing with a coach. Its a hoot. When asked in an interview how he hooked up with Steffi, Andre said "I stalked her". Andre said that "they" suspended the dance of the Winner's "they" did not want him dancing with her during the 1992 Champion's Diner cause they though he was a bad boy. He's wearing his black outfit.

Maybe it is a good thing I can't see the game. I would have bitten my fingernails down to the nub by now.

Well, I made a BIG mistake. Since we are at home for a short time, kinda in the middle of our summer vacation. To fill automatic fish feeders, pick up the mail and check on the house and garden, I did not turn the satellite back on. I ASSumed Wimbledon would be carried, as it has always been...on regular TV. Too late to do anything about it on a Holiday weekend. It will NOT happen again.

Thanks Again!

ETA...GO TIGER!!!

LMBO don't ya hate it when we make those ASSumptions.. have done it many a time... but I know after a few mistakes.. Wimbledon is ALWAYS ALWAYS on the 4th of July holiday.. and the fortnight before...

Watching Tiger practice right now... LOL.. My husband just asked me how I can go from one sport of making my head go back and forth to keeping it straight...lol.. He's in his own mode right now with Indy car racing...

OMG, now for the really, really depressing news.

When I hooked up the analog to digital converter yesterday, I was using an OLD set of rabbit ears. This morning, in an attempt to find Wimbledon, I changed out those "ears" for a better set that I had.

Nothing changed. Apparently the Magnavox ones don't automatically re-scan for channels.

About 10 minutes AFTER Federer won, my husband says, wonder what happen to channel 17? I punched in 17 and guess what?

Tennis live from Wimbledon. Just shoot me!:blushing:

Me too. I am thrilled at Andy's game. He made lots of improvements working with Jimmy and the backhand is terrific. I think he is moving up to the greats. Borg is still gorgeous. Thanks for getting us merged although I could not find where we were moved to for awhile. On to Golf and Cycling during the commericals. What a terrific day. Fun in the Sun.
PS - When exactly is the British Open.

Connors stopped coaching Roddick a couple years ago I think.. his coach now is Larry Stefanki .. but I'm sure he learned quite a few things from Jimmy.. there was another great talent.

I read about a year and a half ago. Andy says " Jimmy wants to walk his dog everyday and thanked him for all his help". Obviously, Jimmy was helping with the backhand and net rushing, which Andy was lacking somewhat before Jimmy coached him. Do you remember when Jimmy, Borg and John were walking along the sidelines to be introduced and the crowd gave them a standing ovation, like two years ago? I loved watching John McEnroe and Jimmy play.:loveeyes::loveeyes:
I saw Jimmy and Borg play at a Senior Tournment years ago too.

I would love to... but will be more than likely watching from the comfort of a recliner... going to have a little knee repair coming up soon.. you all will be able to call me Jamie Sommer's come October..:tonguewag:

Tiger is playing awesome today.. so did Hunter Mahan..

I'm still recovering from this morning's tennis...lol

According to the PGA site - 1-2:30 on the Golf channel - then 3-6:30 on CBS (did they all take a smoke break for 1/2 hour betweeen 2:30 and 3?) and then 9:30 to 11:30 back on the Golf channel.
Will they not be done by 6:30 or will that be replays?

Because the Golf Channel doesn't have the contract to air it during certain hours.. only the hours CBS isn't covering it. The cover prior to CBS..

dinojen

I gathered that much - but wondered about the gaps; like the odd 1/2 hr gap between 2:30and 3 with no one covering. I missed that time and wondered whether they took a break on the course or what. Isn't no coverage at all unusual? No one had the contract from 2:30 to 3 pm today on an important tournament like this?
And I guess I will see whether the late coverage this evening (at 9:30)is just rerun or if some of them will still be playing. If they are not done at 6:30 its too bad the Golf channel can't pick it up right at that time.
I'm just going by the info on the PGA site information. I guess I should try to get the info from them if I'm so curious about the strange 1/2 hr coverage gap mid afternoon.

All I know is CBS started coverage at Noon PST and it has been straight through no breaks... have seen every hole since Tiger and Kim tee'd off with coverage of the other players too. So not sure what the Golf Channel is talking about. It's 2:35 PST and Tiger and Kim are the last pair and they only have like three holes left to play.

You know Dino is one happy camper today... I LOVED IT.. did you see his little SAM.. OMG is she not adorable. I was ticked they didn't stay on CBS long enough to do the trophy awarding.. I wanted to see Sam and him together.

I also am so proud of what he said about thinking about Pops all day and his winnings all go to the foundation.. there should be more tournaments like this... People often say Tiger isn't sociable.. Tiger does so much that is not know to the public.. that's the way he likes it.

Anyway.. HOLY COW.. Did I have a great day.. first a excellent 4 hour tennis tourney... and then my Tiger... wins his own tournament.. what a great weekend..

I had to borrow some of your thumbs.... rotflmbo

I think we had a wonderful weekend in sports! I didn't see all the tennis but I sure enjoyed the ending to last night's race and the golf today! I also thought what Tiger said about his Pops was really touching and almost cried when the soldier was wheeled up the 18th fairway.

Just saw another show... not sure which channel it was on but they interviewed Tiger after he was given his trophy...lmbo.. he interviewed himself.. it was HILARIOUS.

So glad to see the wounded soldiers enjoy the day, the military families enjoy the day.. and so glad Tiger had a day to remember his Dad.. and how proud he would be of him. They got a nice chunk of $$$$$ today..

He is amazing.. love watching him. I bet he heard from Federer just as Federer heard from Tiger...:tonguewag: What a day..

Don't forget.. July 16th I think that's the date.. British Open.. we will have to start a thread that week.. it's going to be great.
