Michael Jackson: the wounds, the broken heart, LA Times

"Although he would periodically announce recording projects or touring plans, I couldn't imagine, after all the humiliation and disappointment, that Michael could find the strength to step in front of the public again. I thought the fear of failure was too great. It was easier to stay in a fantasy land.

So I was surprised when he announced that he was returning to the stage in a few weeks and was even more surprised when he sold out 50 nights at the O2 Arena in London.

Maybe Michael was stronger than I thought. It took enormous courage to be willing to go back on stage for what could be a make-or-break moment -- and the ticket demand must have given him hope. Despite all that had happened, he saw that he was still loved by millions of fans.

In the best scenario, Michael, 50, would have triumphed in London, not only erasing his mountain of debt but also restoring to himself the sense of invincibility that fame represented. Failure in those shows, however, could have left him even more wounded and vulnerable.

(...) The stress must have been immense -- and maybe in the end it was too much for his broken heart."

Michael Jackson's life was infused with fantasy and tragedy

"I hate to admit it, but I feel strange around everyday people," he said on another occasion. "See, my whole life has been onstage, and the impression I get of people is applause, standing ovations and running after you. In a crowd, I'm afraid. Onstage, I feel safe. If I could, I would sleep on the stage. I'm serious."

Michael Jackson's last rehearsal: 'just beaming with gladness'

Onstage at Staples Center, associates say, the performer radiated joy as he prepared for his comeback tour.

"(..)On Thursday, Ortega recalled Jackson as bursting with enthusiasm and personally invested in the production's most minute details."

"There were a couple of times when Michael stood at my side and we looked at the stage together and were just beaming with gladness that we had arrived at this place," Ortega said. "And he was happy. We all felt that and shared that. We were four or five days from finishing in Los Angeles and heading to London and feeling in really good shape."

"'He looked great and had great energy. He wasn't singing at full level, but it was as beautiful as ever," Alonzo said. 'He didn't even take a moment to grab a bottle of water or take a rest. He went from one number to the other'"

"'He just told me how happy he was and that things were working out the way he wanted,' DiLeo said."

Upcoming Documentary: The Untold Story of Neverland

March 26, 2009 discussing a fresh documentary produced by Larry Nimmer. The documentary, titled "Michael Jackson: The Untold Story of Neverland" has been a work-in-progress since 2005 This new documentary, which is currently being shopped to networks including VH1, "goes beyond the gates of Neverland and into the life of the accuser, Gavin Arvizo, and his family...it is revealed that the downtrodden family has anything but a squeaky clean past, and that the decision to turn on Jackson could have been spurred on by ulterior motives to collect money from the man that the family once considered its celebrity savior." In addition to examining the questionable history of the Arvizo family and the premises of Neverland, the documentary also explores the media at large and the Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office--spearheaded at the time by Thomas Sneddon. Nimmer is said to narrate the film in a "soft-spoken, matter-of-fact" manner and is also expected to include outtakes from the Martin Bashir documentary which paint an entirely different picture on the 2003 accusers and on Michael Jackson.

Pharmaceuticals as tools of control
Although I have no specific proof of this, it is my belief that pharmaceuticals became the tools by which Michael Jackson's handlers were able to chemically abuse him in their quest for further profits. With the right drugs, even a frail man can be artificially pumped up with enough energy to make a stage appearance -- although at great cost to his vitality. And some of the drugs he was put on have the effect of turning you into a mind-numbed zombie, primed for mental manipulation.

In the end, there's no doubt that Jackson was pumped full of too many drugs for any man to bear. Pharmaceuticals don't cure anything, after all, and the more you take, the more toxic the combinations become. The Sun newspaper in the UK claims Jackson was taking Xanax, Prilosec, Vicodin, Paxil, Demerol, Soma, Dilaudid and Zoloft. That's an extremely toxic combination of drugs that no person should be taking long-term. And yet it seems (from press reports, if you can believe those) that Jackson was on some of these drugs for a very long period of time... decades, in some cases.

Jackson's brother Tito disclosed that they are looking at this as an option. The services are expected to take place later this week.

The Rev Al Sharpton, the civil rights leader, has met with the Jackson family and is helping to co-ordinate the arrangements.

Officials from the Los Angeles Police major incident unit have also been involved with talks with the family as crowd control measures will have to be put in place to deal with the influx of mourners to the city.

City officials will be also be involved as road closures will have to be planned in advance.

The funeral is predicted to be the biggest in entertainment history, drawing tens of thousands of mourners and hundreds of millions of television viewers.

Michael Jackson's death: Lawyer for Jackson family says no will has surfaced

Well, there have been reports of [a will], and we are trying to assess that now," said New York-based attorney L. Londell McMillan."None has been presented to the family at this time." Earlier, Joe Jackson issued a statement that was read on the red carpet at the BET Awards. He said he and his wife, Katherine, had the sole personal and legal authority to act on behalf of "our son and his children." He also identified McMillan as the family lawyer.

Jackson kids' godfather never saw him take drugs

"The circumstances of his death just don't add up for me," said Lester, a Jackson friend for more than 25 years who said he never saw the singer use drugs. "It just doesn't make sense.'"
(...)
Lester said one reason he is suspicious about Jackson's sudden death is because the singer was so enthusiastic about his upcoming return to the stage, set for July 13 at the 02 Arena in London. They spoke recently about Jackson's plans to come over to London for final rehearsals, and Lester and his family planned to be there opening night.
(...)
"He was really fired up, really positive, really looking forward to it," said Lester. "He wouldn't tell me about the show, he said he wanted me to be surprised. He said it would be extraordinary."

This is outstanding imo.

Especially the last two paragraphs.

By Andrew Sullivan:

"There are two things to say about him. He was a musical genius; and he was an abused child. By abuse, I do not mean sexual abuse; I mean he was used brutally and callously for money, and clearly imprisoned by a tyrannical father. He had no real childhood and spent much of his later life struggling to get one. He was spiritually and psychologically raped at a very early age - and never recovered. Watching him change his race, his age, and almost his gender, you saw a tortured soul seeking what the rest of us take for granted: a normal life.

But he had no compass to find one; no real friends to support and advise him; and money and fame imprisoned him in the delusions of narcissism and self-indulgence. Of course, he bears responsibility for his bizarre life. But the damage done to him by his own family and then by all those motivated more by money and power than by faith and love was irreparable in the end. He died a while ago. He remained for so long a walking human shell.

I loved his music. His young voice was almost a miracle, his poise in retrospect eery, his joy, tempered by pain, often unbearably uplifting. He made the greatest music video of all time; and he made some of the greatest records of all time. He was everything our culture worships; and yet he was obviously desperately unhappy, tortured, afraid and alone.

I grieve for him; but I also grieve for the culture that created and destroyed him. That culture is ours' and it is a lethal and brutal one: with fame and celebrity as its core values, with money as its sole motive, it chewed this child up and spat him out.

I hope he has the peace now he never had in his life. And I pray that such genius will not be so abused again."

The Mad Dog DA and the Mad Dog Media
The Persecution of Michael Jackson

By ISHMAEL REED

"None of the media descriptions of Jackson’s career, including a superficial pop-driven survey of the star’s career by Anderson Cooper, referred to the 2005 plaintiff’s lies and his mother’s shabby history of conning individuals and institutions including J. C. Penney’s, which she accused of sexual abuse. She claimed that she had been “fondled inappropriately” by store personnel. Documents also hinted that “…the mom rehearsed her children to corroborate her story.”

During the 2005 trial, Jackson’s Attorney, Tom Mesereau Jr. got the teenage boy to admit that he lied under oath during the J. C. Penny case. USA Today reported on March 1, 2005, that the mother used the boy as a prop to get money from Mike Tyson, Adam Sandler, Jim Carrey, Jay Leno and others, “even though insurance was paying his bills." Linda Deutsch, one of the last of hard-nosed shoe leather journalists, reporting for the Associated Press on March of 2005. said that Mesereau got the 15 year old to admit that he’d told Jeffrey Alpert, a school official that “nothing happened" between Jackson and him.

Connie Keenan, editor of Mid Valley News, wrote of a hoax that the boy’s mother perpetrated on that newspaper. She made a pitch that her son needed medical care and that she had no financial means to provide it. During the first week of the newspaper’s appeal, the mother received $965 in donations. It turned out that the boy was being treated at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles with no cost to the family. Connie Keenan concluded that “My gut level, she’s a shark. She was after money. My readers were used. My staff was used. It’s sickening.""

It is, of course, impossible to prove a negative -- that is, prove that something didn't happen. But it is possible to take an in-depth look at the people who made the allegations against Jackson and thus gain insight into their character and motives. What emerges from such an examination, based on court documents, business records and scores of interviews, is a persuasive argument that Jackson molested no one and that he himself may have been the victim of a well-conceived plan to extract money from him.

Santa Barbara County says cost minimal for Neverland Ranch patrol

A spokesman with Santa Barbara County says the cost associated with patrolling the crowds at Neverland Ranch has been minimal.

The spectators at the ranch have thinned out, at least for now. There are still regular patrols of the area. Public Works has also blocked off certain areas to control parking.

A sheriff's spokesman says there will be overtime costs, but the final amount won't be released until next week.

Here are some partial court documents that Ms. Rowe filed in 2006.
I believe they are partial because it was settled out of court.

It does show the settlement reached in 1999.

At the time, it appears she wasn't going back to court to get more money or asking for the children, but to get money owed. It appears the original 8.5 million settlement was not being paid.

SORRY FORGOT LINK

Damning Docs from Debbie Rowe Parental Rights Termination Hearing
Damaging documents from Debbie Rowe's Parental Rights termination hearing were found and posted years ago by the now defunct entertainment show Celebrity Justice.

The documents are a transcript of the hearing where Rowe has some very damning things to say about her relationship - or lack thereof - with Prince Michael Jackson and Paris Jackson.

At the Oct 17 2001 hearing when Rowe was represented by attorney Iris Finsilver, she said the last time she had even seen the children was almost a year before the hearing. She also testified that she never had so much as a desire to call them over the phone.

Before she made the decision to completely terminate her parental rights, Rowe thought about making the decision for a year.

From the hearing transcript:

Here is an interesting link to the memorial page for Charlie Chaplin. MJ was very fond of him. CC's body was snatched after buiral, just like MJ's family is afraid of.

The best-known of the songs he composed is "Smile" made popular by Nat King Cole. His personal life was dismal, full of scandal and political controversy in both England and the US, all his own doing. He was married four times and had a total of 11 children. In 1952, the wheels came off the wagon, plagued with tax problems, accusations from the State department of communist leanings and moralistic issues mainly in the form of paternity suites, Chaplin fled the country settling in Switzerland. Charlie Chaplin suffered a stroke lapsing into a coma of short duration never to immerge at his Swiss manor at Corsier-sur-Vevey on Christmas Day at age 88. A private service and burial took place at the nearby village cemetery A few months after his burial, his body and coffin were removed and held for ransom. It was located three months later buried in a cornfield some ten miles away, returned and re-buried. Two hapless perpetrators were caught and convicted.

Santa Ynez Residents Say Never! to Conversion of Jackson’s Neverland Ranch: A group forms to oppose turning the Santa Barbara County property into a Graceland-like attraction

http://www.noozhawk.com/local_news/article/072109_santa_ynez_residents_say_never_to_conversio n_of_jacksons_neverland/

Distaste for the idea of converting Neverland into an attraction is unanimous among most of the residents, he said. Also of concern is the property’s zoning, which designates it for agriculture and would require an overhaul of the county’s General Plan. Fields said he believes it would set a precedent for other ag lands where developers would like to reap commercial profits.

The property’s owner, Tom Barrack, is the billionaire real estate investor and founder of Colony Capital LLC. According to valley residents, Barrack has assured them he has no plans to repackage Neverland as a tourist spot. He’s even hosted several high-end dinners at the ranch, by invitation only, to assure them he has no plans at this time.

Diprivan/Propofol

- can be highly addictive

- many who become addicted start out by using Diprivan to relieve sleep deprivation

- can be self administered, with some addicts injecting themselves 50-70 times per day

- can produce a state of oblivion -- "completely blotto," says one expert -- that takes away all anxiety and fear

- can produce euphoric sensations, disinhibition, sexual hallucinations. One Doctor reports that it differs from other sedation agents in this sense, quote "a feeling of euphoria with no residual 'hangover' may suggest propofol is a near perfect mood-altering drug, but it is one that possesses a very thin window separating the dreamy state from the nonresponsive."

- is so lethal and the "dosage window" so narrow that addiction can likely lead to death, with one report stating that 28% of medical personnel who tried Diprivan even once died

- there were 43 reported deaths linked to Propofol in 2008, up from an average of 22 deaths per year the previous decade

- may be easier to steal from hospital settings than other narcotics (where every milligram of use is accounted for, unlike Propofol)

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened in the days and hours before Michael Jackson died on June 25. But someone who witnessed the King of Pop's last days said she saw the toll the intense rehearsals for the singer's planned London comeback concerts were taking on the 50-year-old and that he said they were "killing" him.

The new documents
in the Michael Jackson estate case show the special administrators of the estate expect to haul in money in the "high eight figures" for merchandising and other Jackson-related stuff.

The docs mention the $5.5 million the special administrators already collected from Dr. Tohme Tohme. In addition, the administrators have collected "millions of dollars of tangible personal property throughout the country, including memorabilia and art."

The docs say the special administrators are deep in negotiations to market all things Jackson.

The docs claim the special administrators have resolved three lawsuits.

LOS ANGELES — Hours before Michael Jackson's death, his doctor administered multiple sedatives along with a powerful anesthetic the pop star used to sleep, according to a law enforcement official. It's a safe combination if done properly; potentially lethal if not.

The official said the type of sedatives Dr. Conrad Murray gave Jackson were benzodiazepines, often used to calm patients before surgery. Murray told investigators the doses were within normal medical guidelines,

Law enforcement sources say that they found three large bottles of Propofol and five smaller vials of the anesthetic in Michael Jackson's house.

The drugs were found in the closet attached to Dr. Conrad Murray's bedroom - where he administered Propofol and Jackson died in his bed June 25.

Police think Murray left him unattended after giving him the fatal dose.

In any event, anesthesiologists say if the stash was used to keep Michael asleep for eight hours, it would require about three bottles and five vials. In other words, the entire "stash" would have lasted one night. So he likely had a supplier.

It is believed Murray was getting shipments of the drug through FedEx and may have been storing it outside Jackson's home, so he could regularly administer it.

Michael Jackson’s grave and possible final resting place

Michael Jackson’s possible grave photos have been released, and they are quite beautiful.
Berry Gordy the legendary owner and founder of Tamla Motown records offered a resting place to the Jackson family in his very private $2million, 18 body capacity mausoleum.

A life size statue of Jesus Christ guides the way and the poem “If” by Rudyard Kipling is carved 3 meters high in a marble slab overlooking the site.

There are no markings to give away it’s location, even the marble inlaid “G” identifying the precise part of the cemetery has been covered by an almost 2 meter diameter piece of stone.

The structure looks over a small private garden area inaccessible to all, there are marble benches in the hallway of the crypt and a large mosaic covers one wall.

CCTV cameras surround the property and 24 hr. security staff are on duty.

Michael Jackson's Children Spend Weekend in Vegas

With their grandma by their side, Michael Jackson's children had a splashing good time over the weekend in Las Vegas.

Prince Michael I, 12, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II (a.k.a. "Blanket"), 7, were spotted at the Palms Casino Resort's pool sipping on virgin strawberry-banana daiquiri's on Sunday. They, along with three friends, dunked each other in the pool and swam around for more than two hours. Blanket, wearing a life preserver, even showed some of his moves, dancing on the edge of the pool before jumping in the water.

Katherine Jackson kept a close eye, accompanied by a friend and nanny, and smiled over the pool-side antics.

An official at the coroner’s office said a fatal combination of drugs was given to Jackson hours before he died in his rented Los Angeles mansion on June 25. Forensic tests found the powerful anesthetic propofol in Jackson's system along with two sedatives, the official said.

On the morning Jackson died, Dr Murray tried to induce sleep without using propofol, according to the affidavit. He said he had given Jackson valium at 1:30 a.m. When that didn't work, he said, he injected lorazepam intravenously at 2 a.m. At 3 a.m., when Jackson was still awake, Murray administered midazolam.

Over the next few hours, Murray said he gave Jackson various drugs. Then at 10:40 a.m., Murray administered 25 milligrams of propofol after Jackson repeatedly demanded the drug, according to the court records.

Now that he's facing a possible malpractice rap, Dr. Arnold Klein probably wants to avoid as many trips to court as possible.

An attorney for Michael Jackson's former dermatologist said Thursday that his client has decided against petitioning for a say in the upbringing of Jackson's two eldest children, 12-year-old Prince Michael and 11-year-old Paris.

Both of whom could actually be Klein's biological children—a relationship that Klein has not particularly denied, nor will he be setting out to prove any time soon through the marvels of science.
