We've just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles ... and we're told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago -- we're told his mother is on the way to visit him.

UPDATE: The 911 call came in at 12:21PM at his Holmby Hills home in L.A.

The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the pop legend was rushed to the hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department. According to the Times, Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived and they performed CPR on him in the ambulance.

Reps for Jackson have not yet responded to ET's request for comment.

Jackson is renting a home in the Holmby Hills in the 100 block of Carolwood Drive off Sunset Boulevard. It is about two minutes from the UCLA Medical Center.

Family members have been called and are on their way to UCLA, sources say.

UCLA officials are not releasing any details about the pop star's condition.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

Some stars just burn too brightly and beautifully to be understood or appreciated by mere mortals such as ourselves, and when the Gods cruelly take them from us, these stellar miracles flame out before we are even able to realize how much we needed and adored them.I respect his talent, loved his work - and any oddness that happened as a result of 'burning too brightly' - I never held any of that against him. I was thinking about it - I think that Pepsi commercial where he was burned - I think that really affected him - he was never quite the same person after that it seemed.

I don't much agree with it - a lot of bad stuff can be presented as true when you don't bother with confirmation like a reputable station.

I am guessing they are waiting for official word from either the hospital or spokesperson for family members. The family might want to be all together before it is announced to the rest of the world. Horrible thing to go through for all of them.

I am sorry for his passing. He scared me with the allegations of abuse, but I think his life was horrific in so many ways due to his lack of childhood. I, for one, was never fully convinced that he was guillty of molesting children. I won't go into the reasons as to why I feel this way, because the bashers would have a field day. Just let me say that because of he, himself, never having a childhood, had a great deal to do with it. Adults controlled him, and children responded to him. I just can't see him doing them harm, but that's just my opinion.

All in all, he was a wonderful entertainer and I will miss his music. (i'm nearly 65 by the way)

He was found innocent on all charges, by a jury. Everybody just put the ones who want to be disrespectful on ignore.


Legally he was found not guilty; not innocent. Many people are found 'not guilty' but it does not mean everyone in the public agrees with the verdict.

Michael Jackson had issues; regardless of the charges, he did dangle his baby out a window--any of us that would have done that would have faced investigation. He was accused of molestation--if any of us had a neighbor that acted and did things such as MJ did with children, I doubt any of us would let our young children around him.

Talent, yes, he had talent, he was gifted, IMO, something happened to MJ, I don't know what, but his behavior became more and more erratic, it is too bad that his family and friends could not help him before it came to this.

I just hope that his children will be raised to have a normal life, not going through it in masks and veils...but to interact and live like real children.



I truly wish blessings to his friends, family, and most importantly his children.

I think the best thing he did was write some good songs. After that, there's a whole lot of room for doubt about him being a bright and beautiful star.

People didn't approve of him because of his inappropriate behavior toward children, his own and those of others.

Too bad he let his pedophile proclivities take over his personal the professional life. It's hard to get past that, and think of him as "a stellar miracle." I think that's a bit much.

I know you are right about "ignore" but sometimes it is so hard. I just watched the "Jackson's" movie last week for the first time and it brought back so many memories of seeing them when they were the "5" and just how talented he was and how I envied my family members that could dance. I'd get their 45's as soon as they'd come out in the shops. His enormous talent has inspired so many artists of today. No matter what his personal demons he brought so much joy and hope to this world. Via con Dios, Michael

MJ himself said that he thought it was beautiful and normal to take children other than his own into his bed...IMO, that is inappropriate behavior; not proven in a court as criminal, but again IMO, inappropriate.

I want Phil Spector to serve out his sentence that he was given, not die. But Spector was convicted of a crime and serving time in prison.
I don't have to respect him but I don't have a need to run him in the ground either if he passes away. To me it would just mean that he was serving out his time in prison until he passed away.

Michael was always controversial but he was an extremely talented man. Today that is what should be recognized. IMO, many will miss Michael and will be sad that he has passed away so young. Some of course will be glad he is gone. He was never convicted of a crime and hasn't had any further allegations lodged against him that I am aware of but I haven't kept up with him rather than reading he was going to do a summer tour again. I would have liked to see him. He is not only an extremely talented singing artist but he is the best choreographer/dancer I have ever seen.

Not guilty does not equal "innocent." Not guilty means the state did not prove its case. It doesn't mean the defendant wasn't guilty of the crime(s).

Like any gossip rag - they post information BEFORE it can be confirmed. This means they will sometimes be wrong, but also that they'll post a fair bit that is true before anyone else can.

I don't much agree with it - a lot of bad stuff can be presented as true when you don't bother with confirmation like a reputable station.

What has TMZ ever reported that turned out to be inaccurate? I'm really curious to know.

Have you ever bothered to listen to Harvey Levin speak because I have? He has always made it very clear that he confirms the accuracy of his stories BEFORE he reports them. He is a lawyer so I am certain he understands the ramifications of putting false info out there.
