truTV's "In Session" Shuts Down
Breaking: TVNewser has learned truTV's 'In Session' daytime programming is shutting down its New York operations leaving as many as 65 staffers out of a job. Executives from Turner Broadcasting, which owns truTV, have been notifying employees of the change this afternoon. 'In Session' includes longtime anchors Jack Ford and Ashleigh Banfield, who, we're told, are among the cuts.
...
truTV began as CourtTV in 1991. It made its name with gavel-to-gavel coverage of trials across the country, most notably OJ Simpson's double murder trial in 1994-95. Time Warner had a 25% stake in CourtTV when it launched. It bought full control in 2006 and re-branded the channel on Jan. 1, 2008.
...

More: Statement from Turner Broadcasting: Production of truTV's IN SESSION trial coverage will shift from New York to HLN in Atlanta, effective Nov. 16, to leverage the unrivaled production capabilities and infrastructure of the CNN organization, which includes HLN.
Whew, sounds like trial coverage WILL continue.

I think the headline is misleading. Looks like they're shutting down in NY but will continue in Atlanta. :::crossing fingers:::

I agree...boooooo.
WOW, scared me. At first glance I though they meant the message boards which I care about a lot more then the TV show. In fact, since Vinny left, I have almost never watched the trials.

That is also my take on the linked article. They are cutting lots of jobs in New York but some of those jobs will be relocated to Atlanta. Atlanta will have more staff.
I wonder if Jack Ford and Banfield were even *offered* a transfer to Atlanta? Perhaps they were and turned down an offer to stay in NY where they have roots. Personally, I will miss Jack Ford for his serious and professional anchor demeanor. His explanations of complex legal issues are easy to understand. On the other hand, I won't miss Banfield for her too giggly and flighty personality even though she often asked question that I, as a viewer, would ask.
Nothing was mentioned about Jami Floyd. I always assumed she was being broadcast from NYC as well since she is often seen as sitting around the anchor desk with other co-anchors. I suppose we will find out if she will also be dropped when her contract expires...or she may accept a transfer offer to Atlanta. Hmmmm [JMO * Themis]
