Gov. Palin also threatens some of the male elected officials in the GOP. I’m guessing they are responding like liberal women: she reminds them of the major deficiencies in their own congressional leadership and they’re worried that if compared to her by other people, in contrast, they don’t measure up. Or, they’re just viciously competitive to the point of “anything goes in politics.” That “leader of the pack,” “Alpha Dog” kind of thing (hmm… more than the usual amount of canine references in this piece).

When Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin's church sponsored an ex-gay conference last year, PFLAG issued press releases against Sarah Palin and organized protests at her church. This same church was later anonymously vandalized by fire, reminiscent of the burning of black churches in the South during the civil rights movement. Churches should welcome former homosexuals like me, and PepsiCo should not fund organizations like PFLAG that do not welcome diversity, but promote hatred.

Well considering this is just a evening of giggles and grins and dinner and the entertainment being Wanda Sykes.. I don't think to many are taking this dinner seriously... it's suppose to be a evening of fun.
As for Todd Palin.. I bet he does just fine.. and has a great time no matter who he is seated next to. I did read that he was going to be seated at the FOX table...but that is just what I read on the internet.
Funny on the list below.. the FOX network isn't even mentioned... funny how Washington never mentions them...
Anyway... here's the list of who will be attending..

It does sound like this man has a condition that we are not aware of. Something that is sparked by stress. Perhaps he didn't have his medication that day or the stress level was just too high. It reminds me of what I have read of bipolar. Then he went without medication those days, I would assume. Yes they are but you snipped my post which explains why I believe may be the reason:
I am sure his staff and wife are keeping his whereabouts close to the breast as they know the media would be right there "bugging" him and apparently he just needed a little space to get away from it all.
Additional comment: I don't believe they don't know where he is and remain as calm as they have been JMO
That doesn't change or invalidate my post. My point is that he put his state at risk and acted irresponsibly. If he "just needed a little space to get away from it all," he could have left his lieutenant governor in charge. And should have.

People forget that McCain had no problem treating Chelsea Clinton viciously too. And it was suppose to be a joke.
As Molly Ivins recalled, Rush's 1993 slur against the 13 year old daughter of the new President was signature Limbaugh:
On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone.
When viewers objected, he claimed, in typical Limbaugh fashion, that the gag was an accident and that without his permission some technician had put up the picture of Chelsea--which I found as disgusting as his original attempt at humor.
Five years later, John McCain got into the act with a slander of Chelsea Clinton that was infinitely more vulgar. Appearing at a 1998 Republican Senate fundraiser, McCain reached into the gutter to show his conservative family values with this:
"Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno."
http://www.perrspectives.com/blog/archives/000930.htm
McCain got a free pass on this but did apologize to the Clintons. Limbaugh heard about it but made excuses. Neither had the uproar that Letterman did.

Investigator makes right call on legal defense fund
"Gov. Palin insists she has done nothing wrong so far with the legal defense fund because she has not taken any of the legal defense fund money. Nonetheless, she is poised to benefit from a legal defense fund created specifically to help her. Merely lending her name to the effort to raise legal defense money for her own benefit is a "probable" violation, the investigator said. And if she does take any of the money, the investigator says it would violate Alaska ethics law.
It's an embarrassing turn for a governor who rose to power as a crusader for higher ethical standards."

"In attempting to contextualize Palin, much has been written about the corrupting nature of celebrity. Commentators frequently note that the stargazers are as corrupted as the star, i.e., that without the visible adoration of the crowd, there can be no celebrity. Further, several have argued the idolization often enough brings out the subject's baser nature, encouraging convictions of superiority and entitlement.
Interestingly, most of the glorification of Palin has not come from within Alaska, but from Outside, a circumstance likely to continue in the future. And her attractiveness for Alaskans will surely lessen after her formal retirement this weekend. Palin's public future, if there is one, will be national, not local."

Yes, she has lost it and revealed herself as flaky, delusional, dishonest, slightly paranoid, and in way over her head. Palin should have never been elected governor. She wasn't ready and those of us who voted for her should have known it. The lesson is that personality, image and looks should never trump substance when evaluating a candidate. But that's all in the past now. Hopefully most of us have learned from our mistake. The big question now is how do we get busy cleaning up her mess?

The Inuit have a word, “qivit,” that you do not want to have applied to you. It means to quit or give up when the going gets rough. In traditional times, and that was very recent, if you gave up as a leader you were jeopardizing yourself and everyone around you. It takes a lot of effort to maintain life in the bitter cold of the Arctic...In short, Alaska had a governor who had the stature within the state, nationally and internationally, to deal with our problems. She could have used her position to find solutions to the high costs and financial insecurities of our far-northern state. Instead, she abandoned her role as the state’s leader in midstream, making her the only governor in our state’s history to "qivit" in the true sense of the word, at a time when we need strong leadership. Good luck, Governor Parnell — may the great Arctic spirits be with you.

The Census Bureau reported last week that the nation’s poverty rate rose to 13.2 percent in 2008, the highest level since 1997 and a significant increase from 12.5 percent in 2007. That means that some 40 million people in this country are living below the poverty line, defined as an income of $22,205 for a family of four. The middle class also took a major hit. Median household income fell in 2008 to $50,300 from $52,200 in 2007. That is the steepest year-to-year drop since the government began keeping track four decades ago; adjusted for inflation, median income was lower in 2008 than in 1998 and every year since then. Clearly, the recession has been brutal. But even before the recession, far too many Americans were already living far too close to the edge. As is now painfully evident, the economic growth of the Bush era was largely an illusion. Poverty worsened during most of the boom years and middle-class pay stagnated, as most gains flowed to the top. In a recent update of their groundbreaking series on income trends, the economists Thomas Piketty and Emmanuel Saez found that from 2002 to 2007, the top 1 percent of households — those making more than $400,000 a year — received two-thirds of the nation’s total income gains, their largest share of the spoils since the 1920s. Because many if not most Americans gained little to nothing from the Bush “growth” years, they have found themselves especially vulnerable to the recession

In addition to her comments that President Obama's citizenship should be questioned, she wrote a statement on her Facebook page that calls for Obama to boycott the climate conference in Copenhagen, specifically due to the recent "ClimateGate" email incident. That controversy, in which hackers broke into the accounts of prominent climate scientists and exposed some of their correspondence, has global warming skeptics in a frenzy. (Check out our piece debunking the rumors: The 6 Most Dubious Claims About "ClimateGate.") Palin throws her support behind global warming denier Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) and his investigation into the emails. In the statement, she claims to have never questioned the reality of climate change but she asks whether man's activities have anything to do with it. She also rails against "snake oil" science, and says, "Policy decisions require real science and real solutions, not junk science and doomsday scare tactics pushed by an environmental priesthood that capitalizes on the public's worry and makes them feel that owning an SUV is a 'sin' against the planet."

Palin, though notoriously ill-traveled outside the United States, did journey far to the first of the four colleges she attended, in Hawaii. She and a friend who went with her lasted only one semester. "Hawaii was a little too perfect," Palin writes. "Perpetual sunshine isn't necessarily conducive to serious academics for eighteen-year-old Alaska girls." Perhaps not. But Palin's father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to Conroy and Walshe. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: "They were a minority type thing and it wasn't glamorous, so she came home." In any case, Palin reports that she much preferred her last stop, the University of Idaho, "because it was much like Alaska yet still 'Outside.' "

"Although three-quarters of the nation's estimated 2 million home schoolers identify themselves as Christian, the number of Muslims is expanding "relatively quickly," compared with other groups, said Brian Ray, president of the National Home Education Research Institute.
They do so, he said, for the same reasons as non-Muslims: "Stronger academics, more family time, they want to guide social interaction, provide a safe place to learn and . . . teach them [their] values, beliefs and worldview."
