There was a news story on the radio this morning. Someone discovered the state had 16,000 phone lines not being used at a cost of 3 million per year. And the Governor is going lay off fire fighters and close parks and yes... release prisoners early. :w00t:

I think the governor and possible a couple other governors may have found a partial solution to their states' financial woes.

The Governor thinks it is a federal problem. imoIt is. Border control is a federal responsibility. Failing to enforce illegal immigrant hiring laws is no small part of how we are where we are today. California doesn't control this issue - the feds do.


I love the idea - let's overload them with illegals to deport, let them take on the financial burden of handling them. They can explain to us why all of these people were let in our porous border, able to work at jobs that were able to present false information to the IRS that the IRS knew was false, and not be prosecuted.

California has always had huge costs from our lack of enforcement of immigration law. Only now that we no longer have so much money to spare are we finally getting vocal about it.

Wouldn't that be great! Now that one state is going to do this I hope they all follow suit. The federal government has fallen down on their responsibility and the states have had to pay for it. This has been going on so long, illegals are in every state in the country.

Well as a CA native, I say yes to immigrant students.
I say yes to any culture who is trying to make a better life for their family.
Immigrants are not coming here to commit crimes.

Good points. Immigrants are not the people destroying our economic system, destroying the enviornment, etc. etal. In some eyes, their crime is wanting a better life for their families, like everyone else. IMHO

And personally, a child of an 'illegal' immigrant would most likely not have the same education level as your child or mine...therefore no competition in the classroom...
As I said earlier, people are only threatened by others who are different if they are intimidated or feel threatened. I don't.

I know what you're trying to say, that some drugs should be legal, etc. But the thing is, right now, they're not. And anyone who possess drugs knows they are breaking the law and subject to the punishment.

personaly I dont care if they had a whole fridge of the stuff anymore then I woudl care if a person had a whole fridge of hienikin or something, I don't smoke it and I don't drink it and I do not want my tax dollars going to prohibit it, prohibition doesn't work, it just makes criminals out of non-criminals

I agree, there is always hope, people probably thought the same about alcohol prohibition at one time and in the end they were right, think republicans would be pushing for less of a nanny government here and CA is run by republicans, so time will tell, democrats are busy trying to ban e-cigarettes and tax cigarettes out of existence, course at a certain price people will just start making their own, lost tax opertunity, so doubt this would pass in a democratic state at this point, heck this could be a fight that get's republicans back on the map and save ca at the same time if they played it right

Heck yeah, I am disgusted with the lack of academic aspirations of a lot of American students but, we need to tackle the internal problem not just give away their birthright to a good education criminals. I hate the entitlement attitude of those who broke the law to get into this country or those that support them.

It is not a good Sunday morning. I am at work and not at church or spending it with my grandchildren so.......entitlement is not a good subject today.

What I don't like is the fact that immigrant children eight times out of ten, start at school without knowl. of the English language, require ESL teachers (English as a secong language), they require more time and attention than children that already speak English....taking away from my kid, while I'm fotting the bill....Immigrants aren't paying taxes and therefore aren't paying for their education...ask a teeacher about the difficulties presented when a child that doesn't apeak English, has an issue...unlesss the teacher is multi-lingual, how does this isas get expressed to the parents???

I'm all for hard work and competition, but I think they should stay where they came from...until they can come here "leagally"....:thumbsup:
