Announcing our Newest arrival: Gilda Rose Radner! We just call her Gilda, in a gravely voice to her.
She is only 3 1/2 mos old and is a GCC, a Green Cheeked Conure. She is the biggest little clown and won my heart about a week ago. She is so quiet, once in awhile she will let loose with the conure call but for the most part, she growls softly and kind of says quack. (sounds like KWWWaaaK)
Aw! She already knows her name, knows DADDY too, and just about has a royal cow when we come downstairs in the morning. She eats almost anything that I present to her, including chicken! (birdie for the bird)
She loves cranberries. The GCC is known for having a huge personality in a small parrot's body and so far this is true. She loves her toys, loves to skirt around her cage & do silly things, like run around inside it and hang upside down. She LOVES her cuddle nest and thinks it's a buddy. I guess that is why they call them cozzy buddies. This is her furry nest/tent she sleeps in inside her cage.
She learned to step up in three days time. She loves to bathe in the sink under a running stream or in her water bowl. :D
Tonight she mumbled softly after I put her to bed. They can live to be 30 if cared for properly so I hope that she has a long life with us. She is only 1/2 the size of a grown GCC and loves to chew on things. They like to shred so I'm giving her shredded paper towel rolled up in a ball with a nutra berry hidden inside. So far, the nutra berry is like CRACK to her. :D
