Interesting being Maher is a Obama supporter. Interesting editorial..
The president is on TV more than the ShamWow guy, but I want to see a little more action.

President Obama should just join the cast of "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" It's not that farfetched; he's been on everything else.
I'm still a fan, but there's a fine line between being transparent and being overexposed. Every time you turn on the TV, there's Obama. He's getting a puppy! He's eating a cheeseburger with Joe Biden! He's taking the wife to Broadway and Paris -- this is the best season of "The Bachelor" yet!
I get it: You love being on TV. I love my bong, but I take it out of my mouth every once in a while. The other day, I caught myself saying to a friend, "Don't tell me if he's fixed the economy yet, I'm Tivo-ing it."
Remember during the campaign when John McCain attacked Obama for acting like a celebrity and we all laughed at the grumpy old shellshocked fool? Well, it turns out he was right. Sorry, senator. I'm sending a nice gift basket of high-fiber muffins your way.
It's getting to where you can't turn on your TV without seeing Obama. Who does he think he is, Dick Cheney? Come on, sir, you don't have to be on television every minute of every day. You're the president, not a rerun of "Law and Order." Save some charisma for a rainy day. Taking strangers from a TV show on a tour of your house? We have that show; it's called "Cribs." And letting reporters ask you questions like "You like to be the one who picks out the shaving cream, don't you?" Or as it's called today, "journalism." I was willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt until I saw him take Brian Williams into his bedroom, and at the end of the bed there was a teleprompter and it said, "Who's your daddy?"
I'll let you read the rest for yourselves... some very good points Mr. Maher... IMVHO.

 While I find Bill Maher extreme, I do think he's FUNNY! This has me rolling with tears of laughter!! Thanks for the great laughs, dinojen! Maher has nailed it!
Something I'd never thought I'd hear from Bill Maher:
I never thought I'd say this, but he needs to be more like George W. Bush. Bush was all about, "You're with us or against us."
(I always get a kick out of "New Rules")

I find it quite comical that a basher would start a thread using the same person who was said to be a nobody by the Bush supporters while he was attacking Bush and his policies.
I guess again that a person is ok so long as he/she is saying what one wants to hear.
Having said that I don't begrudge Maher his opinion. If he thinks Obama has been on tv to much then he can always find something else to watch.
But let me say, his rant on Friday night kinda reminded me of something his close, personal friend would rant about....and those in the know will know that close, personal friend of whom I speak.
I find it quite comical that you would remember a particular poster who started a thread during the Bush admn. MO

Mahr's show reruns on HBO today, starts in about 27 minutes on HBO here on west coast. Reruns again Monday I think. As far as the media, they like to cover politics and politicians and this Admin allows more access than Bush did, so they cover him. He's a new President, and first African American, so it's historic in that sense; and new legislation; new cabinet members etc. When Bush first became Pres. media covered the new admin. eagarly, too. I like Bill & I'm a Dem, but he can be, as a commedian/comentator too left sometimes for me, but I do get his jokes, and do laugh no matter how irreverant.

I find alot of your posts most comical also, so I guess we are even then.
And just FYI.. I neither voted for Bush either time nor did I vote for the current POTUS.
And actually I have only listened to Bill Maher a few times I just heard about his article in the LA Times and was curious about his OPINION.
His opinion I actually happen to agree with this time.. enough of the dog and pony shows on a daily basis, enough of the PC everytime he signs something or appoints another czar.. we don't need to be updated on your every move and what you like on your burgers or who is picking up after Bo on the white house lawn.
I heard him enough while he was in campaign mode to last me four years.. JMVHO which I am more than entitled to..

I don't like Maher, but he is right.
Obama's administration is like a reality show with very little substance but loaded with photo ops and phony "aw shucks" moments. I'm not surprised though because it was pretty apparent of what this would be like during the campaign with the gaudy props and can we ever forget the "president-elect" sign. LOL
You can try to ignore it, but it pops up in the most unlikely spots.

One other little note that drives me insane.. Everyone refers Obama to the first African American President.. guess his maternal sides doesn't count for jack diddly...why don't they call him multiracial instead of African American..? Guess it wouldn't garner the same publicity... JMHO..

Oh, goodness, dinojen, don't let such a tiny thing get to you. You know, don't sweat the small stuff. Because it's going to be said forever that the President is the first black President or the first President of color or the first African-American to be President. Because he is.

I have always really liked Maher and watch his show every Friday night.
I think this monologue was very, very funny, too.
Loved this (from the OP link):
You can relax about that, Mr. President, knowing that there's a large, rich organization doing everything it possibly can to ensure that you'll get reelected: It's called the Republican Party...Bush had horrible ideas, like torture and deregulation and preemptive war and tax cuts for the rich, but he pushed them through, in their full measure, never mind Congress or the Constitution or the Geneva Convention or the Magna Carta or the Code of Hammurabi...And we need to marry the good ideas Obama really believes in with that Bush attitude and Bush certitude. I'd love for Obama to come out one day and say, "Jesus told me to fix healthcare." Or, "History will decide whether stopping the polar ice caps from melting and drowning us all was a good thing." In conclusion, Bush was a jerk, but he never cared about being seen having a burger with Dick Cheney. He picked up the phone in the White House and said, "I'm the president, bring me a burger." And they'd say, "Sir, this is NORAD. Would you please stop ordering burgers with the red phone?"

It was funny, and I didn't see it as against Pres Obama so much as an indictment of the media. There is a lot happening in govt at the moment, and the MSM showed how many shots of him lunching with VP Biden?
Me too. I hope both the white house and the media take the hint and lay off the constant publicity. Love the man - and his family - but enough is enough!!!
Oh and I like pmsnbc - hadn't heard that one before. Very good.

I agree and sorta like American Idol for orators, text in B1 to vote for best speech performance and we have a celebrity.
He did say he'd create a lot jobs, didn't say they'd all be czars in the WH (how much help does he need??), unemployment should be down!
And then we have the concern that Biden would ever be the top dog!! Scary!!

 Is that like blame the victim? Can hear the wails of the MSM now, if they were prevented from stalking the president 24/7. But to imply the president has control over which 'moments' are aired is simply humorous, as was Maher's comedy piece.
I had to read this twice, LOL! You really think Obama does not have any influence over what the media airs ... why do you think the liberal stations show every word/move!! ????

LMBO about the czars, those are the only jobs I have seen created.. or govt. jobs... Did Caterpillar hire anyone back yet.. I think not... they laid off more.
Did you see where they asked VP Biden if he was interested in a run for the office in 2012, fresh from Huff Puff.

"I'm glad that Obama is president, but the "Audacity of Hope" part is over. Right now, I'm hoping for a little more audacity."
One thinks the Media should just stop and give it to the comedians. Because of their slant on issues, they can state the truth without having the wrath of anyone descend upon them (unless, of course they mention a northern Governor). Sadly it is impossible for anyone else, including the President to show such "audacity".
I listened to, and agreed with Bill Maher, but I also understand that unfortunately, as the Clintons discovered, there is so much money available to fight any policy that doesn't have the support of business and the wealthy, it is so much easier to say it - than to do it.
I also agree that if President Obama can't get it together with the current level of popular and congress support, then real change is never going to happen. Some real and open support from Congress leaders would go a long way to resolve what is currently not happening.
