I'm beginning to think Limbaugh says the things he does just to earn money, and that he's really not someone who, himself, believes what he is saying.
He's really to smart to believe everything he says, smart enough to make millions for saying the most outrageous things day after day.

Now THAT is funny! I really wonder if the man believes what he says half the time.
Whether he does or doesn't believe it, he has millions that do believe him. That's a tad worrisome.

I heard the remark replayed and first he was complaining because Obama said that with diet and nutrition diabetes could be controlled, and that a lot of money could be saved by reducing the causes of diabetes which drains the system. Rush took offense saying he Barack thinks fat people are the cause of high healthcare cost, then went on to say he thinks Barack's wrong and that it the people who exercise and do sports and break hips and knees etc.
The man is beyond silly. I heard a Dr. say on radio the other night tht 40% of the money paid out in medicare is for care attributed to being over weight: back, foot pain, diabetes and more.

Actually it is obese people that smoke too much and don't excercise anything but their mouths that is putting a strain on our health system.

But only 25-35% of the population smokes. Many have quit or not taken it up since around the 80s; lots more used to. So maybe they've taken up eating! Corn syrup in everything has led to a severe diet change in last 30 years and is a contributor. Sugar and corn syrup. And PE and exercise taken out of the schools, and classes like Home Ec, nutrition and so on. Poverty or low wage adds to that at high calorie carb food is relatively cheap. And as far as fresh produce etc: many time in inne cities, they don't have the choice for that and its too expensive.
LOL, there were no fast food joints on every block when I grew up, and PE, in Illinois was one hour every day all through jr. high and H.School and first 2 year of college. Schools have cut way back on that stuff. We've become a a more sendentary society.
I'm old enough to remember JFK's PE fittness awards and kids earned badges and things in gym class doing certain activities and levels. Kids loved it. But smoking is way down since say the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. IMHO, or from what I've observed.

:laugh: Not surprised that msnbc is targeting Limbaugh, especially since Limbaughs ratings are much higher than the failing msnbc.

An OBESE limbaugh saying ANYTHING about exercise is ludicrous.
Now ben, don't be harsh. Ol' Rush didn't stop "exercising" during one entire, famous recent speech. Remember?

If one was inclined to be suspicious, one might wonder just where a guy of his girth gets all that energy. :sneaky:

Just more proof that truth and reality doesn't matter - he'll spew out whatever fits his world view, makes him feel best - regardless of how easily it is proven false.
My father fell for his lies - a sad thing - he could recognize how Limbaugh was giving mistruths, slanted info, half truths, etc. on the environment (an area he was concerned about, and was enough of a scientist to know about), but still believe he was accurate on other issues - he could see the lies, but wanted to believe the rest of it. It's not about truth - it's about a desire to believe.

Hasn't anyone here ever heard of doing things in moderation?
Yeah, no exercise comes with it's own health problems, but it is true that excessive exercise can be a problem too.
Look at your Olympic and professional athletes - it is almost a rite of passage to have had surgery to repair torn ligaments, scoping out knee joints etc. The body is designed to only take so much, and too much exercise does put a lot of strain on it. HIgh risk sports such as skiing, rock climbing, motorcross etc. have one almost expecting at some point to result in injuries.
The extremes on both ends make up a lot of the burden on the system.
jmo
so should we heavily tax exercise equipment and big macs?
