Seemed like the kinder, gentler Nancy Grace last night. More like she used to be. I liked it much better than where it’s been going lately.

Found myself thinking - probably the people or bots who search these forums for comments about programming might have suddenly realized that those who post here are the viewing audience and maybe they should adjust accordingly. Nancy has taken some pretty hard hits in the commentary lately. Most of us who watch her regularly like NG, but some of us have been uncomfortable with her harshness lately.

The harsher side of Nancy? To me, she just doesn’t wear it well. Judge Judy wears it well. It just doesn’t look so great on Nancy. Doesn’t quite fit her. Especially when she is confrontational and/or rude to her guest(s). We want her to ask the tough questions, but not necessarily with a rough approach.

Liked the summary on the Coleman case. Rather than going over the same case and the same info night after night, I thought it was a good recap with some new info.

Lots of commentary lately about the twins, too. I’m sure HLN gets many requests for updates about them and pics of them. Those of us who aren’t quite as interested probably aren’t commenting or emailing because we don’t want to seem rude? Maybe they could move that segment to the very end – after the American Hero – so we could switch?

Well, I'm a Nancy fan.
I found this article about the 9:00 time slot after Nancy Grace. It is a compliment to her ability to draw viewers. (albiet "meany" times)

I know what you mean by the "harsher side"..Sometimes I think it is a bit out of line, but I do laugh when she picks on the panel. I even see them give a grin when she cuts them off.

I do watch Rachael Maddow at 9, but will check out HLN's new gal.

For years I was an ardent loyal fan of Nancy's. Even taking up for her here on this site many times. I can honestly say though I have seen Nancy completely change in the last couple of years. So much so I only watch her show if she is the only one covering a case that I am interested in.

I just do not like a bully. They truly make my skin crawl and IMO that is what Nancy's has become. Her rudeness isn't just for those that make the mistake of appearing on her show about a specific case but I have never seen someone who is supposed to be a Southern lady be so crass and rude to the attorneys or doctors she has on her show.

I am from Nancy's home state. I have seen her long ago in action in the courtroom. The Nancy we see today is no longer that woman who back then astutely realized that she could get much more with honey than vinegar. She charmed her jurors. She was the perfect lady making the jury comfortable with her mannerisms. She wasn't there to blast the doors off the hinges or slamming things around or letting her nostrils flare but she gave off the appearance she was just methodically trying to get justice for the victims and it worked for Nancy many many times.

Nancy seems to have become so entrenched into believing that no other mother on this earth is better than she is. She has the persona that she is above all others and I don't really believe Nancy is as perfect as she tries to paint herself. She too is human and has human frailties and maybe this is why she feels she must raise herself up above others. Of course her nightly callers just adds to it.

There are many many wonderful advocates who advocate for victims. Mark Klaus is one and he does it with grace. He doesn't need to shout to get his story told. He doesn't need to interrupt others to get his point across with voice raised always to a high pitch unless he is trying to get a word in edgewise when he is on Nancy's show.

So I guess I am one of the ones that has fallen out of love and admiration for Nancy. When I do watch I see a woman so filled with herself and she badgers her guests.

If she was in court she would never be allowed to talk to people in this tone so Nancy has long ago forgotten what it means to be in court and how to talk to people.

Excellent post, kanzz! I watch Nancy Grace every night too. However, I don't like when she's rude to anyone who doesn't agree with her. That's extremely unprofessional, and a big turn-off. I also think that she can be over dramatic at times. How can you suddenly switch from tears to smiles in seconds? It comes across as being phony, in my opinion. Is she trying to be an actress?

i watched her routinely till...the middle of the duke players case. after tearing them apart, allowing them to be called rapists on her show, when the evidence came in that basically blew the prosecution out of it....she literally stopped covering it. when it was over, i went back and could find no mention of it until the verdict. so it was wall to wall when she could prosecute..and then 2 months of nothing. i don't think that was right and i lost alot of respect for her . i was one of those that thought they were guilty but i was shown to be wrong. she was not willing to be shown wrong on-air so that is why IM she stopped covering it. can u tell this is a pet peeve of mine? i do respect many things about her...but this was a bully pulpet gone wrong.

am sorry..went a bit off topic and "on-rant". that issue has been discussed thoroughly. i do agree that when she is a bit softer, i like her better.

She is an attorney, don't forget - and trained to defend the victim or the killer with equal vigor.

Well I had never watched her up until a couple of years ago and also noticed a change not so longer after. The grilling doesn't bother me as much as the rudeness to the panel and the professional quests as I think it is obviously stagged for promotion, which is at uncalled for and takes away from the credibility of the show and her. I do however think the show being their still can be good for victims if they would stick to more of the facts and less of the drama which can be ridiculous at times.

It seems Nancy has a problem admitting she was wrong and apologizing for anything. I remember when the Caylee case started she defended Cindy everytime someone said anything against her. I can remember her interrupting Padilla and shutting him up everytime he said something contrary to what Nancy thought about C. Well, to be honest, I felt very bad for cindy too, but it didn't take me long, after the pizza box and deliberately giving the wrong hair brush to authorities to figure her out. And then denying there wasn't a smell in the car. Now, little by little c has shown her true colors and you hardly ever hear Nancy even mention her let alone defend her anymore. Wouldn't it be nice if she could at least admit that now she isn't sure about her opinion of C.
I couldn't agree more that her rudeness to her guest is disgusting. I would love to have seen her in a courtroom because I bet she was the best. She's not in a courtroom now and her guests are not witnesses.
And please someone tell me, where the heck did the phrase 'tot mom' come from? That doesn't even make sense. JMO :glare:

[MY BOLD] - I have no idea. It's not something I had ever heard before she started saying it.

I still remember how she played judge jury in the Cynthia Sommer case. She was so wrong about Cindy.

And wrong about Richard Ricci in the Elizabeth Smart case and wrong about the Duke Lacrosse players.

"Tot Mom" sounds like something you would see splattered across one of the tabloids at the grocery store.

she has been wall to wall m.j. coverage. before his death it was "prosectute totmom" and "where is this beautiful missing child". (my phrasing, not EXACTLY hers). if she cared so much, she would be back on these and other stories ..amber alerts ect. obviously..she...as everyone else, is driven by ratings. but only she says she does this cuz she cares about the cases she is now neglecting. IMO.

Now don't shoot me, but I have a comment about the twins.

Am I the only one that thinks showing photographs of those children is risky? What if someone became oddly attached and tried to snatch em? I swear she showed a photo of one of them in the bath. I would think she would realize that there are some freaks out there that view naked photo's of young children in a manner different than most of us do.

Anyway, sorry for the ramble. My own opinion of course. Be well.

Oh, and who the heck is "Sheba" and why does she always get through the phone lines?

Good question. Sheba sometimes sounds like maybe she's been partying too hard. LOL

High profile kids shouldn't be splashed on TV, the internet, etc. If someone else were to do that and something happened to the kids, NG would be all over it accusing the parent of negligence, I'll betcha.

FWIW, if she insists on publicizing them, I think they should hold the clips of the kids until after the American Hero tribute so the rest of us can tune out if we want to.

This "Sheeba from Illinois" thing has a lot of ppl scratching their heads. She's on nearly every night.

I've always wondered if Sheeba is a relative of NG.

After the Duke players were exonorated, John Stewart really let NG have it.

I seem to remember NG hiding out immediately after the players were exonorated and someone else had to sit in for her.

I appreciate very much the stories she does but the world isn't quite as black-and-white, or as dramatic, as Nancy wishes it were, IMO.
