OK! it is Steven Colbert who declared it..on his show. BUT his show IS being broadcast FROM Iraq in front of and for our soldiers. I highly encourage all to watch ..and you can watch online also. It is in concert with the USO. i dont know about you, but seeing our soldiers get together and laugh just does my heart good. below is a link to the first full episode from last night.

6 years late and over 60 billion dollars more.

This is old news. GWB said this on May 1, 2003.

No, I did not watch any of the show. I was responding to your TITLE.

I realize it was satire, and, like you, I'm for anything that supports our troops; anything to get their minds away from the nightmare they must be living day by day.

That being said, I see no humor in being in an unjust war where over 4000 (and counting) of our troops have been killed, and tens of thousands (and counting) more have been horribly wounded.

We shouldn't have been over there in the first place.

However, I do apologise to you if you feel my post was off topic.

i see good in providing humor and support for those that are there. in addition, mr colbert spent the previous month promoting his trip by raising money for military school children. i believe it was over 100 thousand. yea..i respect your beliefs and share them but think it was not in..keeping with the tone of the thread. sometimes u gotta grab watever silver lining there is, no matter how slim. have a good morning.
btw..the reason he said he thought the war was over ...and that he could declare victory was that he never sees iraq or the men/women on the news any more. which i thought was a GREAT way of getting THAT point across.

OMG, we've been watching this all week, it's the greatest thing ever.
I love the BrooksBrother's suit he had made in 'cammo', and the head shaving, and the kids he had on last night, etc.
This is a wonderful thing to do, and all though it took a year to plan, I hope it sparks back up the USO.
It's edgy and new and right up their alley with it's modern-ness.
I am thrilled he got Clinton, Bush Sr, and Obama on.
He's done a remarkable job and is known for his anger at our having forgotten the troops.
Kudos on a job well done, Steven Col-Bear, of the Ra-Pour.
