Florida, again?????

Just like Fark, InSession could use a Florida category.

At least these sick twists are being charged as adults. They'll be in prison for a long time. I hope, anyway.

I have a son the same age as these kids. I can't imagine something like this. I how the student that was assaulted will be okay.

As far as the students charged I hope they get more than a slap on the hand.

Definitely a slap on the hand would not suffice!

How disgusting and heinous!

He was probably afraid to tell.

How heartbreaking and for him to go through this all alone because he was so humiliated imo and afraid.

If it were up to me, I'd put their little fannies in the general prison population and let them fend for themselves! That'll teach them empathy, if anything...

I'm assuming they let their names and pics be published because, regardless of age, they are sexual predators and others NEED to know who they are for safety reasons. The entire story just makes me sick!

Poor kid.

Let's hope our judicial system doesn't victimize the victim all over again.

Those four tyrants are down right scary

FindtheLost, I do as well and I just can not imagine the pyschological damage that has been done to him.

OMG What is wrong with kids and people in general? Why the need to degrade each other?

This makes me furious!!:cursing:

The no bullying rule is our in Georgia schools and does NO GOOD at all!

The teachers don't want to be bothered. They act as if the child is just being a baby and should get over it. It disgusts me totally. Another reason the school doesn't like to get involved here is the do not want to deal with the parents.

I can certainly see why the child didn't tell. He mostly likely thoght no one would listen and if they did and questioned those bullies he would get into worse trouble with them.

Sickening!!

I bet this boy is not the only victim. Hopefully, if others are also victims, they will now come forward with their stories regarding these bullies and rapists. This is going on much more than we hear about.:cursing:

And perhaps they will be on the receiving end of various objects being introduced into their bodies against their will.

In our school system, the teachers wouldn't know if there was any bullying going on. In what is now the 4th 5th grade center, the playground had an area that was out of sight of the teachers on playground duty. They would stand together (3 of them) where they could see MOST of the playground, but there was a building that jutted out, and the kids who were into bullying knew that was where to do their thing.

There was actually a "no tattling" rule--and the poor child who tried to tell about an incident is the one who got time out. @ least, with time out, they were sitting by the teachers and nothing more could happen to them--for the moment.

When a child arrives @ home w/a torn article of clothing or a bruise, it did no good to go to the school, as they will say (truthfully) that no school personnel observed anything. That being said, we were told to take the issue up with the parent(s) of the other child.

OMG!!! This poor kid. I certainly hope these guys get the maximum sentence and have to live the rest of their lives as registered sex offenders. The victim should receive counseling at the expense of the parents of these bullies. :cursing:

I have a 19 year old daughter who doesn't understand the dangers out there that I want to lock in her room and a 6 year old son who shouldn't even have to understand danger, but will NEED to because it's become dangerous to simply go to school. UGH, society is getting way too scary for me.

Lots of people witnessed this, and knew about it, and did nothing? Were they that afraid of these boys? That's the only thing I can think of.

That is what is sooooo sickening.

From your link:

Several students witnessed the incidents over the two months, said the prosecutor, who added that she could not understand why no one reported the attacks.

I don't think they were afraid. I think they just didn't care.

What in the world is happening to some of our children's consciences?

While the internet and the news, and all this means we hear a lot about violent crimes - the reality is that the rates are all going down, have been for a long time.

This is one incident at one school, out of the tens of thousands in the United States, and out of the huge number of kids out there.

Your kids should understand both sides - that there is danger - but to keep from having them terrified to live, they need to also know that most people are good people.

How far back does the latest stats go back to? Doesn't it even take them a year or more to compile the yearly information?

Wasn't there an escalation in violent juvenile crime even though the overall crime rate had dropped? IIRC it was about a 3% increase and that is pretty substantial imo. I remember CNN had a piece on it last year talking about it had risen for that particular group.

imo

Here's hoping that all 4 perpetrators will be branded as sex offenders for the rest of their lives. Sorry if you think that sounds vicious. But these attacks were not a result of a night of drinking and one rape - they were perpetrated over two months.

Blessings to the victim - here's hoping that he finds a way to mentally and emotionally deal with this.

ITA!

They not only tortured this boy's body they tortured his very being. Even if by the grace of God he is healed his life is changed forevermore.

imoI'm talking about the stats over the last decades. Yes, it takes a year or so to get them - but when people are feeling like crime is rising so very much - that's what it is - a feeling - reality is that crime is dropping. The amount of crime we are told about is rising near exponentially - go back some decades, and you hear only about what happens in your town, then in your state, then in the nation - now you hear every little bit, on the internet, with news sites competing to bring the most outrageous stories to light - because outrage equals clicks, which equals money!

Society isn't getting worse - it's getting better. And a lot of the crimes of today wouldn't even be reported or considered crimes a few decades ago, even sometimes a few years ago. Rape used to be the fault of the victim (unless she was a nun), marital rape, marital abuse - not a crime, kids beating each other up - just what kids do.

I just think it's a natural failing in people - what we hear about colors how we see things - we don't look at how common or rare things really are.

Imagine if you were introduced to another person by telling them only, and as slantedly as possible, every bad, selfish, mean, or neglectful thing you've ever done in your life. That person will think you are horrible! And they'll be basing that on facts, real stories. That's what the news does to us - they bring up every negative story there is, pulling them from ever further away, slanting them when they can to make them sound even worse than they are (this story doesn't need that) - naturally, that tends to make people feel like the whole world is evil. When it isn't - this is just a collection of the worst stories in the entire world, out of millions and billions of good people that do not get mentioned.
