This is one of the most horrific stories I've heard in a long time.

On HLN they said the children were as young as 2 years old. Among the suspects, a retired school teacher, IT professor.....this is beyond evil.

The sad part is they don't know who these children are. I am disgusted that so many children had to suffer in the hands of these monsters. When will it end??

"These images are not just images of children without clothes," Judd said. "These images are horrific displays of children being forced to expose their genitals, forced to perform sexual acts - images of children being raped."

No less than seven years? Gee..that makes me feel safe..with children or grandchildren. AT least it's seven, I suppose?

Gosh..gosh gosh..and worse language...

How can they apprehend 39 or so of 45? and say seven years at the least? How about the Most they can get in time behind bars?

Some people say..yes I've heard them say it..that theses "people" just like to Look..sell...etc. That they wouldn't "touch a child". Really? They are touching them through their sick perverted minds...and the one had/has children living in his - his house where he'd watch/trade these things? Makes my skin crawl. They should be locked in a cell and never let out...I wonder if incarceration won't turn them into more "evil"?..deprived of their deprication and jollies...will they go after "them" when they get out? i.e. take it to that further level?

sick sick sick...

I wonder if any of those children are some of our missing children and this is what's happening to them.

makes my skin crawl....I do think it is great that they put these "pigs" pictures and names in the paper...they announce who they are...gives the community a chance to know who the predators are ...in Canada ...we protect these "pigs"...I say tattoo their foreheads....."beware...I am a child predator".

This is horrible.

Legal question, is a person who has been found guilty of downloading child pornography put into the the sex offenders registry data base?

Those poor defensless children. No one derserves that. I am thankful they were apprehended, it's a sad thing but we basically know that child porn trafickers use the internet, for child pornorgraphic material, and it's just a matter of time before they are caught. I am still horrified over teh statistic that myspace, com had over 90,000 registered sex offenders.

The control over a child is one of the worst type of sex offenders.

Yes, they can be. A few months ago, a man who used to be a reporter for a news station, then went to work for DCF, plead guilty to child porn. Was sentenced to x amount of time and required to register as a SO upon release. Guess it all depends on the Judge.

To me the scary thing about someone seizing your computer and finding porn on there is that if you are not computer savvy, you can end up with links to really questionable stuff. When I first got my computer 6/7 years ago and did not know how to set the filters and blocks, I was ending up at all sorts of nasty places. I would try to close windows and even more, nastier stuff would pop up. I had to get someone I trusted to help me set up blocks and filters. Now I cannot remember the last time something nasty showed up.
Now this is obviously no explanation for someone who has hundreds of porn images but I was really scared! At the time, I worked for Family Services and I was having nightmares about it. :w00t:

Thank you, msgatorslayer. I think it should be mandatory upon conviction.

Same thing happened to me, withay. I think the difference is these people had this stuff downloaded on their computer. It wasn't just about sites they had visited or pop ups.

I look things up all the time. In fact, this arrest we're posting about got me thinking and I started searching about pedophilia, online crimes, etc. If someone were to come and look at my search history tonight they'd probably run out terrified.

or just a permanent giant P on their forehead as they are released. IMO

From the little I have read, the ones charged/arrested were charged with possession & distribution only. So they were not the ones who produced the videos.

Horrifying to realize that it only took a 4-month investigation to charge 45 individuals with possession & distribution - & that was just one county. I can't imagine the number who would be charged/arrested if every county in every state conducted a similar, focused investigation. I doubt Winter Haven, Florida is unique for having that many people downloading & distributing child porn.

That happened to me too withay, when I first had my computer. I was googling around and landed on a porn site. They won't let you get away from them. It was disgusting. I think I had to end up doing a hard shutoff.

The op's link says there has to be a certain volume of material downloaded though.

I don't know how any adult can let their minds go to the dark place like this. It's from the bowels of the devil in my opinion. I only wish they had more law enforcement, time and money to track the monsters. I'd have nothing against a giant P tattoo'd on their foreheads so all of society can know who they are. How can they be so wicked.

I used to be a type of net nanny in the early days of the net. Volunteers. We had some great programmers but the child porn addicts were sharp at blocking us out and disarming us. They go to great lengths not to be found out and identified. There are actually programming wars.

n/t Sadly I do think this is what happens to some missing children.

These guys didn't do the harming, did they??They created the market for those who made the pics/videos. Effectively they caused it, IMO. But directly, sounds like they didn't - that we know of yet.

The op's link says there has to be a certain volume of material downloaded though.Computer tech's can tell the difference between what is merely in your cache, and what is deliberately downloaded, worse yet, uploaded and shared with others, routinely viewed.

Don't worry - even if you got caught with it in your cache, you could tell the truth about how it happened, and they could tell if it was the truth or not.
