They might not even be close to knowing what or who happened to her.

Daddy George SO was with someone young, but Roy Smith raped a woman, not a child. So maybe thats why he isn't as interesting to the cops.

yeah true..never thought of that..as far as the boys just wondered how they knew who was there that day..guess maybe someone knew them and told the cops they may want to ask them if they saw anyone around..the one boy said him and his brother played basketball with her all the time maybe it was at the school since it is very close..

yeah he was arrested on unrelated charges as of now his last name is Easter he knew someone at the apartments and LE had spoke with him and he was dropped off at 5am and within 15 minutes he was burning stuff so it sent red flags so not sure if they have anything else on him as of now.

Police searched the Easter's home Sunday and dug up the back yard of his property after receiving a tip. Boxes of evidence were taken from Easter's home to the Michigan State Crime Lab.

Neighbors said Easter mows lawns and performs odd jobs throughout the area.

"I didn't know what to think when I heard he was in custody," said neighbor Donna Werner, 51. "He's always helped me out and was always kind to me."

Werner said Easter allowed her to use his stove to cook on, and his washing machine to do her laundry when her electricity was shut off. "I think they've got the wrong man," she said.

Easter was arraigned Sunday afternoon and was remanded to the Monroe County Jail after failing to post a $250 bond.

They probably aren't involved but I do think two boys could move her body. They could also get her to go with them some other place too.

What bothers me about these searches in some of these cases is they search and search and then later the body, remains or skeleton is found right around where they had already searched.

Really trying to find a tiny 5 year old child's body is like looking for a needle in a haystack and many times someone stumbles across it later like a camper, hunter, fisherman or like in the Anthony case, the meter man, etc.

If I learned anything from Sandra Cantu's murder it's that I won't assume anything again. I was completely convinced her killer was a man.

All the rest of my guesses were right on the money but to find out it was a woman just dropped me to my knees.

I'll tell you what with these violent video games these days I honestly think kids ages 6-12 simply don't have the cognitive reasoning to understand that when they kill someone it's permanent. They can't re-set the game and start over.

These two boys could have EASILY lured her off into the weeds and hit her over the head or strangled her.

I am AMAZED at the parents right here in our little town that I love and respect and think they are good parents and they are allowing their young children to watch movies like "Saw" and play video games that are just horrific.

Kathy I don't know that these kids had anything to do with it just wanted to talk to them to see if they saw anything..but you are right it is very hard to get some cases out of your mind because for one when they said they were looking for 2 boys I thought OMG no way..mainly because I had just watched a doc about a 8 yr old killing a 5yr old and hiding the body so it was very fresh in my mind and even LE could not believe a child could do all that ..this case has haunted me for many years what these girls did to Shanda plus I had just become a mother when it happened and it was very close to me..anyway my point is just like yours many kids do kill but don't think these 2 boys were guilty of anything

Is it not against the law to burn in city limits with out approval I know it is here..but just in my case when I lived in the country I would go out around that time and burn trash before I had to get the boys up for school...So he is not a POI anymore..I see so guess they found nothing in his home..thanks God he wasn't a RSO I would have lost it

What about the rights of the victims, when will it just be lets tell the truth because it is the right thing to do for the victim. This applies in so many cases being followed here on insession.

Good morning! it is unbelievable how they can vanish into thin ari, I mean, these are living breathing human beings, they did say on tv last night that both the mother and the alledged BF took and failed polygraphs, so why are they seemingly looking somewhere else?

The fact that they failed polygraphs means that they have lied or were deceptive about one or more questions on the test. It might have had to do with their relationship or the fact that they were hiding something more sinister.

I thought the exact same thing! Why does the mother care if her boyfriend and that other guy are going to be upset with her.
I've been suspicious of the mother. Last I seen her on tv, she just seem a bit too calm for me. Plus the fact that she didn't pass the lie detector.

I ran up to the ATM yesterday, which is in a strip mall about 2 minutes from my house and on all the store windows they have fliers up with Nevaeh photos. I live about 15-20 minutes from Monroe. So sad!! I hope they can finder her soon.

Police are now looking to question the occupants of a silver van in addition to a green van at a Monroe school in the continuing search for Nevaeh Buchanan.
At a press briefing late this morning, Monroe County Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield said the task force has received numerous tips regarding a green box-style van that was in the area of Hollywood Elementary School, which is near the apartment complex where the 5-year-old girl was last seen nine days ago.
Police are also hoping to question as witnesses a mother and two small children who were in a silver mini van at the school between 6 and 7 p.m. on that Sunday, which was May 24.
Investigators also questioned the driver of an ice cream truck that in the vicinity, but Sheriff Crutchfield declined to reveal any details of what was learned.

Also, provided what the searcher said is true, why wouldn't LE release everything they know about the green van? How would taht tipp off the wrong person, and how are they going to locate it if they are not releasing all the details they have? You would think the mother from the silver van they are looking for, as well as people from the green van, would have come forward on their own, knowing a little girl is missing and they were in the vicinity. With so much publicity, at least locally, they have to know about Nevaeh. As for people not coming forward, I just think these people might not be aware they are being looked for. So many people don't pay the slightest bit of attention to the news. They might know Neveah is missing, but if they didn't notice her anything strange that day they might not have a clue they are being looked for as a potential witness.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't' heard a lot of this case but I'm watching TV now---JVM--- and they are talking about Nevaeh. The very first thing I noticed is what her name is if you spell it backward. For some reason I am getting an eerie feeling and a chill since the green van was seen parked on the playground which is right by the apartments.

We have heard of little children being snatched into vans or vehicles and wound up being raped and murdered by the one who snatched them.

Pat Brown has said many times over the years it only takes a few second to nab a small child and drive off.

I cant understand why the owner hasn't contacted police by now. Surely if they were on the playground they are from around there.

I was watching Nevaeh's uncle on TV talking about how the family tried to talk to her mother about GK. He expressed concern and said they couldn't get through to her. Okey, my thoughts.....His mother has custody. She was able to let the girl live with her mother as long as she approved. That is the duty of the custodian. If they were concerned so much, all the mother had to do was take the child herself. No fuss, no court, just a custodian making a good decision in the best interest of the child.That would have been her duty as well, if she was worried about the environment the child was in.
I get so angry when I look at it like that. As though it would have been sooo simple. It is so sad that I hope I am not babbling.

I haven't paid much attention to this case, I mistakenly assumed that when I heard the mother had an SO for a boyfriend that it was him the case would be wrapped up quickly. Guess I was wrong!

I'm reading NG from yesterday right now and I just cannot believe this mother, she didn't want to be judgemental ? That is what parent's do! That is what single mothers and father have to be, they have to be judgemental of anyone entering their kids lives! And what a crock of crap to say SO's don't recommit or not all do. I've never heard of any SO caught that hasn't had a history of it, or a first timer(caught that is) who doesn't go on to repeat. She put her own pleasures first and that is just sickening. I really cannot understand oman who knowingly date or are involved with men like this. They don't change, they usually just get better at hiding it.

I agree with you. IMO' The grandma should be held accountable, along with JB. I'm just wondering here if Child Protective Services were ever involved? I'm thinking CPS was and they too have dropped the ball when it comes to Nevaeh.
Wondering if any type of child welfare check had been done? Anytime a parent or custodian has guardianship and they let a known pedophile around a child is wrong.
I know there is allot of what if's in this case!!! But it's just a sad state of affair when things should have been done to help prevent this abduction.IMO

I think the fact that the mother failed a polygraph test is highly suspicious. Do we know if there are any witnesses who saw this little girl on her scooter? Or are LE just taking the mother's word? It is possible the scooter was planted..... Maybe something happened to her long before the scooter was "found" by the mother. Monroe -- Investigators are offering $20,000 reward for information that could pinpoint the location of 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan, who has been missing for 10 days.

A 100-person Task Force continues to look for two vans that were in the Hollywood Elementary School parking lot on May 24 between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., when Nevaeh went missing.

Authorities hope the people associated with both vans might be able to offer crucial information that could help find Nevaeh.

Her uncle Mike Buchanan and her cousin Shaun Lawson have both said on camera in news interviews that they tried to persuade Jennifer not to be with George, but "she is a grown woman and makes her own choices".

I just makes me crazy when this could have been prevented. Watch your children....how hard is that? Five IS just a baby as someone else said. It would be an strange twist if she was taken by a SO when she practically lived with one. I think the mother is either covering for the boyfriend or did something to her. I think the fact that the mother failed a polygraph test is highly suspicious. Do we know if there are any witnesses who saw this little girl on her scooter? Or are LE just taking the mother's word? It is possible the scooter was planted..... Maybe something happened to her long before the scooter was "found" by the mother. I truly hope not, but the mother and her SO "friend" may have been in cahoots......

Hi, jomomma! :smile: Thanks for sharing those photos with us. They are very disturbing. Nevaeh never had a chance with an idiot like that for a mother. I think the mother knows exactly what happened to Nevaeh. You don't fail a polygraph test due to lack of sleep. That's a crock of you know what, and anyone with sense would not believe her. no Book but do know they ask in the start for anyone who may have seen anything around the hours of 5pm to 11pm to call..why those hours seemed very odd IMO..and as I watched NG tonight mom seems to be the only one who is giving the timeline if true mom said she waited ABOUT 45 minutes to call 911 she was looking for her..but that time does not hold up if you go by the time they arrived and she said she went missing I thought it was 8 something that 911 was called but seems someone can not get it right..when was the Amber Alert put out maybe that is what the 9:30 is:confused:

I saw those the grandma showed them in a media interview the one did creep me out but then grandma and if you seen it she did not even call JB mom she called her grandma mom according to her statement but not so sure the one was not a pic of JB and the other one did not even have JB on it shows you she really had no relationship with her bio-mom as far as her booking photo I am not sure could be a sweatshirt or a STRAIGHT JACKET I have watched NG and glad to see they are giving her airtime Mark Klass tonight told the father to not give up that coming out of his mouth and NG not blasting him I am wondering if they have seen perhaps she should have been in his custody cause them 2 do not give anyone slack if they feel they are wrong I think anyone who knows NG and MK they say it how it is and she will find out the truth he has not been in trouble and the mother went to the slammer if he was fit to have her he should have had full custody not JB or grandma who failed to protect her..and believe me I am not a supporter of someone not paying support I have never got a penny in 18years but money does not protect a child and JB was not working anyway so if anyone should be paying support it should be both she has been in trouble since 2006 because of a drug problem and had home invasion charges and was released in Jan 2009 she was not much of a parent IMO either..:biggrin:

I'm with you there Grammie. I check that site several times a day for updates. Yesterday they started bickering but most of the time they have been organizing donations, flyers, etc. I've really been impressed with the spirit of some of them.

MONROE — After getting a phone call from distraught Jennifer Buchanan telling him that her daughter, Nevaeh, was missing, George Kennedy said he immediately went to the girl's North Macomb Street neighborhood to look for the 5-year-old.

Kennedy, 39, who was taken into custody on unrelated charges the night Nevaeh disappeared, told The Blade Wednesday that he drove with his girlfriend, Savannah Gray, to the child's preschool on Riverview Avenue, near her home in Charlotte Arms apartments, and then went to Greenwood Apartments to continue the search.

'I figured maybe she was back there playing. Savannah went one way and I went another way,' said Kennedy, who has been locked up on an unrelated parole violation in the Monroe County jail since May 24, when Nevaeh went missing. '"We went to certain areas that I thought she could be."

After a security guard told him that police had been at the apartments looking for her, Kennedy said Nevaeh's mother reached him on his cell phone to tell him that sheriff's deputies wanted to talk to him about the missing girl because they learned he was a convicted sex offender.

In an exclusive interview with The Blade, Kennedy said he wasted no time in returning to his Motel 7 room on South Dixie Highway, where he met his parole officer and sheriff's detectives, who put him in handcuffs and took him to the jail.

"I didn't take her and I definitely didn't kill her," he said.

"I am 39 years old. I don't want to grow old by myself. I just want a companion and to be happy. If they got a kid, I don't have a problem with that and helping them raise kids. I ain't preying on women to be with their kids," he said.

"I was a father figure to that little girl," he said. "Because I am a sex offender it doesn't mean I have to bury myself under a rock. I have no regrets about knowing Nevaeh, her mother, or grandmother. I care about them a lot."

"They didn't want me talking to anybody. They had me locked down in a room for over a week," he said. "They wouldn't let me out for my own safety because everyone in the county wants to hurt me and crucify me."

Investigators searched Kennedy's motel room after a 5-year-old playmate said she witnessed Nevaeh being stabbed with a knife after going "into the woods ... to meet Daddy George" and an 8-year-old neighbor boy who said the girl was kidnapped by a "bad man" and stabbed.

"She wasn't going to go into the woods for anybody. I just don't see her doing that at all," he said.

Kennedy said there was blood in the motel room because he cut himself shaving and blood was left in the room after his girlfriend, Ms. Gray, bled after getting a tattoo. He said that he cut himself with the multiknife while fishing several days before Nevaeh vanished and may have left blood on it.

The family mentioned to the mother that she should not be seeing him... they knew he was a REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER didn't they realize that it was most likely ILLEGAL for him to be with her too??? If you can't get through to mommy, call the cops. He's a RSO for a reason..... be more diligent in protecting your family.

You know I have a 5 & 7 year old who play outside on their own all the time, but I always knows where they are and who is outside with them and despite my not watching them 24/7... neither are missing. Because I do pay attention to them, their surroundings and who is with them! It's called parenting.

Sorry it took so long to get back to the question, but Tonya Revels is the 24-yr old woman who pays the $600/month rent for George Kennedy to stay at Motel 7 in Monroe. (Well, used to since he's headed back to prison now.)

Jennifer Buchanan, 24, had or has (no clue except the gossip) a drug problem and was breaking into homes to support it. Got in trouble in 2006. Went to jail for 11 months of a 2-yr sentence. She got out in January.

During that time, Grandma Sherry Buchanan had custody of Nevaeh. When Jennifer got out of jail, she went to live with her Mom and Nevaeh. Had no job. Grandma did, and was at work at the time Nevaeh disappeared.

Father, Shane Hinojosa, 22, (never married but now has another son and pregnant fiance), lives near Toledo, owes back child support for Nevaeh and has not seen the girl for 3 years.

Wow, he sure is a ladies man - he is a "father figure" to one woman's child, another woman pays his rent (it's been posted here, but I am not sure where that info comes from), and yet his GF is Savannah Gray, a third one.

He met JB at a parole office, he met Smith at a sex-offender counseling class, and his alibi is taking his friends to see another "friend" who is locked up.

During that time, Grandma Sherry Buchanan had custody of Nevaeh. When Jennifer got out of jail, she went to live with her Mom and Nevaeh. Had no job. Grandma did, and was at work at the time Nevaeh disappeared.

Father, Shane Hinojosa, 22, (never married but now has another son and pregnant fiance), lives near Toledo, owes back child support for Nevaeh and has not seen the girl for 3 years.

I hope LE is looking at lots of other possible leads rather than the SO's. It is easy to lump them all in together but they do have different preferences and just as you cant change an SO's preference for children of whatever age and sex, they are just like any group of people with a sexual preference. just like we heterosexuals have different "types" we prefer--small petite, big and beautiful, older men or younger men - so do SO's. Many a set of serial murders have been discovered as such because of the commonalities of the victims in looks, type, age etc. along with other crime scene info.

Not a hard and fast rule but because of it GK would be a "rule him out so we can start really looking for the perp" type. I bet these STUPID women don't even think of him as a sex offender in reality but believe that "these girls wanted it, came on to him and lied so the parents wouldn't find out". Especially in the case of the 13 and 15 yr old but also the 11 yr old. IMO they mean it when they say he would never hurt a child bc they don't think he ever did :mad:

It has a lot to do with educational and social background imo. these women just dont get it, obviously. It is why neveah's mom still defends GK and having him in her life, doesn't even try to pretend that it is a bad idea. She is 24 but talks like a very stupid 15 year old, just the sort GK likes.

My husband use to be a tattoo artist and yes you do bleed from getting a tattoo- depends on where it is how much. For most it is just when the ink is applied (an oozing sort of)and it doesn't keep bleeding (the artists wipes the blood as they go a long image.) But some people are just bleeders and bleeding is the reason that reputable shops don't allow you to have work done if you are drinking.

Point is Yes you bleed when getting a tattoo but certainly not enough to leave blood anywhere but on the tools and materials used to do the tattoo... (you wouldn't be dripping blood around the room)

I am listening to Mark Klaas and his suggestion is ankle bracelets for tracking the pedophiles. This is the first time I have ever disagreed with him. I want them removed from the face of this earth. There is too, too, too much of this crap. I am a grandmother who lives in a rather quiet area. The school my grandson attends requires every child be accompanied by someone who is on a written list filed at the school. This is the same school my children attended and we never would have dreamed it would come to this. My kids would check in after school, have a snack and go play with friends until dinner time. We never had to worry about sexual predators. It seems now there are more of them than there are of us. An exaggeration, I know. But, my God, this has got to come to a screaming halt. I fully intend to find enough support for this legislation and I will be visiting our state governor. It may not go anywhere, but I will know I gave it my best shot. Family confirms body found is Nevaeh

RAISINVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A body found today at the River Raisin in Raisinville Township has been confirmed as the missing 5-year-old Nevaeh Buchanan of Monroe.

Police officers have spoken to the family, and a relative has confirmed to The Monroe Evening News that the child found was Nevaeh.

"That baby was innocent," her grandmother, Sherry Buchanan, said. "I want capital punishment."

I would think a cement block would be too heavy for just one person to move and put in the river. Anyone else think that there was more than one person involved?

I do not think the block floated to the top. It was probably dumped in the river along the bank, in a shallow enough place for the searchers to catch a glimpse.

As I heard it a man and his son were fishing and saw the cement block. The father chipped away somne of the cement and saw some skin. Then they called the authorities. Possibly the cement had to be removed before they let the media know. OMG how sick is this posting??!?!? Animals wouldn't do this to their young. What happened to human beings? :cursing: :mad:

Toledo 11 Channel News just showed a minister talking to a group of people and said the sherrif claims they are 99% sure this is Nevaeh. Also, that the family is to join them soon at this gathering.

OK...I find it highly unusual that if the body was encased in cement that it would have floated to the surface.

i thought i might've heard that it was on the bank? that would've sank!
unless, it was in the water but didn't roll all the way into the river and got stuck on the bank? i don't know

makes sense now we have the news about her being encased in cement. It must have taken a few hours to remove enough cement to see enough without harming any evidence :(

Pretty well encased if it took the teens dad to scrape away enough to see skin.

Indirectly I believe she does. She might not have murdered Nevaeh, but allowing her SO friend and whoever he might know access to her makes her guilty of child neglect to say the least. :angry: MOO

It might not have been mixed right or when the body expanded it broke some of the concrete off and allowed it to float to the top. Or maybe whoever put it there could not get it in deep enough water to sink it all the way.

My Lord..yet another "Innocent" child!! Is it just me or are these horrific things becoming just so common place in the past few years??? I agree with some of the sentiments about having more monitoring a SO's but This whole stoy line just eats at my heart..I just never thought of this kind of stuff when I raised my boyz..although was nosey and had to know where they were and who they were with at all times..(maybe I was ahead of the curve..maybe because of my profession?/) Anyway..given what we have seen..and save a few aberrant cases..it seems to always come back to either the family or links to them..somehow...This mother needs to be given some sort of punishment.. even if her "Friend' had nothing to do with this..It's called risk factors..how would she know if he didnt have an acquaintance he spoke to about this little one??..It's a NETWORK with these sicko's!!

I am just as angry as most here..but right now my heart is broken!!

Could the "cement block" have been an actual cement block used in building and not something poured and set? I'm thinking there wasn't enough time to allow wet cement to set before putting it in the river? Also, it would be easier to tie a cement block to a body and put that in the river.
