I don't have a link yet but the state of Nevada just passed a law that it is now illegal to keep a dog chained up longer than 14 hours straight.
Other Nevada news... chester (the molester) stiles got sentenced to 21 life terms!!! he will NEVER hurt another Child!!!

Thats a good thing. I only wish it was "not chained up at all". What do they consider "chained up" I wonder? I am anxious to get the link now! :o)

In Oak Ridge, TN the chained/tied up limit is eight hours. LE/Animal control were very vigilant about that. In the nearby backwards county where I now live, I see dogs on chains 24/7. It makes me so sad. I don't know which is worse: The chained dogs, or those who are malnourished and allowed to roam the streets exposed to the danger of being hit by a car. I think the ones who are malnourished AND chained are the most sad. Sometimes I can sneak them some treats.

This abuse should be reported ASAP. Can't LE/Animal Control do anything about the "chained and malnurished" dogs?

They tried to pass a bill here in March that a dog could not be tethered or on a chain longer then three hours. It got pulled "before the scheduled hearing and is now dead for this session".

I'm pleased to know Nevada has taken measures to stop this cruelty. I think the number of hours is much too long but it's a start.

Dang it, I still can't find a link but I heard it twice on the news last night. One channel for sure was KUUV (fox5vegas.com) because I had it set to auto turn for AMW & the LV news comes on afterwards.
Tally, I am so sorry about your Baby.
In 2 weeks it will be 3 years since Miss Della Mae passed & my eyes leak just typing this. Hardly a day goes by I don't stop to be with her at her grave which is now the prettiest spot on the property.
Hugs

This abuse should be reported ASAP. Can't LE/Animal Control do anything about the "chained and malnurished" dogs?We call Animal Control all the time. The AC officer gives warnings. The humans comply for a while. Yesterday, we bought a big bag of good dog food and took it to the neighbors. They have two dogs who are tied up too much. You can see their ribs. My husband took the bag of food over to them and told them that I had bought the wrong kind...we have to have weight management. They were grateful. I think they were only feeding the dogs whatever table scraps they had. I'm pretty sure that they knew that our buying of the food wasn't a mistake, but we all played the scenario out. It soothed my soul to see the doggies gobble their food with such gusto.
