Isn't it great to see so many of us who posted together during the first trial here today? Where's FloA?

Its been a long couple of years and have stayed in touch with this case by reading Sprockets amazing blog,Trials & Tribulations.
Does anyone know if Sprocket will be blogging or twittering or whatever? I cant believe no outlet will be showing this by live feed. Grr...
Hi Thisbe!

I'm sure you've gotten an answer already... Sprocket is there and hoping to win a seat in the lottery... Got my fingers crossed!

Hello to everyone else too... The long awaited day has finally come and we'll know soon how long Phil has to wait before he can hope for a parole hearing!

Hi Lucky... It's 10:34am here in California... The hearing is supposed to start at 11am... I'm sure they'll start letting people in the courtroom soon.

Sprocket says there is a pool camera there, but they will not be streaming it.. I am guessing that all we'll get to see are short little video clips here and there... **sigh**

She was mentioned earlier.

"Number one fan, she is nervously pacing by the ladies room"

Who is his number one fan other than spectorfan8?

I believe Sprocket's referring to the woman she described at 9:07 am this morning:

"In the lobby I saw a young woman wearing a "Team Spector" button with a woman friend who is wearing a "back to mono" button. Right now she is sitting directly across from me in the hall. The "Team Spector" bottle blond fan is a study in color. She is wearing a blue gray print dress with a gray sweater, wide black belt, Pippi Longstocking knee-high, black and gray striped socks with open-toed blue suede heels as well as carring a large hot pink plastic purse."

Ellie
05-29-2009, 02:40 PM
Yeah, there's a reliable source for you! Now, Officer Beatrice Rodriguez said this in a sworn statement on 2/03/03:

I then proceded to clear the lower level of the west wing of the residence. As I proceded to do so, I heard Spector yelling, "What's wrong with you guys? What are you doing?" As I continued with my search, again I heard Spector yell, "I didn't mean to shoot her. It was an accident." "I have an explanation for this."

From the document entitled:

Post arrest statements attached to Notice of motion and motion to exclude post-arest statements of defendant; memorandum of points and authorities
http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org/court...-03%2009:48

THIS...all by itself... aside from the mountains of other evidence pointing to Phil Spector's guilt, is what sealed the deal for me. I have referred to this document a hundred times in my posts here... but it's always good to see it again.

I don't believe he did it either. Here's what Mr Spector's bodyguards said yesterday

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/entertainment&id=6837219

Here's what convicted murderer Phil Spector said not long after he shot and killed Lana Clarkson...

"I didn't mean to shoot her. It was an accident." "I have an explanation for this."

Turns out he had no explanation whatsoever.

Alas Ellie, no live stream or reporting unless TruTV pulls a last minute surprise. They would have a final hour of their broadcast (Banfield/Ford) to do it. (11am)

MSM hasn't shown much interest in this 2nd trial.

I did try with letters.

T/T will be trying to be seated as well as reportedly, Jayne who was planning on attending. Haven't heard from My-2-cents lately. Expect Harriet Ryan to be there.

HNN has been running a 30-second synopsis this morning.

bearwds

Hi There . . . NO, sorry, but I won't be at the courthouse today for sentencing. I have been MIA for the past few months. I was caring for my Mom who was battling cancer. She lost that battle and passed away this month - her service was 2 weeks ago today. So I have not been able or interested in trekking down to Rm 106 for the media circus that is surely taking place down there right now. Although I am very interested in knowing from others, what takes place today in court.

Hopefully Sprocket will get in - as we know she will be very detailed with her feedback. If not, her friends that do get in OR at the very least, her good rapport with Truc Do & AJ will get her the details, afterwards, that we are hoping to hear. I am betting though, she'll get a seat for sure - the courtroom gals there are very supportive of her and her everyday attendance of the trial - I am sure they'll give her a seat if there's room, without Sprocket having to rely on her "red ticket" getting randomly pulled - and that is probably a very fair decision, IMO.

Louis and Frieda are also there today - Hopefully Louis will pop in at InSession later on and make a post . . . although this must be a very difficult time for him, regardless of his relationship with his Dad - - he is obviously a very concerned son (he can't help it if his Dad committed this horribile act - but he still cares for his Dad) and I can only imagine that it would be very upsetting to see a loved one sentenced for a murder - so understandable, he may be in no mood to post on this forum, following this afternoon's proceedings.

And hopefully Jayne, our wonderful IS poster and talented lawyer will make it to the courtroom and INSIDE as well - IF SO . . .we know she will provide GREAT FEEDBACK and INSIGHT to today's happenings down there. I HOPE YOU'RE THERE TODAY JAYNE AND THAT YOU GET IN.

The "live" courtroom is a very interesting opportunity and experience and I recommend it to all of you "trial/crime followers", regardless of whether its the Spector trial or some other case. I personally found it so interesting, viewing the proceedings in person. I highly recommend it - at least once.

I don't see prison being more pleasant, but it suits me that he's off. Once they get him in there and evaluate all of the drugs he takes, he won't be allowed to spend his days drugged to the nines. He isn't going to be a happy camper. Which is what he deserves.

Yes, although there was transmission problems at the beginning, I did not see Spector even look back at his wife. If he did on arrival, I missed it.

Now, Riordan takes over -- he is THE appellate specialist.

I'm guessing Spector, according to Weinberg's 'forthwith' request, is anxious to get out of county jail where he knows and likely been treated as what he is....just a temporary number. Spector's next move, probably with Weinberg and Riordan help, is to seek out the 'easiest digs' for his next 19 years--the big emphasis of having Spector's medical records travel with him.

That is why, IMO, Weinberg really, really wanted that gun enhancement to be only 3 years. Thank goodness, Mr. Jackson was ready with excellent arguments to add 4 years on the gun enhancement.

.... Wait... didn't they say he had that done at the start of the 2nd trial, thus a week or 2 long delay? I wonder if they said he had it done again to try and delay sentencing, but that wouldn't make sense based on them wanting him moved STAT. Huh, dunno....

He looked pretty much the same as always, albeit a bit more pale maybe. While they were going over everything I thought he seemed pretty alert... it wasn't until when JF handed down the sentence that Phil's eyes started to close, etc. (Did anyone else notice that every time he blinked his cheek would kind of twitch? Strange.) I just can't help but wonder what's going through his mind... I wondered if, while watching him just now, he thought at all about that night and what happened... if Lana even crossed his mind...

Well, this is closure I guess. I am not sure of this but he was in jail and would have been taken to UCLA for the surgery then back to the jail. He wouldn't have been going back to UCLA from the sentencing and followup care would not consist of much in a jail.

Regarding Mr. Jackson's excellent arguments for the 4 year gun enhancement in response to Weinberg's almost desperate attempt to get only 3:

One point Mr. Jackson made was the 5 women witnesses/victims whose horrific experiences at the hands of Spector PLUS Lana there were 11 additional documented cases that the State had identified and Spector's threats with guns go back 40 years.

It was wonderful to share this day of justice with so many old friends. As horribly long as it seemed to us, can we imagine the wait it was for Donna and Fawn Clarkson. Finally today, Lana's mother got to speak about the real woman. The truth prevailed today.

For Lana :rose:

Yes, finally after the he!! that family has been through because of PS, they have some measure of justice.

This could have been over so long ago. So much money and time has been wasted. I wonder how long before we see books from the jurors on this.
I wonder what is Rachelle going to do. Well she did put herself in this matter.
Sounds like Judge Fidler was not very harsh on PS. I guess I looking forward to a stern lecture.

Since the sound was cutting in and out, I'm not sure on this, but it's what I think I heard...

Before pronouncing sentence, I thought I heard JF say he had received a letter from someone with the last name of Lozzi (didn't catch the first name) and asked the attys if they wanted to read it. Neither of them had any interest in reading it.

The name seems familiar... does anyone know who this might be?

If it is the same man,You can find him on utube, if you search his name Edward Lozzi

He was a friend of Lana's and I believe but don't quote me a publicist or something like that. He spoke up on a few interviews back when and also mentioned her on his site someone had connected us up with sometime ago.

You can bet on it! Spector will claim he cannot eat the 'regular' bologna served in prisons because it contains pork. IMO, there are definite reasons for Spector's very recent claim of needing a yarmulka. I believe Spector (with Weinberg's assistance) will need lots of special treatment and exemption from regular rules due to his being Jewish; a kosher diet is just the first. [JMO * Themis]

Right, and prison is not intended to bear any resemblance to a 'hotel or private hospital.'
But facilities vary a great deal within California's prison system. One example is the Protective Housing Unit (PHU) at Corcoran Prison.

Inmates can have a radio and a television in their cell and nightlights are allowed.
They can use the day room to read, play chess or watch television. The exercise yard is available for about 5½ hours a day. There’s a basketball court and a bar for chin-ups, but no free weights. Residents can shower daily. They have access to a law library and may receive weekend visitors for as long as five hours a day. They share one telephone and make calls during certain hours. By 8:45 p.m., they must be back in their cells, but there’s no official “lights out” time.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/ID/8196051/

P.S. The PHU has a capacity for 47 but 4 years ago only held 21.

With a minimum of 19 years in prison before he's eligible for parole, which almost never happens on a first go-round, he'll be 88 years old when he next breathes the fresh air of freedom. Unless he's sturdier than he looks, that's about the equivolent of a death sentence anyway. After all he's not going to be pampered with preferential treatment in prison.

His only hope of walking out of prison on his own two feet is if his lawyers get lucky on appeal, which isn't likely. Fiedler seems like a very careful judge to me. He's not about to give them grounds for any such thing.

It amazes and amuses me to see so many people, who have had no "faith" in anything other than themselves, suddenly find religion in prison. Sharon Tate's murderers come to mind.

Well, what else is there to do in prison? Oh, well. As long as a person has breath, the paths of Faith are open. I have no right to judge. I'm just a little "leery" of these conversions.

But my opinion is nothing. A greater Power is in charge and knows the true belief of people.

I have looked forward to this day for the last 4 years. I even thought I would celebrate it. Yet...

I find myself curiously sad and introspective. I love humor, as all here know. But not a glint of humor was in me when I awoke this morning. How very strange. . . . (respectivelly snipped).

:biggrinjester:

You were not alone, and I feel I must thank you for putting into words how I've felt. Really. Thank you.

Hi Vonna:

Do you believe he will outlive a 19 year prison sentence? 19 years is a life sentence for him.

imo... of course.

No, I don't. I think he will die in prison - and should.

I would like to take a moment and offer my sympathies to My2Cents. I can only imagine what you have gone thru. I lost my mom when I was twelve and still carry that loss in my heart to this day. Please know that you are in my prayers.

Thank you so much "Daisy's Mom".

And THANK YOU to all the wonderful people at this forum since I stumbled across it back in Oct or November, 2008. I was frantically searching for any tid-bit of information regarding the Spector retrial and discovered this forum. I remember being nervous about joining and making my 1st post. A bit afraid to jump in and voice my opinion on the current Spector insights and feedback about the day's court proceedings. Everyone seemed to know each other and was so up-to-date on the testimony so far.

EVERYONE was so helpful, kind, knowledgeable and patient. THANKS. What great individuals I was so fortunate to meet. . . through POSTS, PMs and E-mails and even a few through phone calls and in person and at the courthouse. THANKS A MILLION - it has been EDUCATIONAL, INSIGHTFUL, ENTERTAINING and JUST PLAIN FUN. You're one smart group of people and you ALL SEEM TO HAVE SUCH KIND AND LOVING HEARTS. I know that 99.9% of us are here, posting & reading this site, for the SAME EXACT REASON . . . JUSTICE.

I think we saw it here today. And even though it won't resolve things for Lana's family - it is the best that our justice system has to offer for them, and for that I am thankful at the outcome and wish them well in the civil trial. :rose:

TO: Gary and Louis - You two are amazing men. You have accomplished this in spite of your upbringing and the crazy environment you have been raised in. I wish you both, happiness and my very best. You deserve that and so much more.
