I agree with throwing the bums out, and scholars are a good idea, but are they open to idea of others? Probably better than politicians, come to think of it.

Great idea!!
Then we'd have more Bill Clintons (Rhodes Scholar) and no Dick Cheneys (flunked out of Yale)...
What a role model, a flunkie appoints himself VP:lol:

Throw all the bums out ! Good idea, anyone but politicians sounds good to me. Seems like Politicians are all about selfishness, corruption, power, perks, scandals, abuse of power. lying, spending tax payer money and creating Earmarks for election contributions.

I await the responses of those that wish to make the one parties' reps offenses of less importance or less crucial than those of their counterparts as I know enough of you on this board to know that you will defend to the death those in your own party regardless of wrongdoing. Nearly every one of our current politicians is in it for the power. It takes a very narcissistic person to want to be a politician these days. There are few if any that are truly concerned about our country. Until & unless we quit defending a politician due to party, we will never get rid of the corruption. So in answer to the OP, we do need someone to represent us just not the someones that are in office now.
Aaaahhhhhh, your last paragraph is my DH's dream. He dreams every night that all of Congress is thrown out of office and people that are not in it only for power and narcissism will come to help us run this country. (sigh)

And starting unnecessary wars:sad:
I didn't see the Democrats ending the "unnecessary war" in 2007 after they promised that they would.. in fact, I don't see the "unnecessary war" ending under Obama, as there is talk of beefing up Afghanistan, that's not ending a war.
