Attorney describes messages spray-painted on walls inside Columbia home where slayings occurred
BY BETH HUNDSDORFER - News-Democrat
SNIP < A lawyer for the family of murder victim Sheri Coleman described today messages spray-painted on the walls of the home where she and her two young sons were found strangled.
Attorney Jack Carey filed a wrongful death lawsuit today seeking documents concerning life insurance obtained by Sheri Coleman's husband, Chris Coleman, who is accused of the murders. Her family also won a temporary order allowing them access to the house at 2854 Robert Drive in Columbia.
Carey, Sheri Coleman's brother Mario Weiss and family spokesman Enrico Mirabelli entered the home with the help of a locksmith at 12:55 p.m. Carey walked out of the house a short time later, overcome with emotion. >

FOX Files: Surveillance Camera In Coleman Neighborhood
Footage May Play Key Role In Murder Investigation
By Chris Hayes
May 26, 2009
SNIP <COLUMBIA AND CHESTER, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - A police surveillance camera could be an important part of the Coleman murder investigation. The camera is mounted near the water town at the Columbia Lakes subdivision. It is in that subdivision where Sheri Coleman died along with her two sons on May 5th. Sheri's husband, the father of the two boys, has been charged with their murders.
The camera is capable of shooting a 360 degree view, which would include the water tower, the only road in and out of the neighborhood, and the surrounding highways. It is part of a network of at least 6 cameras in Columbia operated by VisionAble Surveillance Solutions, a company in West County that helps police and businesses solve crimes around the world.>

Pictures are heartbreaking IMO. You really see Sheri with the boys and other family members as well as on her Mission trip to Cambodia.

'Such horror': Messages were spray-painted on walls in Columbia home where slayings occurred
Writing on walls may have been directed at Sheri, attorneys sayBY BETH HUNDSDORFER AND GEORGE PAWLACZYK - News-Democrat
COLUMBIA -- It was more than Belleville lawyer Jack Carey could emotionally stand, he said, walking into the house Tuesday where Sheri Coleman and her two sons, Garett and Gavin, were found strangled May 5.
He came out looking shaken and talked to reporters gathered outside.
"It's hard to comprehend that such a lovely home would contain such horror," he said.

Police seized airline boarding passes, a Home Depot receipt for spray paint and computer equipment in a search warrant served at Christopher Coleman's home in Columbia, Ill., after his wife and two sons were slain there, according to court documents opened today.
Orange twine with a loop tied on one end -- similar to twine that bound bales of straw behind the Coleman house -- was found by detectives searching along Interstate 255, the warrants say. Police have said that Sheri Coleman and her sons were strangled with a ligature.>

Judge unseals search warrants in Coleman case: Twine found by bridge resembled that found at home
BY BETH HUNDSDORFER AND GEORGE PAWLACZYK - News-Democrat
WATERLOO -- Detectives investigating the strangulation of Sheri Coleman and her sons found an orange piece of twine with a noose tied on one end near the Jefferson Barracks Bridge that resembled twine used to tie four bales of hay found behind the Colemans' home, according to search warrants unsealed Wednesday.
The search warrants were released on a judge's order in response to a Belleville News-Democrat request filed last week in Monroe County Circuit Court.
For the first time since the investigation began, the contents of threatening letters sent to the Colemans were revealed. Chris Coleman told police - on Jan. 2 - that someone had mailed the first letter to the family home at 2854 Robert Drive. >

SNIP <Christopher Coleman told his girlfriend in Florida that he would marry her in 2010, and that he had an alibi for the murders of his slain family, according to search warrants obtained by the Post-Dispatch.
The girlfriend, Tara Lintz, was interviewed by police in St. Petersburg, Fla., in the days following the murders of Sheri Coleman and her two young sons on May 5. Lintz admitted to investigators that she had sexually explicit communications with Chris Coleman via her cell phone, email, and social networking accounts. She said their sexual relationship began in November 2008. >

WATERLOO -- On the night before his family was strangled, Christopher Coleman told his Florida girlfriend that he would serve divorce papers on his wife the next day, according to testimony Wednesday morning in Monroe County Court.
And renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden put the time of death for murder victims Sheri Coleman and her sons Gavin, 9, and Garett, 11, at between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., well before the time her husband Christopher Coleman said he left for a gym workout.
Images from a surveillance camera mounted right across the street from the Coleman home at the house of Columbia Police Detective Justin Barlow, one of the investigators on the triple murder, showed Coleman leaving at 5:43 a.m. on May 5.

Snipped <Prosecutors Say Evidence Against Coleman Overwhelming In Family's Murder
Prosecutors say girlfriend of Coleman was in St. Louis looking for a house
11:36 AM CDT, June 10, 2009
WATERLOO, IL (KTVI - FOX2now.com) - Prosecutors laid out their case against murder suspect Chris Coleman Wednesday morning during a preliminary hearing. Prosecutors revealed that video taken from his neighbor's house doesn't show anyone coming or going besides Chris Coleman. They also stated the back window that was found opened by the first arriving police presented some clues. Coleman told investigators he checked all the windows and all were unlocked. However, there were no footprints around the window outside.
And when detectives went in through the window they immediately realized they left footprints and grass clippings but found none from anyone who may have gone into the house through the window in order to kill the family.
Prosecutors also disclosed there was spray paint on both of the kids beds found at the crime scene. They also told the court that Chris Coleman never came in the house or asked to come in the house when he returned that morning. Police told the court that Chris Coleman had an abrasion on his arm which was noticed by investigators that morning.

Monroe County Sheriff Dan Kelly said after the hearing that Coleman is afforded visits with his family once a week, either on Wednesday afternoons or Sunday mornings at the jail. He said Coleman is behind glass and his family members hear him through a telephone receiver.
During the hearing, O'Gara and Assistant State's Attorney Kris Reitz tentatively set the trial for August.
