No kidding. Goes back to my argument for them needing external controls. You realize who all they would be flinging under the bus, still, except NOW they know it's going to hit them where it hurts. So it was either lies in the first place and they knew it, or they don't care enough about punishing the "real" killer if it may cost them.

You know Kasens argument of the depo being a trap. Whereas if Casey answered one or seven questions then Morgan/Mitnick would come back with YOU OPENED THE DOOR YOU CAN'T PICK AND CHOOSE. Certainly they can pick and choose. I've never ever heard that if someone answers one thing then invoked the fifth on the rest it doesn't count anymore and you have to continue or LOL sorry lost my point because I was going to say get put in jail for comtempt. She is in jail for worse

They don't want Casey to make any statements what so ever is the bottom line. Everything that comes out IS incriminating and always leads to her committing this crime.

And I got the impression Mitnic (I think) will enjoy his upcoming face off with Cindy.
As usual, I agree with you, ish!

Just in the way the attorney - was it Mitnik? - was goading Cindy in the deposition ("here's one you'll like...") and the private mocking ("this won't look good if it's played in court...") and the entrapping ("so Casey gave you permission to speak for her...") and other examples......M&M are having a field day with the Anthonys!!

I know djsmom! I really think this lawsuit is what kept them from going all out for the Jesse and Amy. That seemed to give them pause more than anything else did. If Mitnick didn't do this, no telling what other collateral damage would have been done. (That, and I'm not real sure that Jesse's dad is someone they thought about tangling with. :scared:)

IMO The reason that the ants dislike the grunds is that they are good people and came real close to knowing exactly what the ant's are really like, and as Cindy does if you get to close to see what liars they are then she attacks.

Thank you gator for this article. I think someway, some how there will be those that make sure the odious creature is informed of this case.

Just a reminder, premeditation can occur in a blink of an eye and I think it is present in this case.

I love that this defamation suit is going forward, because now that the Judge has ruled there can be punitive damages requested, this gives Morgan and Mitnik permission to go after info on casey anthony's finances in a huge way. If cindy is added to the action, the same pertains to her finances. This imo, it the critical news coming out of yesterday's hearing.

Anything found out about nefarious financing will be shared with LE, imo.

The anthonys are only now just seeing the fallout from their despicable actions. imo.
in my experience with medical malpractice insurance carriers, even though they pay to defend doctors, the insurance carrier does NOT cover any punitive damages that may be awarded (they pay other damages, but not those deemed punitive). [eta - the doctor would have to pay the punitive damages award out of his/her own pocket]

IF the anthony's homeowner insurance is on the hook for any judgment (does anyone know for certain if they are paying to defend casey??), i would think that they wouldn't cover the punitive damages. does anyone who has experience with homeowners insurance know if punitive damages would be paid by insurance?

What annoyed me yesterday is the Defense attorney on JVM, Drew something kept putting down Mitnik/Morgan as wasting the courts time and hurting Casey's case. He even mentioned that the "some other dude did it" defense could be damaged with cases like this. GMAB, I'd like to see more people, who are thrown under a bus by a defense attorney who is trying to get his guilty client off, sue. Why should their reputation be damaged, I have no problem with an attorney attacking the evidence but don't try to blame someone else. I always think of David Westerfields attorney attempting to do that to Westerfields son.
What a creep, and double on Westerfield for allowing it!!

I so very much agree with you...And as for David Westerfields attorney...he should be in jail right along with Westerfield.....I followed that cse...it made me sick as well.....

That's the really strange part of the story (stories) about how Casey acquired Baez as her attorney. Ambulance chasers are known to solicit potential clients, and work on the "if-come"; Baez, practicing (or malpracticing) criminal law SHOULD want to secure payment up-front since that's the only way there is anything in it for him. His first instinct should have been - does this person have the ability to pay my fee? There is definitely something wrong with the story that another inmate told Casey she knew a good criminal lawyer and would have HIM contact HER. There was no way for Baez, or anyone, to know that this would become a case that would generate enough publicity to make a name for an unknown attorney when Casey was first arrested. Something is NOT right with the story on how Casey and Baez got hooked up IMO.

You have a really good point...He did become her attorney before this case become so hugh....How did he expect to get paid?

Why would anyone hire DC? He was telling G&C he was hot on Zanny's heels and that Caylee was going to be found alive when Caylee was decomposing in a field!! Crystal's mother is an idiot.

How do you know what DC said to G&C? Did it come from the mouths of G&C? Remember, any words that leave the mouths of G&C are lies. And from what I've seen of DC, any word that comes from his mouth is probably also a lie.

I am playing catch up on last night and this morning's news releases. I finally got around to NG and Padilla Says George Anthony's Story Is Untrue (http://www.wftv.com/news/19507717/detail.html)

From the newslink: Leonard Padilla says Lee told him Cindy tried to choke Casey on Father's Day and that's when she took off with Caylee.

I think this would not be admissible since Lee was not there at the house when the argument started. Casey told Lee and Lee told Padilla. Hearsay.

No they are NOT! UR wrong. John Morgan and many attorney's on his staff have AV ratings. An AV rating is a peer rating that means:

Martindale-Hubbell states as follows:

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings system is based on the confidential opinions of members of the Bar and the Judiciary, including both those who are rated and those who are not. Martindale-Hubbell representatives conduct personal interviews to discuss lawyers under review with other members of the Bar. A compilation of these opinions from various sources is necessary to form a consensus, and lawyers under review are sometimes asked to provide professional references to assist with the process. In addition, confidential questionnaires are sent to lawyers and judges in the same geographic location and/or area of practice as the lawyer being rated. Members of the Bar are instructed to assess their colleague's legal ability and general ethical standards.

There are two components to each Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating:

1. Legal Ability Ratings Legal Ability Ratings take into consideration the standard of professional ability in the area where the lawyer practices, the lawyer's expertise, and other professional qualifications. If a lawyer's practice is limited or specialized, Peer Review Ratings are based on performance in those specific fields of law. Legal Ability Ratings are: C - Good to High B - High to Very High A - Very High to Preeminent

2. General Ethical Standards Rating The General Ethical Standards Rating denotes adherence to professional standards of conduct and ethics, reliability, diligence and other criteria relevant to the discharge of professional responsibilities. The General Recommendation Rating is: V - Very High A lawyer will not receive a Legal Ability Rating unless he or she has been endorsed for a "V."

When both categories of Peer Review Ratings are confirmed, a lawyer receives an CV, BV or AV Rating.
bullet CV Peer Review Rating — an excellent first Rating and a statement of a lawyer's above average ability and very high ethics.
bullet BV Peer Review Rating — an indication of an exemplary reputation and well-established practice. A typical lawyer is in mid-career, with a significant client base and high professional standing.
bullet AV Peer Review Rating — shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.

Well there are probably more "ambulance chasers" out there than just Morgan and Morgan. I see commercials for them all the time. The only reason Baez isn't an "ambulance chaser" is because he seems to keep someone on the inside of the jail handing out his cards. I am just glad to see someone standing up to the Anthony's and giving them the old 'one two' for all they have done. Someone needs to teach them what consequences are since they don't seem to know what that means.

I object to this being repeated that Morgan is an ambulance chaser. He's not! Look up what an AV rating for a lawyer means! He's a fine lawyer and a good man.

I may be very wrong...but really do not care too much either way....
The type of cases that they advertise they handle are usually "ambulance chaser caragory's".....I also have seen many a high profile attorney hanging around court houses when business was slow...When I say High Profile, I'm referring to a case or two they might have handled that made the media....I also have seen many an elder attorney hanging out at the court house.....When business is slow....But in any case, I really do not think too much of Morgan and Morgan.....I'm only happy that they have been able to get the goat of the Anthony's......and seeing as they achieved that, I'm happy.....

However, after yesterdays hearing, I do believe they are going to go after a lot more money then just the 15,000 that they entered in....I believe they see big bucks in this case and want to immediately put their claim in "for their client" of course.....Are they doing this for free?

I can't wait to hear the Judge comment on this on Thursday. He was miffed about Kasen's minor antics. I'm sure he's seen the A's in action and I expect at the very least a lecture.

I'm hoping he will give them a lecture and a contempt of court fine for their deposition antics

Just wndering....

They have the civil case on a contingency basis rather than on a retainer (flat fee), I am guessing. With a contingency, they get a percentage of the award -- often high, like 40%. It is a risk-reward kind of thing. Just my two cents.

I like John Morgan. I liked his baiting in the deposition; I thought it was nicely balanced as provocative without being improperly aggressive. No namecalling, no profanity, just the tone of voice and a little sneering. A valid strategy is to get the witness off balance enough that they start to speak thoughtlessly, because sometimes they let some adverse truthful facts slip accidentally.

I recall one deposition where I was doing the standard background questions that are usually covered in the beginning i.e. all names ever used, addresses lived at during last 5 years and with whom, any criminal history etc. The plaintiff was squirming around and kept taking a folded piece of paper out of his pocket and then putting it back. I asked to see it and it turned out to be the plaintiff's RAP SHEET listing all his criminal convictions. He must have had a guilty conscience about his interrogatory answers claiming to have no criminal convictions, not to mention his earlier deposition testimony! I didn't make a big deal about it at the time because I was in "friendly" mode - I generously gave him the opportunity to "correct" his prior responses - but it helped me pressure his attorney to settle the case for probably half or a third of what he would have gotten if he hadn't shot down his own credibility.

Most experienced attorneys have a wide repertoire of attitudes in their pocket and they pull out whatever fits the situation. Friendliness, sympathy, mockery, suspicion, whatever.

I wonder how all of the new members that joined Cindy's church just because of her would feel about this display of Christian good will during a tragedy.

They probably joined Cindy's church so they could stare and rubberneck at her and George every Sunday. I mean those sermons can be really long and one has to do something to ease the boredom. And it's a great conversation starter, "Did you know that I go to the same church as George and Cindy Anthony? Oh yes I do!" The entertainment factor of G and C is not a reason to join a congregation.

You are very correct... But usually they will only take a contingency case if they are pretty sure they will win....the fee is 33%...If they don't think they will win, or they have any doubt they will charge up front if the person wants to persue it.....

That guy was so obnoxious, but Mr. Mitnik's responses to him were great. Don't you get the idea that TH attys from NYC & LA think they are somehow smarter and better? I do, and it tickles me when they get bested by someone like John Morgan and Mitnik.

Wish JVM had brought back Lisa Bloom to comment on statement by Ron's atty. Night before last she was vociferously touting Cindy's wonderful appearance at the vigil.

Finding out if she lies about having $ would be the first thing any criminal lawyer would want to know before he even considered representing her. It's really very simple. She pays a down payment before he even hears her side of the story. No pay, no possibility of representation. That's the first law of survival for any enterprising criminal lawyer, particularly when dealing with an inmate who can't even make bail since they ALL lie.

IMHO You are incorrect again my friend. Morgan's business is NEVER SLOW. It is a national firm serving all 50 states.

And I reiterate: "Morgan & Morgan features numerous AV Rated Attorneys, including firm founder John Morgan. An AV Rating indicates that the attorney has reached the height of professional excellence, demonstrating the highest levels of skill and integrity. An AV Rating is achieved only through independent peer review."

I don't know what else you want really. That he works for free, that he not advertise and that he has only one dinky office in a strip mall?

and the moon is made of green cheese.. and Casey "loved that child"
Oh my I hate to hear them say that. Any mother I know would not kill their baby. or wait 31 days to tell anyone she is missing. The mother I know would be crying their eyes out every single day she was missing. The mosthers I know that truley do love their babys would be out of their minds if one come up missing. Most mother would be begging for help on tv or any way they could to get it out that their baby was missing. not living it up with a bf. the a;s don;t even use caylee;s name just she loves that child. g and c both acted so ugly in the depos.until I hope they make them do it over and make them ans.every question. It seems to me they have forgotten that child as they put it and now it is about money. the foundation. never will a dime of my money go to any of them. I do hope z get plenty of money from them because they or making a lot right now. no work for the a'a since this started. most people can;t live with out a pay check. I sure wish Ron would find his little girl and she would be ok. He just broke my heart when he frist found out about her missing. now that is how people act when they really love that CHILD jmho

We've missed you, too, Nana! Nothing new as of today. Just re-hashing yesterday for the most part. (Did you see that Cindy Lee'd someone in court yesterday and Haleigh's fathers' attorneys did a PR which stated that the A's aren't welcome in his camp any more?)

Hi nana, Hope you are feeling better. Yesterday there was a hearing in the civil case.

http://www.wftv.com/video/19503363/index.html
M&M got to amend their original filing and now are seeking punative damages also.

Plus see let her middle finger (the Lee) go to someone in the media while leaving the court room.

Look at forth article down.

"At one point during the July visit, when Casey Anthony was initially jailed on child-neglect charges in the disappearance of Caylee, George Anthony talked to her about their family.

"You know I just had an analogy of our family. Think of me as the thumb. Think of dad. The next finger, the index finger, think of your mom. She likes to point, just like Caylee," George Anthony said.

"Yeah, but it's that middle finger," interrupted Casey Anthony while laughing.

"The middle finger, I guess is a problem," joked George Anthony. "I'm looking at size in the family. The next finger after that is going to be Lee, then you, and that little pinky is Caylee. So think of your hand like this is us. This is the family that loves each other, that cares and needs to be together, and we're missing two fingers."

"I'm still here," Casey Anthony said."

Two things stick out here for me. One the obvious fickle finger and the fact that when Casey said "I'm still here, would mean to me her first admission that Caylee was dead. Way before Caylee's remains were found.

Really interesting read. Also backs up my theory that OC is ZFG and the scaredmonkeys (Blink34) article was right on track. Also it backs it up with OC having a past run in with the law.

Thank you for the link. If you add the statement George made to the FBI,

That I can verify. I know that because we've met these people that she worked with -- or my wife has -- I've talked to them over the phone," George Anthony said in the August interview. You mean she didn't deny the OC murdered Caylee, yet asked for a list of the lies? She's her own worst enemy! Heck, let the OC watch some of the highlights of mommy dearest in action and then give them 5 minutes of personal time - the OC will put an end to CA's talking for good by triple bagging her and throwing her out like the trash.

I think we should make a concerted effort to assemble as many lies in a list that we can think of or research.

They have to be bald face lies. This list could get so long, that we may have to start a thread on its own. This lie list will be about 20 miles long when completed. 8pt font-face: arial.

Just catching up with all the post and this one sticks out like a sore thumb.
I have to agree with you Barbara. Altho I don't know this law firm and I'm not living anywhere near that area. I will say I have worked with a lot of high profile attorneys throughout the years and I don't believe any of them would have put up with The Anthony's behavior when they deposed them. They would have called it quits right there and went directly to the Judge.
Cindy Anthony's behavior was ignorant. Just plain Ignorant. She looked like a fool sitting there arguing with Morgan and Morgan. However, Morgan looked like fools equally.
OH! Anthony's attorney was a mess, too...Does he really hold a law degree?:scared:

Conway is another one...I doubt that he holds too good of a degree...he just sits there (no pun intended)....and doesn't say a word...he's wheeled in and out by George...

You are so right and observing as well...I didn't hear much repercussion over that...but I heard it also and I took it the same way as you.....An admission to the fact that Caylee was never coming back....

ish
05-20-2009, 05:12 PM
You said Casey only went to fusion 1 time while caylee was missing and she was working.

you said you Caylee wasn't missing prior to July 15th

you said you had no reason to be worried about Caylee cause she was with Casey

you said Casey will be voted "mother of the year"

you said you think Amy or Jesse is Zanny

You said Casey lied about working so she could spend more time with Caylee
