I'm not sure where I should put this so please let me know if it is in the wrong place.

A friend's husband has been arrested to child abuse. The mother took the child to the hospital where the child had to have surgery. These people are professionals (doctor, etc) and although I knew the husband had a horrible temper I never expected this. All the children have been removed from the home by social services.

This has been kept quite. All I have seen is the booking report which is available online.

Is there a specific way to search or a specific place to search for records?

Usually matters involving children are private I believe. But, you might try your courthouse-clerks office I think.

Thanks. My concern is that he is around others that are in his care that he could also take advantage of (physically abuse). It seems that his immediate supervisors are covering this up so he doesn't lose his job. I don't want him to lose his job but I do want him on leave until the charges are proved or disproved. This is a perfect example of someone that shouldn't be in a certain position and then something happens to someone innocent and it is to late. There have also been allegations in the past year about his abusing others but no one took action. This time his child ended up in surgery so the ER had to take note.

The information that identifies the child who was reputed to be abused is confidential; the name of the accused abuser is not. It is very similar to the laws protecting the privacy of an adult rape victim. The accused is also banned from having contact with any other children also in about 99% of the cases I was ever involved with. I worked for Family and Children's Services for 20+ years. I don't understand what other children you are concerned about. What type of job does he have that he is responsible for the care of other children? If his job does not cause him to have direct contact with children, his attorney may have been able to get the court to let him maintain his job. Or if he may be prohibited from being alone with a child.
I understand your concern but without more information, it's hard to guess why the court did what they did. Was it sexual abuse or physical abuse?

The abuse on the child was physical. He works with mentally ill adults including a few with Alzheimer's and has been known to hit a patient but called it self defense. The only person to believe it was self defense was his supervisor.

Protect the poor children and the poor patients; not him! I know you said "until" but the fact is that people need to be protected while it gets proven or disproven.

You are right. I really do want him to lose his job but I want the process to work. I called to his office this morning (being nosey) and he is still working. I know that three people up the chain of command know about this and nothing has been done. I am at a lost as to what else I can possibly do. I thought they would move him to an admin position until everything was cleared up legally then he would be out of the job.

I am trying to do the right thing it just isn't getting anywhere. I know this is the kind of situation that can go bad and then people look back and say they should have done something.

What is my next step?

he could turn around and sue you...

So I think it would be best for you to not take any steps but let the legal system run it's course.
