Hooboy! Reminds me of that old song, the more I work the deeper in debt.

Sounds like my credit card debt, or the amount of taxes my family has to pay because we are self employed. from the article:

The government will have to borrow nearly 50 cents for every dollar it spends this year

we doubled the national debt in the last 8 years, did not properly fund infrastructure or the economy, what a waste, now we have to spend twice as much to fix it as we would of to keep it working in the first place :(

Can you say ANYTHING about what is going on today without touting 'bush did it' and the last 'eight years?'. Please try to make a comment about what is going on NOW and how it makes you feel k?

Robbing peter to pay paul is NOT the answer BTW.

Personally if I had a credit card that charged me 50 cents on the dollar I would get rid of that company. How? It's called CHOICE.

What is going on TODAY is a direct REFLECTION of what occured the LAST 8 YEARS. So yes, commenting on the last 8 years is valid.

unless America goes bankrupt, Bush's doubling the national debt is still effecting us, it did not end a few months ago when he left office, we STILL owe that money back, we still have to pay to fix what was ignored and or broke during the last 8 years

what is the alternative republicans offer, more huge tax cuts for the top 10%, ignoring the problem for another 8 years and hoping it will go away with trickle down economics?

Just because the Republicans don't have an alternative doesn't mean the USA should go spend crazy. jmo

That doesn't mean there isn't an alternative to borrowing and spending future generations into the poor house. jmo

After being shut out of the first Obama- Pelosi- Reid 'stimulus' bill, republicans worked hard to let Americans know what actually was in the 'massive' spending bill in the interest of full disclosure to the American people.
The republicans offered a comprehensive budget and proposed 3.6 TRILLION less in borrowing over the next ten years.

The republican road to recovery...put the power of entrepreneurial spirit and innovation back to the people. Without exploiting the economic crisis.

so not only ignore the issue, cut spending on top of it, how many jobs will be lost by that?

the only cuts in spending that help is defense spending as that is our biggest expense, do you suggest we cut that in half?

Health Care reform will be the biggest expenditure by far. We cannot afford it right now. We have to dig ourselves out of this deficit. We can cut more in the budget. We aren't looking hard enough. We have duplicative entitlements and entitlements that are not working.

if it don't work, if Obama can not undo the damage of the last 8 years then we will be like Russia, we go bk and have to start over as a new nation, I think Obama is doing a good job so far and we see signs the free fall has slowed, it's gonna take time, no overnight fix, but think we are on the right track now

Any spending now has to be for producing jobs. Nothing else.

Saving a few jobs wouldn't hurt. California just sent layoff notices to 5.000. jmo

China has just warned us to stop printing money. Even outside countries can't figure out what we are doing and why! The government is now buying billions of Treasury Bills with money they don't have.

China warns Federal Reserve over 'printing money'

Mr Fisher, the Fed's leading hawk, was a fierce opponent of the original decision to buy Treasury debt, fearing that it would lead to a blurring of the line between fiscal and monetary policy – and could all too easily degenerate into Argentine-style financing of uncontrolled spending.
"This situation is of your own creation. When you berate your representatives or senators or presidents for the mess we are in, you are really berating yourself. You elect them," he said.
