Depends on the country. Many Muslim countries, they can leave - but pushing for a conversion is barely or not tolerated.
It sounds like this was something relatively minimal - but considering how prestigious it is to have the American president's grandmother as a representative of another religion, I'm sure they'd be extra protective of her. IMO, the fact that Obama has relatives of religions that are not just Christian goes a long way to making the Muslim world feel like maybe, just maybe, America is not trying to be it's enemy.

Are Muslims allowed to leave Islam?
In *theory* there is supposedly no compulsion in religion...the Quran specifically says so. In practice however, there are some Muslim countries where you can be executed for attempting to convert a Muslim away from Islam.

Do you mean the "QUR'AN" aka: the Koran??
it always helps to know the exact spelling of something if one is trying to impress others with their " vast knowledge".
Lol...I was trying to impress no one. And I have a new keyboard that i'm struggling to learn to type on, so i tried to keep it simple.
There was no need to be ugly, unless that's just your nature. I have to assume it is...so you're now on ignore.
