I guess it'll trickle down from the trillions to the fat cats.

ITA, we are still waiting for all those jobs it was going create! IMHO they have it stashed in off shore bank accounts, or in Swiss banks. or blew it up with war weapons, bombs, shock and awe. Poof. Talk aboutj "burning money." IMHO

OMG how silly, and that was under Bush! Hello, it's May, 2009. At least we should be current, & all indicators now say the deterioration, has slowed down, and as I posted on another thread, my state an area regulary prints how the stimulous money is being used and helping. Some just want to spread all the bad news they can find, and ignore positive signs.

Good catch! I was over at recovery.gov and was looking at the funding for my state, WA.

We received $24,948,653 for Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.

http://www.recovery.gov/?q=content/allocation-programs&state=WA

At this time I don't know if or how the governor is going to spend it, but it's still a nice chunk of change.

If you want to check your own state, you can use this graphic.

I hope the day comes when every child goes to sleep in their own home.

OMG how silly, and that was under Bush! Hello, it's May, 2009. snipped.

1) Seems like it's a habit, the posting of old "news."

2) The article was about what a Stim Bill SHOULD include, which is, clearly, way before the Stim Bill was written and passed.

3) How crazy to post GWB numbers and blame Pres Obamam, eh?

Lots of signs this is turning around. Where I live, an article in the WSJ recently printed what we found when buying our house - that there's now enough demand that there are bidding wars for houses. A good sign for the housing market stabilizing. We had to bid up for our house.

But I love articles from Bush era being used to suggest something wrong with Obama - as if he isn't already doing it, and as if everything being pushed the wrong direction for the last 8 years can be instantly reversed by the magical President Obama. Funny that there was indeed money for this in the stimulus though - looks like they did just what the poster said they should - wonder why she didn't look into what was actually done to find out if there was anything to complain about or not?

I should have paid more attention to the OP. In that article it recommends this.

A significant funding increase for homelessness prevention assistance through HUD’s Emergency Shelter Grant program. With an additional $1.5 billion to $2 billion, states and localities, through existing networks of service providers, could provide short-term assistance to enable approximately 400,000 families to avert eviction or obtain new housing.

OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AWARDS NEARLY $1.6 BILLION IN HOMELESS GRANTS TO THOUSANDS OF LOCAL HOUSING AND SERVICE PROGRAMS NATIONWIDE
Recovery Plan provides $1.5 billion in additional funding for homeless prevention

Yes, my paper said a few days ago: 80% of projects underway for the $175 million our state receives for 547 different projects. I guess other states aren't not as "organize?"

I guess it'll trickle down from the trillions to the fat cats. It's just sad that so many are losing jobs and homes on a daily basis.. I can't go a day without talking to people who have been layed off or know someone who has been layed off.. there will obviously be more homeless people in this country due to the poor economy that is not being addressed.. IMO :crying:

My neighbor has a friend that lost his job and can't find another. He would be homeless if it weren't for my neighbor allowing him to move in. It is so sad!

Sheesh. The amount of homeless is still rising so nothing has changed since January unless you have new numbers to show otherwise.

And it's getting worse by the day. Do you have anything to say about the homeless? Your thoughts or feelings about the subject? Can you admit it's getting worse and not better? Do you have any suggestions to help the problem? I'm really interested.
