Since I know you are all wondering "What does Baywench think about all this?" and I don't know how to do multiple quotes....

I have never understood the part about her Mom knowing she just needed to cool down and she lets her go. Did Britanee pack a bag? Wouldn't that be a red flag after she had just asked to go to MB?

I have been completely absorbed in the CA case since the beginning. That being said I cannot figure out why that case has the most amount of posters, and still has so much interest. We know who did it. There are some very interesting and time sensitive cases that need to stay in the forefront. If NG and her producers were camped out in front of Haleigh's house 24/7 and every move reported on, that case would be the one that garnished more interest. I hardly ever watch NG anymore although I used to be a big fan. She's not as good of a moderator as she used to be. She is just plain hateful to her guests and seems to take pride in being mean. I could probably stomach her show again if they would make it an absolute rule that no one could say "I love your show" I love your twins....you are so wonderful...blah blah blah. JVM just screams. She is too loud for me, plus how many different conditions does she have. Recovering alcoholic, in counseling for years etc.

I think opinions on a message board are just that...opinions, theories. If I had a missing child I would not be reading crime message boards. I think you should be able to post whatever is relevant to the case. If the mother acted weird, she acted weird. That imo is not slander. jmo

Dawn Drexel says she wants to set the record straight her daughter did not run away.

"Somebody took her," she said.

After weeks of searching for her daughter Brittanee in Myrtle Beach, Dawn Drexel has returned to Rochester to keep hope alive in her hometown.

"As you can probably tell, I'm exhausted," Drexel said. "We've been just handing out flyers, getting Brittanee's name out there."

That is a great point. I have found it strange, from the beginning, that the mom didn't pick up on the fact that her daughter was in MB. It seems pretty transparent. "Mom can I go to MB?", "No!", "Fine i'll stay at my friends!". I know that my mother would have been suspicious from the start, but then again she didn't trust me as far as she could throw me. Part of me believes her mother had to have known, on some level, that BD was pulling a fast one. Maybe she was just going to let it be until she got home but now doesn't want to admit that she knew and didn't call her on it. I still believe 100% she did NOT have permission to go though.

We also never found out if this was a spur of the moment trip for BD or if she had plan to go for awhile. Did her friends invite her that week or had they made plans 3-4-6-8 weeks before hand? Maybe BD put money in for the hotel before she even asked her mom if she could go. I think that information would shed a lot of light on how Brittanee Drexel operated and what she might/might not have had up her sleeve.

I read on another board that Brittanee wears contact lenses (presumably colored) and her eyes are not nearly as blue as they appear. They are actually more of a greenish-blue. Pop out the contact lenses, take off the makeup and you have an entirely different person that most people wouldn't give a second thought to considering they are searching for those big blue eyes.

Most kids wear daily throw-a-ways now. A very near-sighted teen would not run away with plans to see an optometrist immediately (it's expensive).

If teens had that much sense to consider all the ramifications of running away, there would be NO runaways. Brittanee would not have runaway to MB. She ran away to MB with virtual strangers with only $100.

That doesn't seem strange to me, having a college age son. He wouldn't have hesitated to go on $100, and he says that's more true for a girl. She probably had to chip in on the room. Maybe not if she slept on the floor. All her alcohol could be expected gratis. On the food, with good friends, he said 1 restaurant order is more than enough for two and if only 1 person is bumming, usually 2 or 3 will split. Of course this would have been part of a conspiracy, knowing she did not have permission. Brittanee's friends had turned out to be less than bosom buddies.

Even if she did run away at first, she would have had a reality check in a few days and called home, unless something criminal befell her.

ETA--she almost certainly had a lot more money that Dawn knew about.

She very well could be wearing weeklies or monthlies. Furthermore she may very well have had a pair of prescription eye glasses in her purse at the time she disappeared. Most people have a pair on them just in case. If she did run away ridding herself of the colored lenses and putting on glasses would really do wonders for changing her look though.

Dawn says her daughter is no runaway.

"When I got down there, both of her bags were there, full of her clothes, her flat iron," said Drexel.

Dawn has worked out a theory, and it's not a pleasant one.

"From Wednesday to Saturday, she was by herself a lot. Somebody was probably watching her. And ended up either, she got in the car with somebody, that she thought she knew, just from meeting them there, or, they took her," said Drexel.

Sadly, I dont know how they can find out who she had met while there since none of the kids that was there with her had anything to do with her.
Someone had 4 days to watch her coming & going by herself if they were stalking her.
I hope LE has reviewed videos from everywhere (which is a hug task probably) to see where she shows up and if their is any faces showing up repeatedly along with Britanees.

I think it's great her mother has gone back. If they can just continue to walk around on the weekends, on the boardwalk they just may spot her or someone who knows something.
I've still not heard squat about any camping sites nearby, or homeless shelter, outdoor areas where younger homeless kids would hang. LE needs to hit these places. She has no money, no clothing, no property no vehicle that we know of, unless someone is harboring her.

They do have outdoor campsites in and around Myrtle Beach, but I'm not sure how much they cost per day or how close any of them are to the hotel where Brittanee went missing.

Hi Mom, I just have to say that if I were any one of those girls mothers I would be so mad and sad at the same time that I had raised a selfish child. This is all about bullying again and I am so sick of hearing it. Now look what has happened. Girls can be so mean at that age. I know I was not there to see what went down but from the sound of things they gave her a ride and that was it. They blew her off. I do hope they are happy. Yes, I am mad because we had a child that was bullied in the s ummer between her 7 and 8th grade year at camp. It got so bad that she had to come home and this was a very very independent child who first went to overnight camp without anyone she knew in 5 th grade. As it turned out, there was alot of jealousy toward our daughter and some of the girls wrote letters to her and were sorry but I tell you it was not easy on any of our family. These were all girls she went to school with in out city too. What a waste of time to be mean and for what? I do not have a good feeling about this case at all. so very sad.

Show a little sensitivity to the situation, perhaps. These are not CHILDREN they are grown adults. They should know better than to go home and put up vacation pics. There was a comment along the lines of "it was still a great trip even with all the craziness that went down" on one of the pictures. Would you consider a trip in which one of your travel mates went missing a great time? I know I wouldn't. I'm sure i'd consider it one of the worst trips of my life. Seriously who raised them? Their behavior following BD's disappearance shows a complete lack of class and utter disregard for the well-being of their friend.

I need to find the post that detailed suspicious vans when BD went missing.

From the 6:00 news. There were three attempted abductions. At least two happened last Wednesday. These were in the Carolina Forest area and the Socastee area. They didn't say when the last one was. MB police is working with Virginia to locate the van. They do have a license plate number for the van.

Missing NY teen’s family continues search in Georgetown

Family of Brittanee Drexel hit the area of Georgetown again today near Front Street. Drexel’s grandmother Carol Wagner tells News 13 that they are concentrating on the same area again because that’s where her grand daughter’s cell phone signal was picked up more than two weeks ago.

Wagner continued by saying that the family plans to hand out flyers and business cards with Drexel’s information to truckers coming into and going out of the state.

Wagner also added that family and friends have so far passed out hundreds of business cards to bikers at several stops in North Myrtle Beach, Surfside and Murrell’s Inlet.

One Harley Davidson customer said Wagner even added information about Drexel on a biker website..........

Drexel’s family will be going back out on Tuesday to McClenllanville and Charleston County to continue with the search efforts.

Woman reports man exposed himself, chased her at hotel in Myrtle Beach

A Williamston woman told police that a man exposed himself and chased her through the hallways of a Myrtle Beach hotel on Saturday morning, according to a police report.

The victim said she was returning to her room at the Patricia Grand Hotel on 2710 North Ocean Blvd. when an unknown man on the floor below started whistling at her, the report states.

The victim told police that the man exposed himself to her, chased her through the hallways and asked, ``Don't you want some of this?''

Officers reported that the victim was screaming as she ran through multiple floors of the hotel trying to find help. The woman found someone to help her on the 15th floor and the suspect fled the scene.

Police are investigating.

Why would they give out the license plate which will just give the person/people concerned a chance to change it and/or get rid of the van. Why didn't they just ascertain to whom the vehicle is registered by searching the DMV records?

Dumping her? I agree there were bad choices made by Brittanee and those who gave her the ride. But, IMO, that's all it was...... A RIDE. A plan not well thought out at all.

Unless Brittanee was a registered occupant of the hotel room, no way in the World was she going to get her stuff left there. Was she? Nobody has been able to confirm this.

Believing she is a runaway doesn't mean I believe Brittanee will magically reappear safe, happy and unharmed.


Well, I believe these girls acted poorly. I will not ch ange my mind on that. I do hope as you do, as we all do, that Britanee is found safe.

How quickly a body decays depends on where it is left to decay. Temperature, insect and animal activity, buried vs left above ground, soil content, in water vs out (and type of water) all have effects on decomposition. (And I'm sure I am leaving out other important factors.) Bodies have been found years later with hair and nothing else. If a body is left in the right place, it could still have skin though it might not appear in a recognizable form. In some cases, depending upon the conditions, bodies can mummify but I do not know how long that takes.

If you are interested, look up the Body Farm. It is an amazing study about how bodies decay in various environments. I believe it is part of a university, TN maybe. They put donated bodies in various environments and study how the bodies appear at various stages of decay.
