But after three months in the Executive Mansion, Mrs. Robinson is unexpectedly and decidedly savoring her new life. She entertains visitors from Chicago. She attends White House dinners and concerts hosted by her daughter, the first lady, Michelle Obama. She dines at local restaurants and delights in events at the Kennedy Center, where she often sits in the president’s box and chats with performers. In fact, Mrs. Robinson, 71, is so busy these days that the Obamas hired a baby sitter to watch their two daughters one evening because the nation’s first grandmother had plans.

Gee that's nice. But what about the President's grandma who lives in Kenya without water and electricity? She's 80.
I was wondering the same thing, SB! That poor woman, Obama's grandmother, is living in abject poverty....:(
imo

Who's paying for Mrs. Robinson's grand life style?
Just curious.
Is she assigned Secret Service agents? Limos? At taxpayer expense?

I don't know if she's assigned Secret Service, etc, but Jeesh she's a member of the President's family. Would you be asking the same question if his family consisted of more children (including teenagers with active social lives?).

Why is a topic concerning a member of the President's family and a resident in the White House now considered a "media" issue?
The member of the family has no political power. jmo

CBS News senior White House correspondent, Bill Plante reported on The Early Show that she’s largely remained out of the public’s eye -- and that’s the way she likes it. But her schedule is filling up.

Or if I was Michelle's brother. The President has relatives scattered all around the world and they can't all be guarded. jmo
