Her mother arrived Monday morning and says she thinks one of the boys her daughter was with is hiding something, and says he keeps changing his story about the last time he saw Brittanee.

The mom says all of Brittanee's belongings were left in the hotel, and her cell phone is dead.

She's optimistic but says she fears Brittanee may not be alive

Her boyfriend, a Marine stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC, contacted police on the family’s behalf to report her missing.

So, was her bf on the trip with her? Is this the same guy that has changed his story?

GRACE: Straight out to John Hahn, a friend of the missing girl. He reported her missing.

Mr. Hahn, thank you for being with us. I understand that you`re in the military near there at Camp Lejeune, you got a call in the middle of the night from her family. You took care of reporting her missing. What can you tell me about the last person to have seen her alive, changing his story. Is that true?

(ON THE PHONE)

JOHN HAHN, FRIEND OF 17-YEAR-OLD BRITTANEE DREXEL, REPORTED HER MISSING: Yes, it is. Several different people throughout the two-day period that I was down there investigating, reported that he`s been changing his story. I don`t know him personally.

I think it`s very, very shady that somebody decides to make a 17-hour drive back to Rochester, New York at 2:00 in the morning. Leaving clothes, liquor, and a deposit back at the hotel.

GRACE: Mr. Hahn, I also find that extremely disturbing. When you say he changed his story, in what way did he change his story?

HAHN: He would change his story with small details, saying he saw her at this exact time he was doing this, this is why she left and then all of a sudden it was a different reason why she left. And then it was, you know, a half an hour difference and then the reason why he left was because he wanted to get back in time to be at school.

But, yes, he wanted to be back in time, why would you leave $100 deposit at the front desk of the hotel?

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0904/27/ng.01.html

My first thoughts were she ran away. After hearing this about the guy I think there is cause for concern.

www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20090428/NEWS01/904280334/1003

“According to Hahn and police, Drexel walked about a half-mile from the Bar Harbor Motel where she was staying to visit a friend at the Bluewater Resort on Saturday night. She left to return to her own hotel room but never made it back.

According to witness statements from young men who were staying at the Bluewater Resort, Drexel went to their hotel room about 8 p.m. Saturday but left about 10 minutes later to return a pair of shorts to a friend with whom she had traveled. Two of the men stated that Drexel had been arguing with her friend because Drexel had been wearing her shorts and the friend wanted them back.”

The men who have been questioned are: Pete Broswick, Phillip Watson, Matthew Abrams and Keith Cummings

Searchers with Texas based Laura’s Recover Center are in the area working with local officials to check the area, but since the area has unique terrain and wild animals such as alligators, boars and snakes the search is unique, said Bob Walcutt, executive director, Laura’s Recovery Center.

``Normally we have emergent volunteers, searchers from street who help, but in this case we are relying more on search and rescue teams who are prepared to get out in that environment,’’ Walcutt said.

Myrtle Beach police Capt. David Knipes said there was no new information Friday morning on Drexel’s disappearance or clues to her whereabouts. Police have logged more than 200 tips about her, he said.

``They’ve expanded the search area from Georgetown County and are doing some searches in Charleston County. I don’t think there’s anything new to go on they’re just expanding the area,’’ Knipes said. ``We’re continuing to track down leads and tips and we’re following up on each and every one of them.’’

Vigil keeps hope alive

About 75 people crowded onto a beach access at Hurl Rock Park for a vigil Friday night, sharing candles and wearing T-shirts with a picture of Brittanee Drexel, the 17-year-old New York teen who disappeared from Myrtle Beach on April 25.

Drexel's mother, stepfather and other family held back tears as a priest led the group in a chorus of "Amazing Grace."

"It's going to be Mother's Day and my two other kids are at home, and I don't know where she is," said Dawn Drexel, Brittanee's mother, who was wearing an ankle wrap because she sprained her ankle going door-to-door in her 13-day search for her daughter. "I'm going to spend Mother's Day looking for her ... I'm just hoping and praying that [the vigil and the search] will bring her to us."

Candlelight vigil held for missing teen, dozens of strangers turn out

Sunday morning, the largest search in 13 days will take place for a missing New York teen who was last seen in the heart of Myrtle Beach.

People have been searching by foot, door to door, endlessly looking for any leads, but no sign of Brittanee.

Friday night, with searching still going on, family, friends and even those who've never even met the teen gathered to just pray for Brittanee's safe return.

There were all sorts of emotions at Friday's candlelight vigil. Sad emotions - considering Brittanee is still missing - but there were also good emotions in the form of appreciation for the dozens of strangers who turned out to support the family.

Perfect strangers were singing crying and praying with the Drexel family. People came out with shirts and signs with messages for Brittanee and for a mother and father who are left to wonder about their daughter.

Crews call off Brittanee Drexel search, investigation will go on
Saturday, May 09, 2009 at 7:20 p.m.

On Saturday, there were more than 20 mounted horse teams, multiple ATVs and at least four cadaver dogs scouring the Santee Coastal Reserve in Charleston County. Myrtle Beach police received a tip that generated significant interest in that area, but again, nothing was found -- and that tip was later discredited by investigators.

The investigation will go on, said Captain Chuck Capp with the Myrtle Beach Police Department, though the scores of volunteer searchers are heading home Saturday night.

"We have used every avenue of search personnel ... meaning horse, ATVs, boats, sonar, dogs on water, dogs on land, and so at this point we have to look back and see if that's all we can do until some more information produces," said Caison.

Missing teen: Little sister breaks silence

On the same day the show aired, Brittanee Drexel's little sister broke her silence and talked to News 10NBC. She believes her sister is somewhere out there.

"After I heard it I started crying," said Myrissa Drexel after hearing her big sister went missing. "I couldn't even stop."

Now this 11-year-old is using dance to deal with her sister's disappearance.

"I miss her being just around, and I just want her back," said Myrissa. "I just want my sister."

(also in article----and more)

On the show, Drexel spoke with Peter Brozowitz of Webster for the very first time. He was one of the last people to see Brittanee, but Chad didn't like what he saw or heard.

"I'm on spring break," Brozowitz said while on the show. "I'm not there to babysit anybody."

"I found out why people are pointing their fingers at him," said Chad. "You can just sense it when you talk to him." But in the end it's all about Brittanee. "Just keep praying for us," said Chad. "Just like I'm praying for my baby girl to come home."

Friends and family aren't giving up their search for a missing Chili teen. Tonight, a dance concert to benefit the family of Brittanee Drexel is being held. The 17-year-old Gates Chili junior went missing April 25 while on spring break in Myrtle Beach.

In five weeks of searching, there has been no sign of Brittanee Drexel. There have been dozens of leads and sightings. None have panned out.

This weekend, Brittanee’s story will air on “America’s Most Wanted.” That gives Dawn Drexel hope.

“If people stop searching, I’m going to continue to search for the rest of my life, honestly,” Grieco said.

Grieco’s fundraiser is called, “Fill the Dome and Bring Brittanee Home.” Again, it’s at the Dome Arena in Henrietta on June 26. It will feature celebrity guests from some of your favorite television shows. Grieco says he’s looking for more sponsors and people to rent booths.

Large-scale search for Rochester teen

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - A national organization is helping the family of a missing Rochester teen pick up the search, months after she disappeared in South Carolina.

Mother's search highlights missing person cases
Dawn Drexel gingerly stepped over mounds of pine needles, gnarled roots and empty beer cans as she ventured into a scrubby patch of woods where searchers looked for her teenage daughter's body.

The team had come up empty, just as they had in similar dark corners tucked away from the bright lights and crowds of this bustling resort city. Still, Drexel needed to see the spot last week, to get a sense of the land and the efforts to find Brittanee.
...
Charleston County sheriff's deputies have located all but 12 of the 62 people reported missing to their office since January. But each year, some cases remain stubbornly difficult to solve.
...
On Thursday, Caison drove Drexel to each of the spots investigators searched, as well as a park they plan to scour in January. They covered dozens of miles, at one point passing beneath a giant billboard of Brittanee's smiling face and phone numbers people could call with tips.

Sunglasses found could be Brittanee Drexel’s

Sunglasses found by campers in South Carolina could be those of missing teen Brittanee Drexel.

The Charleston county couple found the sunglasses in a wooded section along the North Santee River in Georgetown County, Monday afternoon.

There is a picture of Drexel at the beach near there wearing a pair of sunglasses that resemble the Prada knock-offs that were found.

A search was conducted in the area of where the sunglasses were found, but the search has been suspended until more information becomes available.

For now, the sunglasses will be sent for DNA testing. Drexel has been missing since April 25th 2009.
