This was breaking news early yesterday afternoon. I saw it on HLN and watched for it here on IS. This is about as heartbreaking as it gets. 2 comments other than the obvious--notice the 15 yr. old had 2 children herself among the 8 kids in the house. jAlso notice the relative said there must have been a tragic accident because she was not a "bad" person, but the girl had lost half her weight in 5 months, only 33 lbs. at death. The description of her bedsores and bones sticking out of her skin is just unbelievably horrible. Where was CPS? Social services had to be monitoring this child because of her welfare benefits (over $2000/month) and it says she attended a count y school until she was removed Jan.22. How did she attend school?

Says the mom has another court date Tues. Hope there is more info. following this horrific crime. This crime is offensive to humanity.

I want to know how you pull a child with such needs from school and it doesn't immediately launch an intense investigation into the home situation.

But we have all kinds of resources to arrest and prosecute suburban Moms who tell their kids to walk if they can't behave in the car.

Maybe she said they were moving or something like that? Even with other children in the family, they might have said they were sending her somewhere else or something like that.

BTW, there's another thread about this in the Child Abuse forum. Could they be merged?
